New door day
We have had a love/hate relationship with Solidor, but after a lot of communication between us and Jessica, a replacement door was arranged.
She was very patient and very helpful throughout the process.
Our door was replaced and fitted today by Steve.
Steve was extremely professional, polite and has done an amazing job.
Also, we was given upgraded hardware and colour choices, this made the wife very happy.

Solidor front door issue
I had Steve come over from Solidor with Rob from GHI windows as I had an issue that progressively got worse over a 2 year period. My Solidor front door was sticking to the point in winter was nearly impossible to open. Steve was exceptional. Together with Rob from GHI they acknowledged the issue and proceeded to perform an adjustment to the frame surround that brung the door back into tolerance and fixed the issue. The door opens and closes perfectly, it’s smooth and the bolt action is perfect. This will have to be monitored over the colder months as tolerances can change but I am very pleased with the outcome. The door we had fitted around 8 months ago is doing fine still a little stiff when locking but nothing to complain about the property is now a lot warmer and the noise from outside has been reduced by a considerable amount many thanks for a great product 😀 👍

'Clear' glass unacceptably foggy - avoid.
'Clear' glass unacceptably foggy on our Solidor stable door. We cannot recommend this company. Despite a request to replace the faulty glass, we are told this is normal performance for low-e coating under certain light conditions - usually bright sunlight. In our case it appears to be in all light conditions (included darkest winter). We are finding it difficult to understand why a window replaced with the same aspect at the same time (from another manufacturer) is crystal clear. Have requested a site visit on more than one occasion but just receive emailed excuses from both our installer and Solidor direct. We are now looking at having to find a better manufacturer and completely replace the door (at our expense). Shocking for a door which is less than 6 months old.

Avoid
Avoid, poor quality doors. Door was fitted about 6 year ago, already had 1 door slab replaced due to cracking now replacement has cracked.
Its ok to keep supplying rubbish replacement doors but who pays for them fitting. Once again avoid, spend your money on a better door.

The guarantee on these doors is not as…
The guarantee on these doors is not as it seems. I had a front door fitted from Solidor about 10 years ago which then developed a defect. I searched around the house and found the guarantee and luckily it was still in date. I contacted Solidor thinking all would be sorted, only to be told that in fact the guarantee had ran out. I was so shocked. And here is the bit they don’t tell you.
The guarantee begins on the date the door is DELIVERED TO THE COMPANY FITTING THE DOOR and not the date it is fitted at your house. So I had in my possession a guarantee with the date 24th March 2026 on it, but in fact, it ran out weeks before this when the door was delivered to the company who were fitting it!! What a joke.
Such a con, and I now have to pay for the door myself even though the door had a guarantee in place. Ridiculous!!

As a manufacturer, our terms and conditions are with the trade installer, who is our direct customer. This means the warranty period begins when the door is delivered to the installer, rather than the date it is fitted at the property. We appreciate that this isn’t always clear to homeowners, and we understand why this has led to confusion in your case.
Warranties do need a clearly defined start and end point, and for manufacturing guarantees this is standard industry practice, as we do not control installation dates or timescales once products leave our factory. Your installer should also be able to advise on any additional workmanship guarantees they provided at the time of installation.
We genuinely regret that this wasn’t the outcome you were hoping for and appreciate you sharing your experience. Your feedback is important and helps highlight where expectations can be better managed in future. Gemma @Solidor
