Just a waste of talent and time

Do not use StarNow, I think it is clear on the Trustpilot overall review ratings. There are many factors one of them is the low standard of work you get on StarNow. If you value your time and your worth don't waste time with StarNow.

DO NOT SIGN TO STAR NOW BEFORE YOU READ THIS...

As a lot of other consumers on this review site, I too have been affected by Starnow. I paid for what I thought was a 6 month subscription and without any written or verbal permission, they debited my credit card for a further 6 months! I contacted them and they basically said refer to our terms and conditions. These terms and conditions were pages and pages long and not clear for the average consumer to comprehend. Apparently you have to notify them within 30 days after you first sign up that you don't want to renew again in 6 months. I definately was not told this nor did I see it anywhere when I signed up for the 6 months. So unethical.

All StarNow subscriptions are recurring. This means that you will be charged automatically at the end of your chosen period (in your case, every six months).

The information about our recurring payment system is displayed at the bottom of the page where you entered your credit card details. It reads: "Your StarNow membership will renew automatically every 6 months. You can cancel at any time".

Honesty , not their best Policy

My experience With them is lack of Professionalism and Honesty from them . I posted several pics videos etc. Some of which were Nudes. They were posted on the site for moths and one Day after I posted one with Lingerie 48 hours later My profile simply disappeared . They gave me several responses. However, they denied the fact the allowed the Nudes to post for Months, and never gave me an Explanation as to why that happened . I only guess that they are not being truthful, and leaving out information they are not telling me. Very poor on their part.

Unethical practice of charging card without notice of an inactive account

I subscribed to Starnow for a promotional membership for 6 months, however i did not use the service much and infact had stopped using it in the last 2 months of the period. Now i suddenly see a charge on my card for a subscription renewal which i did not sign up for, no email communication, no reminder, no receipt, no notification absolutely, such a sneaky way of charging people who may have left the site. To top if it, refusing to refund or make arrangements of a partial refund. Such sneaky unethical way of charging customers should be strictly looked into by the authorities

Terrible to book jobs or cancel. Still takes money.

I tried applying for jobs that never went through either without saying there was an issue or the links were missing to get to the correct place to actually apply.

I tried cancelling my paid membership on the website/app but wasn't able to find how to do it. I tried emailing twice before they took another £41.94. Those emails were never answered and the following emails so far havent been answered.

I would never recommend a paid subscription to StarNow to anyone of my acting friends.

- Reference (i.e. a screenshot) of the cancellation request email you sent through to the team, prior to your payment being made.

You can't do anything without a pair…

You can't do anything without a paid membership. It's really upsetting because I have limited people in my area for opportunities and they require an intro to film thing which I need in order to even properly apply. I answer the questions but then I can't go further because I can't afford a membership which is what allows me for intro film. I just can't afford it and it should be something that is allowed in the free membership.

But the WORST thing is, you can't even see who is employing you or who you're working with unless you pay. You need a paid membership to see who's listing something is, and even after you've applied and been successful, you STILL can't see who they are.
I think this is extremely dangerous. You shouldn't have to pay to see who you're working with in the future. You don't even get a picture of them.

As much as we’d love for everything at StarNow to be free, it takes a team of people to run the website, from web developers, to casting managers and our customer success team - we need to charge our full members a small fee to use the site to ensure we can continue to operate and provide the best service possible.

Starnow is not reliable casting web site

Starnow is ammatures actors web site, customer service is not reliable and its on line business with no headquarter or provided customer service number and they treat talents badly and cause troubles interfering against employers who are paying Award wages and have a good reputation in the Industry, better go to Talents Managments Agencies and forget about casting from StarNow.

I'm a media executive who recently…

I'm a media executive who recently tried to hire cast for a short film on Starnow. The film will include some violence as it's a neo-noir thriller, which is why the synopsis contained the words "gruesome revenge". The staff at Starnow insisted that I should explain to them what this gruesome revenge would consist in. I asked them why it matters and they replied that they wanted to include a trigger warning in the listing. I replied with even more information, but they were still not satisfied, so I asked to make a complaint. A few hours later my profile was deleted. Not shedding a single tear about that because I would've never ever used their service ever again anyways, but thought I'd share this story here...

It's appaling and robbed independent actors and actresses of a well-paid job. Avoid Starnow wherever you can and get a real agent.

Absolutely appalled with starnow

Absolutely appalled with starnow, after all the nit picking and discrimination we have faced in the past from the staff on this site; they have the nerve to continue to insult me and my casting team. In April of "this year" I placed a listing for teenagers, star now then wrote and asked me for my ID (even though they already had it) so I sent my ID again, I didn't hear from them for 4 days (baring in mind it states on their site the process takes 24 hours) so I contacted them and their reply was I cannot place a listing on their site because my ID does not match the name on my profile.
Though since 2016 I have used the same name on their site (which is my company name) and in the past I have cast 100's of child actors from their site.

Over the years I have catalogued and screen shot dozens of unfair actions and dealings with starnow.

Further more to this and perhaps more importantly I have put up with a fair amount of rudeness, confrontational attitude and a severe lack of communication from Starnow staff.
I am sick to my stomach of dealing with the staff on this site. I will not be casting on star now ever again. They can run to trust pilot and ask for this review to be removed, so be it. But behind every review is an experience that matters! and as you can see from majority of the reviews here, 100's of people are unhappy by starnow's services.

I confirm this review is about my own genuine experience dealing with the staff on this site.

It’s not a scam, yet ineffective

If they’re serious on casting they will take the subscription from your first payment, not previously. So the whole thing makes it look they’re there for the subscriptions.
I’ve paid for six months but all the gigs I got came from other websites as Casting Collective and TalentTalks and I wasn’t even subscribed. Whose subscription do you think I’ll chose?
It will maybe work for people with loads of experiences or with more “standard European features”.
I don’t see myself paying the subscription even for the unpaid gigs...
The cherry cake came only some days ago when my card was tried to be used on that website... fortunately I received a bank alert and had the card blocked.

Apparently a lot of people complaint about the subscription fee because it does rip off. I ask them why they do not set up a reminder for customer to ask if they wish to continue using their services? Very Bad experience~

Daylight robbery!

I have been signed up to StarNow for years with a standard profile. Suddenly in 2021 they have decided to take approximately £29 out of my bank account. Their reasoning being -

“Your StarNow subscription renews automatically. The details of our recurring payment system are provided when you first subscribe - and available to view at any time in our Terms and Conditions.”

I NEVER agreed to any such subscription which would allow them to take my money. They also told me to check my membership plan via a link however there is no written information on there about what a standard member actually is.

Strange I have been signed up without paying anything for years and suddenly during a pandemic when everyone is struggling they’re stealing from people. This is daylight robbery. Be very cautious.

I've had many jobs through starnow…

I've had many jobs through starnow over the years. Good customer service and a good place to pick up experience and improve your artistic endeavors. I would definitely recommend it as a tool for work within the entertainment industry. As with everything you have to be committed, put in the work and not give up!

I am so disappointed with this company…

I am so disappointed with this company , they are openly robbing you . I subscribed for my daughter sometime in October and paid for a year, today the company changed me again of over £29 . I already unsubscribed and don’t use their service and can’t get a refund,Apparently as per their policy. It’s a disgrace and I will continue emailing you every day if I have to to get my money back.

I have been a long time member of…

I have been a long time member of StarNow. I feel sick as I have only just advocated for this site recently. I had a membership upgrade happen in April 2020 - 6 monthly membership - it was for 11.94AUD (have email evidence). Today, I noticed StarNow took out $38.94 for this membership. I asked for it to be revoked, but apparently a 2 part yearly membership started in October (no correspondence) and I can only get a refund 30 days prior to the the October portion being taken out. Now, the last membership email I received was in April 2020 for the 6 monthly subscription. No email to say I was now on a bi-annual membership and no email to inform me of the price increasing by more than TRIPLE the amount! They used to be a great platform, as I have used them in the past many many years ago. Sadly, not anymore.

Breach of GDPR

Someone has made a fake account of me on this website, using photos of me aged 12-14 and Starnow won't delete the account due to me not knowing any of the account details. How am I meant to know account details when its a Fake account?????

I have advised them in writing that they do not have my permission to use the photos, or store them on their system. I would like the account removed ASAP.

Absolutely appalling services, causing me numerous anxiety attacks. I will be taking legal action and reporting to the police. Please, please avoid this website.

Terrible! Don't use! They steal your money

Terrible! Taken money out of my account with no warning and I'm not even subscribed so I shouldn't be paying for anything. They also have the wrong email address for me and make it impossible to change it. Trying to contact them for a refund but haven't heard back. I will have to report this business as a scam to my bank.
