Purchased a set of 4 solar lights from…Refusing to honor Australian Consumer Law (ACL) outside 12-month warranty
Purchased a set of 4 solar lights from Solaryard. They were not cheap. One light completely failed after 16 months of normal use. While 16 months is not a reasonable lifespan for outdoor yard lighting, customer service completely refused to replace or partially refund the single broken unit.Their sole justification for refusing to help is that the product is 4 months past their "12-month store warranty".Under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), statutory consumer guarantees of acceptable quality and durability apply automatically. A business’s voluntary 12-month policy does not override federal consumer rights, and it is highly misleading to tell customers that their rights expire automatically at one year.I gave the company multiple opportunities to fix this minor issue amicably, but they stubbornly choose to ignore Australian consumer rights. I have now escalated this matter and lodged a formal dispute with Consumer Affairs.Buyer beware: if your products break even slightly after 12 months, this company will refuse to help you, completely ignoring the law.
