I co-signed a vehicle loan for a friend who sadly passed away, and I refinanced the vehicle to take over the note. Since then, the experience has been nothing but frustrating. While the refinancing process itself was fairly standard, I’ve repeatedly had issues afterward. I’ve been asked three separate times to provide proof of insurance because they “can’t locate” the documents.
Most recently, I received a notice from the county tax office stating that the VTR-262 Affidavit of Heirship was completed incorrectly—the decedent’s name was left off the form, an error made by the lender.
Customer service has been terrible. I’ve had to wait on hold for long periods nearly every time I’ve called. You cannot reach anyone locally; everything goes through a generic 1-800 number, and each call requires re-explaining the entire situation from the beginning.
Overall, the service has been extremely disappointing and has added unnecessary stress during an already difficult situation.
