Awful company
Awful company. Please do not use. Halifax should not recommend. Took me months to remortgage, during which time my payments doubled. No-one responds to your emails, when you do speak to someone they are really rude and condescending. The portal is rubbish, you send all the documentation that is required yet all you get is emails & rudeness about how you’ve not supplied them with information. It was only through complaining that my remortgage all of a sudden happened within DAYS but took them several months
Halifax should know better than to use them
Halifax should know better than to use this firm. I have been trying to complete a process of removing my ex wife from the Mortgage deed for over 8 months. You cant get through on the phone, they dont explain anything, automated letters chasing documents they already have and it goes on...
Didn't Notify Land Registry
Such a terrible business. We staircased 3 years ago and only when we have come to sell our property have we found they didn't send the notification to the land registry. Trying to get them to sort that is painful. Don't use them. They shouldn't still be allowed to operate.
If I could give 0 stars then I would…
If I could give 0 stars then I would have as this company don’t deserve 1 star. Solex have been working on a simple remortgage for us with Halifax but what should have been simple has been made very complicated by their poor management and non-existent communication. You cannot speak to your case handler, as they are too ‘busy’. Emails are ignored, chaser phone calls where you are told that the call handler is marking your case as ‘urgent’ or ‘critical’ have no impact whatsoever on the speed (or lack of) that your case is dealt with. We went over our old fixed deals end date and incurred charges which could and should have been avoided. Solex were aware of the date we needed to complete and had all information and documents required for this to happen, yet they failed to get it done on time. Had it not been for myself and my husband constantly calling and chasing I believe we would still be waiting now. Looking at all of the other reviews on here I see that we are not the only people experiencing this. In hindsight, we would’ve paid for our own conveyancing rather than taking the free service offered by Halifax. Never have I experienced such utter incompetence. It’s criminal that there are this many poor reviews yet they are getting away with it. Avoid at all costs.
ATROCIOUS AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Completely incapable and incompetent.
Started my remortgage 3 months before its expiry, and due to Solex my fixed rate has expired and i have ended up on a variable rate which is costing me thousands.
Some examples of many incompetencies:
Solex uses a case system with automated letters which consistently asks me for information i have either already submitted.
Whenever you call Solex to confirm a document has actually been received you will be on hold for at least 15 mins before they tell you it has been received.
When you do ring up to enquiry as to whether anything else is needed you are told they require a document but this wont have been requested by email.
they do not reply when they tell you they will or respond to email enquiries. They told me i needed to obtain a certain doc form land registry which took me one week and money to obtain when it turns out they had it all along.
They have also suffered one "power outage" meaning they couldn't progress the case at a certain stage - i have heard several other customers who have also received this message at different times throughout the year.
Completely and utterly incompetent.
Unreliable!Unprofessional !!
Unreliable!!! I started remortgage process 4 months ago, verified all good 1-2 months ahead of expiry, still they made my mortgage expire. Unbelievably unreliable. It costed me 1K extra. Sbsolutely 0 rating!
Absolutely appalling
Absolutely appalling! A simple removal of charge complicated by poor inaccurate communication, losing vital documents and
setting impossible deadlines. When and if it eventually gets sorted out I shall be writing to the Chief Executive of Halifax demanding to know why they employ such a useless company, clearly staffed by incompétents.
Ben going on since January 2024 and not settled yet( July 2024)
Shocking Solex…
I feel sorry for the ladies who answer the phone! It will be they who take the brunt of so many upset clients.
Trying to remortgage with Halifax since last November, taken that long deal ran out! New deal in place from Halifax, solex told me everything in place to push through to complete. 3 weeks later they still haven’t completed, I call them every other day. You can never speak to anyone other than the ladies that answer the phone (the ones who take the flak for the case handler). When you ring you can an I have over the many months, get cut off having waited hours to get through, you get put on hold like I did only this morning and get cut off again.
Solex legal services are to be avoided people you have been warned. There is another company that Halifax will offer you - well ask for the other company not Solex.
Solex I will be seeking an appropriate level of compensation once my case has done their job and completed my re mortgage, so if you care to read this I will want a least 6 months of the difference of the new mortgage offer and what it’s being costing me every month being stuck on the variable rate, whilst you’ve been not been doing your jobs.
Finally solex I wait with bated breath to receive info through the good old portal! 🙏
Thanks for the prompt responses to…
Thanks for the prompt responses to inquiries, clear communication by Ms Jeannette Burgess and Lauren about fees and procedures. knowledgeable and helpful and successfully resolved my deadline issue. My experience on switching mortgage was easy. Solex Legal services are professional and effective via app updates and having a personal account. Recommended, I think the negative reviews tells me most of these clients done their transactions via slow postal mail and phone transactions. My solicitor Liam D. Cheers
"AVOID "The worse legal company I ever use
The worse legal company I ever use. The company never contact with the client, if you try to contact them by phone, there will be at least 30mins waiting.BUT THE STAFF WILL CUT YOUR PHONE OFF TWICE, pretending signal problem but the fact was my phone signal 100% perfect.
Absolutely awful company to deal with
Absolutely awful company to deal with, delay after delay asking for documents already sent, phone waiting times of over one hour then still no joy from the person answering the call, told to upload documents previously uploaded, totally p****d off. Do not use this company, why do Halifax use this company i dont know ?
Avoid
Avoid, avoid, avoid
Had a mortgage approved in January, It's now May...!!
Solex are impossible to contact, waiting times on phone one hour plus. Emails sent never get answered.
Mortgage offer will expire soon. Am shocked big companies use them.
DO NOT USE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
DO NOT USE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
This company are dong the conveyancing for my recent mortgage application with Halifax. They send Microsoft Word documents with Macro's enabled to you via email - this is a classic phishing/malware attack vector. Macro's allow custom written code to be executed on your device with escalated privileges. It could therefore install a keylogger, install an APT, or reach out to a command-and-control site and download a malware payload.
You should never open a document that has Macro's enabled unless you explicitly trust the author with your life! There is absolutely no justifiable reason ever for a solicitors to be needing to use Macro's, and then sending these documents onto their clients.
It's an unimaginable security risk, and speaks volumes - they obviously do not care about IT security in any shape or form, or you, their client's data. I can not stress strongly enough - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, DO NOT OPEN AND DELETE ANY ATTACHMENTS THEY HAVE SENT YOU!
Appointed Solex legal service by…
Appointed Solex legal service by Halifax for a remortgage process and experienced slow, unresponsive and sub-professional service. This experience has tainted my view of Halifax as a new customer and I'm bemused Solex can retain a contract with the bank.
A technical error on their part meant I couldn't submit forms digitally, so completed them by hand and posted, 2 weeks later I was told no forms arrived. The day I completed the 2nd set they confirmed, online the receipt of one form, after numerous emails stating that if they had one they had them all, and amazingly without replying to my messages the forms appeared as received online!
They send emails with letter documents attached making management of communications messy.
I would seriously consider another mortgage provider if it came down to like for like and Solex were the legal provider on one.
These guys are bloody awful...
These guys are bloody awful...
Was passed to them by Accord Mortgages.
It's been nearly 4 months now and we still haven't got a completion date!
Can I withdraw from them and use my own conveyancing firm?
Terrible, avoid
Terrible. Same comments as all those below. I was passed to them by Halifax but will be pulling out and seeking my own legals to progress my completion.
Beyond awful
Beyond awful! I have given up on my Bank of Scotland re-mortgage. It's terrible that these large companies are using Solex legal services. Unfortunately as customers we go through the initial process with the bank's broker and then get passed on to Solex with no choice. Unreasonable requests for information, extremely difficult to contact, incorrect handling of information. So much wasted time and a mortgage still on a variable rate but I will be going elsewhere.

personally had a good experience with my remortgage, would use again.
Awful service
Awful service! Constantly being chased for documents that I have submitted. Being chased for forms that have not ever been requested - forms chased with codes but no attached forms. Call the contact centre & got through after 1.5 hours to be advised that there are ongoing system issues that are causing issues. Management are unresponsive to the issues & IT have no clue what's going on & how to fix. How this company are managing to retain brand names as their clients is a mystery - obviously they have little regard for the FCA or Consumer Duty let alone the SRA
