Total loss using this company

I purchased a motorhome from this company but was very disappointed with the service. Before purchase I agreed to pay £570 extra for a new timing belt for peace of mind. After a short time the belt broke causing significant damage, the van is now likely to be scrapped.

I called many times and eventually spoke to someone called Dave who advised it was not their fault and I should contact the mechanic they used to do the work (yet I paid Somerset Trade Campers £570 for the work and they chose their mechanic). He also stated that if a timing belt works for a few weeks then it is no longer their responsibility. However on checking with trading standards this is not the case, as a timing belt is guaranteed under consumer law for at least 12 months.

The mechanic's number I was given is just a mobile phone and he never answers. And now Somerset Trade Campers (based on the A370 in Western Super Mare) are ignoring all messages.

Consequently, my van is completely off the road with catastrophic engine damage and I'm out if pocket. It's likely to have to be scrapped.

It's such a shame there are companies are behaving like this, not honouring any warranty. The van is a complete loss. I'm thousands out of pocket, I so regret buying from this company and I just wanted to warn others.
