Absolutely the worst solar company…

Absolutely the worst solar company around. My solar inverter stopped working and it took the company 8 months to fix it while I still had to pay the lease payment each month. After all this, Spruce Power refuses to honor my performance guarantee. Do not use them, there are many others who had the same problems with this company. Do your research.

non existent customer service

My Solar system with Spruce power has not been working for over 13 months now. Their customer service department is terrible, The Special escalations team is incapable of getting anything done, and their asset operations team is apparently non existent. Over the past year i have made about 25 phone calls to the company and have never been able to reach a supervisor nor has a supervisor EVER called me back. The workers in the SET just feed the company line of "someone will get back to you in 24 to 48 hours", over and over again and NOTHING EVER GETS DONE. Hey do not provide access to any management because they are not "customer facing". Its just terrible. The whole company as based on a system of lies to cover their inability to service their customers.

No Customer Service Support

I called and left several messages for Spruce power for a call back as their message states "all customers services representatives busy". To date no return calls and my bill continues to increase each month although I have made efforts to use less energy. I live alone, wash clothes 3X a month, not running the heat or air conditioner. I have a gas tankless water heater, gas stove and gas dryer. I would NOT recommend this company as their customer service is nonexistent.

I’m trying to sell my home

I’m trying to sell my home, and this company has delayed the process badly. I have been waiting more than two weeks for a termination letter, yet they were very quick to collect the $400 processing fee.

Customer service has been extremely frustrating. I dealt with several unpleasant representatives, including one named Robert, who hung up on me once he ran out of excuses. I was repeatedly told that management would call me back, but that never happened.

I have called countless times and spent hours on the phone, only to get nowhere. This company is terribly run. I would strongly warn others not to let them install or manage anything on their property.

I've had broken equipment for 6 months…

I've had broken equipment for 6 months now, can't get the contact center to help me. I get tickets numbers to follow-up on, but no one gets back to me. I have 7 years of solar data to prove my system (under warranty & contract) is malfunctioning, but they continue to be in breech of contract by refusing support while continuing to charge me monthly. Contact center refused to let me speak to a manager or higher when I asked. They are charging me more in monthly fees than the system produces....i'm actually losing money on this.

We have been waiting for Spruce power…

We have been waiting for Spruce power to initiate a solar transfer on our solar system for several weeks. They purchased the solar agreement from a bankrupt solar company and never received the written contract. Because we don’t have a copy of the contract they are stating they need to make a new one, but they will not give us a timeline of how long it will take. No one at Spruce can give any answers to our issues or help try and resolve this. All they say is it has to go through a process. But can’t tell us what that process is or how long it will take. Meanwhile, we are going to lose the buyer on this home because it is taken so long. Be careful doing any business with Spruce power as I’m sure it will end up costing you in the long run.

I hate that I even have to give the 1 star !!

I hate that I even have to give them one sstar to be able to write a review! I was reading other comments and we are all experiencing similar problems with Spruce in that they come in after we have installed our solar systems with a good company and then Spruce buys our contracts and we have no recourse. Spruce has done the same thing to me that they do to everyone else- we have a problem with our system and they make us wait while they monitor the system even though they can sit in Texas and tell you exactly what is wrong with the system. They are responsible for the repairs but have no designated repair techs outside of Texas! I just saw online they acquired another company in New Jersey! They can't take care of their crrent customers!!

Spruce Power Inc. is an unreliable company

I purchased a 7.8 kW solar array system from West Coast Solar, based in Brentwood, California, back in May of 2014. The contract refers to a "solar provider" who is responsible for maintaining my system "in good operating condition at our cost and expense" for a 20-year period.

The original "solar provider" was a company called Integrys based in Los Angeles. For the first 8 years, the system operated with no problems. Then in year 9, I noticed one of my two garage inverters was displaying a red light and could see it was not passing on any electricity generated by half of my 26, 300w LG panels (the inverter panel displays - "Electr. arc detected," and "Check DC generator").

In 2020, Spruce Power, based in Houston, Texas, acquired my contract from Integrys, so I contacted Spruce to let them know the issue I was having. It took them two months before they sent a technician to my home to evaluate the problem.

After determining that one of my panels had broken, they had to order a new panel. It took them another two months before they replaced the broken panel and had my system running up to full capacity again.

In August of this year (2025), I again noticed the same inverter was displaying the same red light message, so I contacted Spruce. At first, I was told they would "monitor" my system for 1 month and then determine whether to send a technician to diagnose the issue.

After that month expired, I was then told they had to monitor my system for 3 months before deciding whether to send a technician to my home. Of course, during this now 3+-month period, I am losing electricity production because my solar system is only working at 50% capacity. This was clearly evident when I looked at my system's power production on Spruce's website (October 2025 production was 406.224 kWh compared to October 2024 production of 777.715 kWh).

Now that it's halfway through November, Spruce has still not taken any action to correct the issue with my solar system. My contract does not state that the "solar provider" can take as much time as needed to keep my system in good operating condition.

Spruce is deliberately stalling to fix my system because they have to pay for any repairs per the contract. They keep giving me one excuse after another. There was no need to "monitor" my system because they should clearly see that my solar system production has been operating at only a 50% capacity due to the inoperable inverter.

Spruce has consistently provided horrible customer service, and they should not be in business.

nefarious overcharges worst solar company. Highly unethical

nefarious overcharges. Massive true up from PGE.

Grid failure on both inverters which is very concerning and a red light on the Cat meter. System has essentially been shut off since June 2025 as we brought up concerns prior:

Lack of maintenance that has caused weather tight seals to fail in numerous locations (and overall potential power failure and fire risk)
exhaustive customer service records, we have a chronic electrical arc issue (and grid failure), error messages detected via the inverter, for YEARS and the system is operating at half production or worse.
Spruce has monumentally failed to live up to our agreement.
We have made numerous requests, over many years of agony, to have fixed, but the issue has never been resolved.

Worst solar company ever.
