Having fallen off riding a nearby section of the TET and bending my footrest I called South Downs Motorcycles to see if they could help. They offered to have one of their technicians have a look and when we arrived they assessed the damage and suggested a fix which they completed on the spot.
Both the technician, Dave a very friendly South African, and Martin, Servicing Manager didn’t want payment for the work and were happy to help me out of a spot. Thank you both and greatly appreciated. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I booked the initial e-bike service and had to wait a two/three weeks. When I arrived the mechanic started immediately and was finished as planned within 40 minutes. I had a number of observations during my initial period of ownership. Whilst the mechanic was receptive I wasn't able to get any feedback on his findings as he was out when I returned. That said, the service addressed the issues fully. Thank yiu

I thought i bought a bike until they said they had a stock issue. It was priced 499 then shot back up to 699. I think whoever built the webpage priced it wrong and panicked when i bought one at 499. I emailed them to ask about it and they ignored me. Dont bother.

Ordered two hope mini service kits, only received one. Contacted SDB, they sent another straight away, great customer service remedying the issue so quickly.

When I was growing up, there were loads of local bike shops, now Worthing only has one.
I attended the shop with my daughter’s bike, as I was u sure if my pump was broken or the tube.
I asked the chap in the shop if they had a pump I could use to establish what was broken. He kindly pointed me to a pump.
The tyre wasn’t inflating so I asked if he had a new inner tube. Which he provided.
I asked if he minded me changing the tube in the shop, which he replied no.
I then realised I didn’t have any tyre levers, so I asked if he had any.
He pointed me in the direction of the products.
I understand that the tools in the shop could belong personally to the mechanics and they obviously wouldn’t let anyone use them.

As it had been about 30 years since I had changes an inner tube, I was some what struggling.
I eventually got the tyre off and put the new tube in and set about getting the tyre back on.
After struggling for about 15 minutes and he would have seen this, I asked the chap if he could help/do it.
He said it would cost £12.
Again, I fully understand nothing is for free anymore, but some assistance or pointers would have been highly appreciated.
At this stage I was ready to give up and said ok.
He said he couldn’t do it right now, and I would have to leave the bike there.
My daughter was meeting friends, so I declined this.

Now, for someone who knows what they are doing, this is a 2 minute job.
Even if he was doing something else, the opportunity to make a quick £12 from a customer for the company was missed.

I eventually managed to do it.
I was thankful for the use of the pump as that saved me £20, but where has the customer service gone, and to help the only customer in the shop.

My previous visit about 10 months prior, was to replace my daughter’s 2 x inner tubes on her other bike.
I paid the £24 + the cost of 2 inner tubes, so I think about £35 in total, as I was pushing her bike out the shop, I noticed the tyres were not pumped up.
I asked if they could pump them up, and I was pointed to the pump.

I’m guessing if you are going in there to spend £1000’s on a new bike, they aren’t interested in you, or pride themselves in providing a good service, or to simply help.

In future I will have to go out of Worthing, and find somewhere else.

Everyone I dealt with at South Downs Bikes were helpful, but not too pushy and when I had decided on the bike I wanted, the workshop kindly fitted my existing painter rack, whilst undertaking the pre-sale checks. All was completed speedily as I’d not given myself much time before needing the bike for a cycling holiday! I really appreciate all the help I was given.

After I placed the order online, Martin rang to explain that the bike had just sold out. He offered the same model in a different colour, which normally costs £250 more, but honoured the original price.

I recently purchased a Specialized Levo from South Downs Bikes and couldn’t be more pleased with the experience.

I dealt directly with Martin, the owner, who was incredibly helpful from start to finish. I managed the entire purchase over the phone, and Martin made the process straightforward, clear, and completely stress-free.

The bike was delivered to my home, and the gentleman who brought it was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Importantly, he was also a mechanic, meaning he was fully capable of handling any issues if they had arisen (none did). This really stood out to me, as a previous purchase from another bike shop resulted in having to return a bike due to issues, and the delivery person on that occasion wasn’t a mechanic which caused unnecessary delays and inconvenience.

It’s clear that Martin genuinely cares about the reputation of his business. The level of service was exceptional throughout. I only wish every bike shop were this easy to deal with.

I would highly recommend South Downs Bikes to anyone considering a purchase.
