Awful service

Booked a table on a Saturday night. 2 hours and 45 mins only received starter. Staff are rushed off their feet...poor service is not their fault. Lack of staff. Left without mains.

I booked a family meal for 4 and my daughter was also able to attend at the last moment, so thinking we could just add a seat on the end of our table we thought that would be ok. It was for Christmas and my Mother’s 90th Birthday and we had come all the way from London and Brighton for the occasion.
I was completely shocked when we turned up at the Restaurant to be told by one man rudely that we could not be come in as we only had booked for 4. I tried to explain that we had come all the way from London and Brighton but no apologies we were basically shown the door. I have never felt so humiliated by a restaurant. Your Customer Service is Zero and frankly the rudeness from your staff was intolerable. Zero effort was applied to try and accommodate us which was so disappointing. The family felt totally humiliated and frankly we will not visit again. David McNair

Friendly and helpful

Staff are friendly and check if you need information about the dishes. Heat strength can be adjusted on all to suit you, also aware of gf. Food was tasty and generous, good service and felt clean throughout. I'd definitely return.

A pearl about to be sunk.

These guys really do what customer service and quality food of an Indian standard in a local setting is out of this world. How long they have left is a worrying question with the on going redevelopment. But please post not lie reviews because their Indian food is excellent. Well done lads. Mike

Great authentic food and service! Great value.

An absolutely lovely evening. Made even better by the lady in charge on the night who was covering for holidays from the Syston branch. She was made for the job. Full of excellent advice. We took her up on the recommendation of Masala Mogo for starters! Delicious spiced chips made from Cassava.
Every bit of the meal delicious and tailored to your spice levels. Service exceptional.

DEFINITELY WORTH A VISIT.

My daughter took me to The Spice of India restaurant in Dufftown, Scotland for my birthday after having read an article that they had won awards for the best Indian food in Scotland. Well, it was terrific. The service was impeccable and the food amazing. There was a lovely atmosphere with people coming for take aways and other staying to eat there. The food was so good we ended up buying some take aways for our freezer as well as eating there. If you are in Morayshire, checkout this restaurant. If you like Indian food you will LOVE THE SPICE OF INDIA IN DUFFTOWN.

Ok so I only do a review if necessary

Ok so I only do a review if necessary.
Three times now when I have ordered (and this will be the last) each time they are not happy when you pay by card, they try to put the phone down so you can pay cash instead (I do wonder why)
Also try to leave it so you can pick up rather than deliver. I do not like the way the phone call is hurried.
Very unhelpful. They rush you on the phone so they get what they want (cash in hand and pick up) when you try to bring this up it just feels like you’re an inconvenience.

I only tipped because the delivery lady was lovely and I made sure it went to her.

However, I can not fault the food.

All they need to change is their mannerisms, and let the customer have their decisions.

Delighted- excellent food

We have had take away food many time from here and have always been very pleased. That last twice we used the restaurant itself and were delighted ‘both times’. Service was excellent even on the very crowded evening, staff were attentive and friendly and checked with us regularly to see if we needed anything. We had lamb and chicken dishes and the meat was good quality and beautifully cooked. The sauces were were rich and flavourful. My dish was truly outstanding and I have had it twice now, I would recommend it as one of the best Indian experience I have ever eaten, it was Tamarin chicken, it was such a deep rich sauce which filled my tastebuds completely. It was served with extra chilli if you want it. I can’t fault my experience, I was so pleased I even took time to speak with and complement the chef. Well done team,
David

Worst mistake of my life booking this restaurant

I booked this restaurant for my sons 18th birthday after lots of reassurance from the owners sister Hina that everything would go smoothly and not to worry about a thing, i even visited the place personally before booking as I have never eaten here before just to make sure and was fooled into confirming my booking of 25 guests. Firstly the table wasn't even set up, then it took ages for the glasses to arrive so no-one could have a drink as we had ordered jugs of soft drinks which came in a timely manner but no good to us as no glasses, then there was a big deal about which glasses to give us! The bar man then dropped the whole tray glasses on my mother in laws head and smashed a few on the floor. The dhal was split all over my chair which i wasn't sitting on at the time thank god but splashed all over one of the guests jacket. When we went to the bar to tell Hina she made us out that we were lying as she couldn't see the stain thats because I had wiped it down as much as I could. We waited ages for the food even though I had ordered a set meal so there would be no delay, the veg starter was so chilli just awful and i am Asian so I am used to my food being chilli, the veg mains had no salt in one of the dishes couldn't tell the two dishes apart they were just mush. They brought two bowls of dhal out for 7 veggies!!! and not enough rice. All in all i spent 5 hours in the restaurant which i have never done before because the service was so slow. To top it all the chef was serving us our meals!!!! no waiters/ress. When we went to pay the bill they insisted we had 27 guests which we didn't and they charged the kids who are under 15 full price absolute terrible. Wish I went somewhere else this experience was so awful and is going to stay with me for the rest of my life. Had it not been my sons birthday I would have complained but I didn't want to make a scene in front of my guests or in years to come for my son to tell me that thats all he remembers from his birthday the complaints. If you are thinking of booking this place please please think again you will be disappointed. Hina knew I was unhappy but she didn't bring it up when we went to pay the bill was happy to take the money and pretend it never happened.
