Spud By James Martin

Being a fan of James Martin I purposely went out of my way to try James’s spud! Plymouth was the venue and after reading the menu I elected to go for the Chicken Makhani. Standing waiting I watched slices of garlic bread being handed out on paper plates usually used for dishing out kids birthday cakes at parties, I began to think the Burger King next door maybe a better option..?
The man in the Nike t shirt took my order and offered me the meal deal which was a drink and garlic bread, I just went for the spud with drink.. garlic bread and potato? The spud arrived on the kids party paper plate atop of tracing paper to extend the life of the plate, Wooden knife and folk where the weapons to be used. The Chicken Makhani had the consistency of a product from a tin, it did taste nice but I felt Weatherspoons could do just as well, the Spud appeared to have been in the oven for a long long time, the inside was soft but stained by the over cooked skin and the skin had to be worn away slowly with the almost useless wooden knife in order to gain an adequate mouth size portion, while rubbing away the jacket with said knife I had a sudden though… this must be what it’s like to be in prison.

Visited White Rose branch and was less…

Visited White Rose branch and was less than impressed with the service I received. Finished up paying more than I needed to due to unhelpful staff. £.7.50 for a potato with beans and cheese is massively overpriced anyway

Goodbye, friend

Before they sadly closed down, a victim of the recession, Spud U Like were the place to go for a healthy, tasty and filling lunch. They had a great menu, wonderful staff and good prices. Thank you for all the amazing spuds. You’ll be missed.
