There are several issues i have with Snooper from the 'free' life time map updates to the quality of components used. 6 years ago i decided to replace my 10 year old snooper truck nav, i bought a S6900 at £429.99 it claimed to come with free life time map updates, more about that later. With in a week of having the S6900 it developed a rattle as the battery had become loose i have used the device 3 times. I contacted Snooper customer service who where very helpful and arranged for a 'swap' of devices and the next day as promised i was delivered a new S6900 and they took the 1 i had away. All was good for 12 months until i tried to update the map for free. Only to find out that the replacement device didnt come with free map updates. Because it wasnt my original device it was a replacement. after several emails and 2 phone calls Snooper point blank refused to honour the free map update. I should have walked away then but seeing how i had been using Snooper products for 12 years i decided to accept thier blatant denial for the map update. After using the S6900 for 16 months the charger and gps dock developed problems again i contacted Snooper and was advised i would need to purchase new charger and dock which i duly did fast delivery i grant you.16 months later the same issue developed and thats when i realised it was a recurring problem that will affect the device for its serviceable life, having had to purchase charger and dock 3 times since i purchased the S6900 i have chosen to walk away from Snooper. thier customer support leaves a lot to be desired thier products have known flaws which they refuse to accecpt or acknowledge. After using Snooper devices for over 16 years and due to lack of support or honouring thier lifetime map update i sent all 3 of my devices for recycling and have gone to another company for my sat nav need.
16/12/25 UPDATE So i received direct communication from Dylan Duke requesting device serial number after a little back and forth between myself and Dylan the lifetime map update was found to have not been activated on my device, Dylan has now activated the free update and my maps and software are now upto date i have also been informed that on the later models the gps unit and power lead have been changed to the usb c connection.

Snooper Sat Nav Repair/Update

Manoj who responded to my call, could not have been more helpful. He fully understood my problem and guided me step by step through the process of getting it resolved. It was necessary to return my sat nav for a thorough overhaul and a new battery. A map update was also included as the unit is four years old.
All this was offered at a very reasonable price which was less than half the cost of a new one even taking the Black Friday offers into consideration.
Well worth five stars.

AVOID SHOCKING CUSTOMER SERVICE

Only gave 1 star as cant give minus 10. Terrible company they sell you it with promise of free maps and when you are not as tech efficient as a nuclear scientist and cant sort the needlessly difficult map upgrades they try to get out of it. They take weeks to reply to emails if they reply at all and when they do its always negative. I paid a lot of money for this product purely on basis of free maps its much dearer than others and I feel like ive been conned!!! I will be complaining to their CEO I WILL NOT LET THIS GO!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS THEY WILL LEAVE YOU HIGH AND DRY

AVOID THIS COMPANY, buy a TOM TOM

Bought a s8110 about 5 years ago.
It was supposed to be the best bit of kit for truck drivers.
I have been in a transport office since 2021 and haven't needed the unit but since Feb 2025 I have returned to the road.
The s8110 kept freezing and putting up a Asimap fault so I tried to update it on several occasions but it wouldn't let me. I contacted Alex Mangli at snooper who is as slippery as an Eel. Who told me it should have been updated every 6 months. Maybe this needs to be put in the manual when purchasing it.
Tried another couple of times to update but still no joy.i eventually sent the nav to Alex who said there was nothing wrong with it but I could purchase a new SD card at £70 to right the faults.????
He then said they would update it for me at the cost of £25. I have free lifetime updates from snooper but then they want to charge you for it when it won't update at home.
I received the nav back from Alex, they hadn't updated it and tried again to update it, and again it failed.
Just about the worst experience I have had with any tech devices and aftercare support in my time on earth.
I will now bin the useless S8110 and purchase a more reliable Tom Tom.
Snooper you need to be shut down for being rip off merchants.

Your reply is far from the truth.
It doesn't say anywhere on the original instructions that the device needs to be updated every 6 months.
I am unable to update at home as your website won't let me do this, it just freezes on the please wait notification. Overnight I might add.
I sent the sat nav to you and you refused to update the maps for free whilst it was with you for over a week, which would have cost you nothing.
Also the sat nav hasn't been used for a number of years as I explained to you on several occasions resulting in it not being updated.
I tried again to update the maps last night and again it failed despite Alex claiming that there wasn't a fault on it and that the maps would update for free at home.
It wouldn't surprise me if you have deliberately disabled the update facility for older sat navs in order to sell more new ones.
Finally , I understand you are a business. But looking at the constant backlog of people who have supported your business by buying your products, all that now have the same problem as me, and all having the same result from your aftercare team that you adviously dont care about anything other than lining your own pockets.

The lifetime free map updates are free for you to do yourself. If you need our help we are here, however we cannot offer continued free technical support as this has a cost to our business. Your device is over 10 years old. The free lifetime update is not your life time, it is the lifetime of the product. As the product is discontinued we are still prepared to offer you updates for free. In order to do this you need to makesure you update the maps or if you skip too many updates your device will no longer have the current software to manage the update. This is what breaks and needs new firmware to be fixed. Our terms and conditions explains this, as does the user manual. We are very sorry you feel let down.

i had a s5100 truckmate sat nav given to me as a gift..1 st 6 months of use great coldnt fault the unit ,,thn after using map update programme described as genuine suport app my sd card became corrupted, after back and forth with snooper support staff was fleeced into buying new card to fix my issue bearing in mind my unit is only 6months old issue was fixed for nxt 5 months again tried to update maps and sd card became corrupted out of warranty now so again purchased new sd card£ 70 3 weeks after using with new card now my satnav will not progress further thn 1st screen after turning on unit says asimap error please shut down and contact snooper for thm to tell me i have to send unit to thm and at my expense thy will investigate the issue wtf i now will never use snooper products again as thy are a company tht only cares about sales any customer after care is non existent 2nd rate products sold by a organised crime group under the name of snooper

Dear Chris, we are sorry to hear of your experience and wish to make a few comments. Firstly if your product is only 6 months old you will have a warranty and all repairs are FREE OF CHARGE. Please contact us immediately with your proof of purchase to validate your warranty.

We also no longer produce Navigation devices using SD cards, this change took place over 3 years ago. This would suggest that the device you have that you say is only 6 months old is possibly not.

We do pride ourselves of helping and supporting all our customers, however we cannot provide free services once products are outside of Warranty.

Rubbish waste of money had 3 navy’s…

Rubbish waste of money had 3 navs over the year 1st one ok next two really really bad no gps . Being on the phone to customer support waste of time for over 2 months back and forth . Now they are wanting me to pay 70 pounds for a new card for the nav when the nav had free updates staywell away from snooper expensive, cheap crap . Snooper has not tryed to contact me at all . When I was on the phone to snooper the represented. Was speaking over me so what the point of having a one way Conversation I’d get married if I wanted that . Just full of crap . Cart polish a turd

Disappointed with process required to enable use

I downloaded my nav hgv from they…

I downloaded my nav hgv from they website after update my navigation didn't work any more I send to them told me it's dead so I list my navigation I needed for my job as hgv driver..now I gave to spend few 100 for new one wich is not my fault. Not recommended ....
As we spoke i update my device after that didn't work i send to you guys for fixing you told me device is dead you can't do anything so why you website offer update and destroy my device it was working perfectly.. and it wasn't new few years old .

I have been using snooper for over 15…

I have been using snooper for over 15 years,using various models, It now seems they are no longer concerned with updating many of the Welsh roads to reflect the 20mph limit

Many tourists visit Wales and will fall foul of these new speed limits,come on snooper get you act together

Meaningless Promises

Bought a DB8500 a few years ago, lifetime map updates as part of the £400 package. Now told they have stopped supporting that model so no updates.
Now offered a new one for £350 with updates.

Save yourself the money, buy a cheap one off ebay, use Google maps for traffic. Why patronise a company that are full of empty promises?

Sorry to see this review, for clarity the DB8500 was discontinued 8years ago, so buying it a "few years ago" is very misleading. The device can nolonger support the maps files of today due to the size of data. As a result your device could become corrupt if the firmware is not updated and the process is not managed correctly. "Lifemap" is only free for the lifetime of the product this product is older than you state. All units are tracked by serial number.

Sorry for the inconvenience we have caused you, however we are a business and need to make a profit in order to operate.

Product 5900 will not update

Product 5900 will not update. owned it for a year and snooper could not get around this bug. This last time, now that it is out of warranty , they have offered to repair the unit at a cost.

The update process is so old fashioned I am surprised anyone had got it correct first time. The support states the only way to update is to remove all your protection on your PC and try again. I stupidly did that and then got attacked. The support answer was to try another PC or send it in for repair which could cost a maximum of £150.......In other words we are not bothered and it will be cheaper to bin it!

Update......I am sorry to hear that you do not think my product is registered. I gave the agent my serial number and he confirmed my name etc. I quote the extract of chat I received "Hello, thank you for reaching out to the Snooper Technical Support Team today. So I can access your account please provide me with your Full Name, Serial Number and Postcode registered to the account", I gave the information and he found my account!......This is the advice I was given "Hey Philip, there is no issue with our updater, is there any VPN or antivirus or Windows Defender activate, if yes then de-activate".....I will not put the agents name on here by please reach out directly to me to let me know how you are going to resolve this.

If your product is within the 12 months warranty period then we repair it free of charge.

Our software does not require you to remove any protection on your PC.

We are very concerned with what is written here and request you contact us directly so we can learn why you had to remove your PC protection and validate your warranty claim.

Thank you for sharing your contact information, after investigating we cannot see that you have a 5900 registered in your name. In order to update the maps your device must be registered to your account. Please ensure you have done this and we can verify.

I bought a sat nav a few years ago and…

I bought a sat nav a few years ago and paid for free updates. The first time i tried to update, it wouldn,t. I had to buy the uprated card. The update worked for a couple of years. I haven t used it since covid. When i tried to update it said i was up to date.when calling snooper i was told that the lifetime of my sat nav was over and they would quite happily take mine in as p/ex. I only use it with my motorhome abroad. I think ill ask for my money back .

Not very good

Used I for the first time today. Took me down a single track road and left me at " my destination " at a 4 way cross roads only 200m from where I wanted to be but no idea which way to go. Will send it back and use Google maps as before.
I take it all back, the destination was pilot error and the alternative route was slightly worse. Will persever with it for a while.

I bought a Snooper 3Zero camera speed detector. Went to update the data “It’s very old and no longer supported”. Why didn’t they e mail me with a warning. No offers or suggestions to buy a new one. Would never buy Snooper products ever again. Avoid
