Seems to be a complete ripoff
Throughout my purchase "experience", the salesperson went out of his way, on several occasions, to tout the "anti-theft" capabilities of the GMC Canyon truck. I paid little attention (big mistake), because I do not live in an area where car theft is a problem, nor do I travel to such areas.
I guess you can categorize this under the category of "a fool and his money...", but at no point was it mentioned, suggested, or intimated that there was a fee associated with this "service." Well, there is, and it's a big one. I didn't realize it until AFTER the purchase, that the dealer added on $1,200 in junk fees for "USWC Traceable Theft (ETCH), and "Spireon Kahu."
I'm so mad at myself now for falling for such a scheme. I should know better, but, well, was excited about the new purchase and didn't read the contract carefully enough.
So, be sure to look for such line items and have them struck from the contract, or simply walk away. I wish I had done the latter.
