I highly recommend Spear at Bway/103rd

I highly recommend Spear at Broadway and W103rd in Manhattan. From the moment I entered, two things struck me: the staff is highly skilled and there’s a friendly, fun vibe. You rarely get both in PT.
Matthew Grinnell, DPT, and clinical director, was my therapist. He is knowledgeable and flexible in approach. His colleagues are equally engaged and there’s a strong team approach to clients.
Matt has sound judgment on when to push you and when to ease up. During my entire 3-month therapy stint for back, hip, and knee pain, I experienced the appropriate level of post PT soreness without injury.
There’s another aspect of this Spear location that bears mentioning. Unlike some streetfront PT clinics, this one is designed so the therapy area is set back from sidewalk view. There is a reasonable degree of privacy. If passersby look in, they see faces and bodies that are not immediately recognizable. This is an important yet often-overlooked design feature. PT clients are sore and sometimes injured. They may need to assume pretzel-like positions to recover. Everyone can do without the neighborhood stares!
I’m feeling much better following my sessions. My post-PT routine is loaded on the Spear app. I look forward to continuing to recover on my own.
Much appreciated Team Spear!

I went for physical therapy for an…

I went for physical therapy for an arthritic knee throughout the fall of 2023 at the Long Island City location. I couldn't be more pleased with the treatment I received. Cassandra, my physical therapist, was the best.

UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!

I went to the 120 East 56th location in New York, and they had me waste my time and money!!! I have a messed up left knee so I take uber or lyft everywhere. Today (04-26-2021) I spent 24 dollars on Lyft FOR NOTHING!!! I spent 24 on lyft just to show up to my appointment and find out they’re not in contract with my insurance. All of this could have been avoided if I would’ve received a call back like they said I would. I had already had a session a few days ago and was told I would find out if I was covered that day and didn’t! Today I called before my session and was told I would get a call back and didn’t!!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I had to find out I wasn’t covered after I got there!!! WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!
