Excellent Customer Service
One of the prongs on a “weed puller” I had used for a number of years broke off in use. Given that the tool is actually fabricated from parts I contacted them to see if I could obtain the necessary spare part.
I received a very prompt response (same day) from the company seeking further information followed by a replacement tool a few days later.
Natural oak totally different colour…
Natural oak totally different colour too last years never use it again
Absolute crap
Absolute crap, doesn't work, Absolute joke of a product, do not buy...scam....
Spear and Jackson take no responsibility for their brand.
I wrote to Spear and Jackson with a simple question about a Spear and Jackson branded garden tool.
They replied but only to tell me that it was the wrong office. I should contact Argos.
Entirely different shade of deck stain ti previous purchase
Bought Spear and Jackson decking stain for the second time. Thinking as we had purchased the same shade as previously that the colour would be similar to the previous time. We had used the rest of last years paint to do most of the decking but ran out. This years shade is entirely different and does not resemble the previous Natural Oak shade or the colour advertised in any way. It’s more like a dusty yellow. We now have a deck in two different colours and will need to apply at least 2 more coats to get it to match. I have pictures showing the huge difference in shades. According to previous reviews, it seems a waste of time trying to contact the company direct.
Think twice before buying this mower.
Bought a Spear and Jackson cordless mower to replace old Bosch corded. Wish I had kept it based on the performance and difficulty in using the new one. It is cheaply made, difficult to set up, handle, battery etc. Extremely awkward to manoeuvre because the grass box sticks out a long way at the rear. Impossible if your lawn is edged by flower beds or shrubs. The cord is liable to be trapped in the handle mechanism if you are not careful. A different coloured cable would have helped. I could mention more failings. The only positive comment is that it is cordless.
Natural oak
I bought 5L of natural oak decking stain to match what I painted last year, however the colour is completely different. It's more like a gold/yellow colour, absolutely nothing like last years product, after contacting customer service and asking some basic questions I was told to contact B&M directly for help.
I bought deep oak decking stain
I bought deep oak decking stain, there is nothing deep oak about the color, it has a pink tinge to it! I contacted customer services but they accept no liability, apparently I should have tried a small area first.
Brought spear and Jackson path,patio…
Brought spear and Jackson path, patio and decking cleaner would not recommend total rubbish. Washing up liquid would of done a better job.
I had the exact same issue with the…
I had the exact same issue with the Spear and Jackson Natural Oak Decking Stain. The color is completely different from last year’s product—much more yellow and garish than advertised. Like others, I was hoping it would dry to a more natural tone, but it didn’t. I painted half the decking with last years pot and half with this years pot and the difference is ridiculous. One half is brown and the other is bright yellow
Spear and Jackson Natural Oak Decking…
Spear and Jackson Natural Oak Decking Stain. I contacted customer services after applying this product earlier today. The product is a garish shade of yellow, not at all as advertised and certainly not the same colour as last year. I had hoped when the stain dried it would tone down, but to no avail. S&J acknowledge it’s a different shade to last year, but even having sent them photos of the decking painted with the remainder of last years product alongside this years product, they don’t see it as a problem. I am now hoping for a rainstorm to wash this mess away. It is an awful product, what has happened to quality control?
Spear and jackson shed and fence paint…
Spear and jackson shed and fence paint , charcoal paint . Just coloured water total waste of time . Don't waste your time or money on this product unless you want to do more than 5 coats each panel , for any chance of it covering bare panels .
Spray and leave
Bought 2 gallon of spray and leave with spray hose attached neither of them worked totally useless.
Creocote
Creocote, waste of time and money. Thick oil based wood treatment that just sits on the surface and does not absorb into the timbers. Takes forever to dry.
Wickes sell a similar product that is much thinner and absorbs well into the timber.
Selling water as fence paint!
I bought a bucket of Red Cedar paint at B&M in November £3.00. When I opened it I'd bought a bucket of dirty water. B&M asked me to send a picture of it, from a distance, applied to a wall. I'd already sent them a video of me stirring it and the stick I used didn't even change colour.
Update 26th March 2025: B&M have acknowledged me and refunded me by way of a Gift Card. Still nothing from Spear & Jackson. They have ignored my email and this post.
Exemplary customer service
Contacted company via website enquiry form to enquire about a spring that had broken on a long reach pruner, had response with hours that new part would be sent out which I received 24 hours later. Exemplary customer service
Best customer service experience ever.
Contacted them as garden fork had not failed too well, they sent out a new one that arrived next day, less than 24hrs later. Awesome service all round.
Outdoor paint very poor quality
Bought Spear and Jackson white outdoor paint from B&M to complete painting outdoor wall. Had painted most of the house using Johnston paint, but ran out of paint and saw reasonably priced S&J outdoor paint while shopping in B&M. Completed the remaining wall with 2 coats of S&J paint. Couple of weeks later, after a rainy night, I opened the patio door to find lots of paint splattered on the door step and on the ground along the part of the wall painted with S&J paint. This happens every time it rains!!! Will need to paint again with Johnston paint. Absolutely rubbish paint!!! DO NOT USE S&J PAINT.
Terrible after sales service
Took delivery of a new cordless mower. Found a small part missing. Tried to contact them via email - first email address said try another one, second email address said nothing to do with them. Tried to phone them - was immediately "No 1 in the queue", 20 mins later still no reply. What a shambles.
