Ethics Process Protects Practitioners, Not the Public.

I filed a formal complaint with SPA after a member conducted an assessment on my child without consent, withheld the report for over two years, and produced a document with serious factual errors.

SPA’s response was deeply disappointing. They:

-Placed the burden of proof on me, the complainant.

-Suspended the investigation because I could not obtain the practitioner’s workplace records (which were her responsibility).

-Showed no urgency about the harm caused by the delay in intervention.

Takeaway: SPA’s ethics process is ineffective and seems designed to shield members. If you have a serious complaint, skip SPA and go straight to the HCCC for a fair, timely resolution. Families deserve better accountability.
