BUYER BEWARE.
BUYER BEWARE.
This has been the worst vehicle purchase experience I’ve ever had.
I purchased a 2007 Toyota Tacoma from this dealership as an out-of-state buyer after doing extensive due diligence. I was told it was a one-owner vehicle, was provided a Carfax, and was assured the truck had been inspected and was in great condition.
That was not the case.
Immediately upon delivery, serious mechanical issues were discovered, including a non-functioning 4WD system, multiple drivetrain-related problems and a dead rodent in the air filter. A certified Toyota dealership inspection identified approximately $9,000 in necessary repairs involving multiple components, including the actuator, propeller shafts, and wheel bearing assemblies.
We attempted to resolve this in good faith with the dealer — well over a dozen times through documented email.
We offered a reasonable solution: we would cover labor locally if the dealer provided the required OEM/OE parts. The dealer initially indicated willingness to help, then changed position and offered to send only a single part instead of the multiple parts identified in the inspection report. Despite being provided the full Toyota inspection outlining the required repairs, the dealer declined to provide the necessary parts to resolve the issue.
We then moved to one of the dealer’s suggested options — returning the vehicle.
What initially seemed like a reasonable path also became problematic.
The dealer began adding restocking fees, mileage deductions (approximately 300 miles), processing fees, and required that we pay to ship the vehicle back to Virginia. These conditions were never part of the original agreement and are not reasonable given the condition of the vehicle at delivery.
There were also issues with the warranty. Key terms were not clearly disclosed, and the coverage proved largely ineffective — only about $600 approved toward a $9,000 repair.
To make matters worse, the title paperwork was not properly completed. The buyer was incorrectly listed, and the odometer section was incomplete, preventing the vehicle from being titled in Minnesota.
This has been one issue after another:
• Serious undisclosed mechanical defects
• Inconsistent and shifting responses from the dealer
• Lack of transparency on warranty terms
• Improper title documentation
We made repeated good-faith efforts to resolve this. No reasonable solution was achieved.
At this point, we are pursuing formal complaints and other remedies.
If you are considering purchasing from this dealership — especially from out of state — proceed with extreme caution.
