I have had a pretty sticky divorce with…
I have had a pretty sticky divorce with my ex partner making things very difficult. After ringing around nearly exhausting every solicitor firm I came across this particular one and have not been disappointed. Hannah Wile was happy to help from day one despite my budget. I explained my situation and we agreed to have a zoom meeting which suited me perfectly with work. I told her I had limited funds at the time due to illness with my pregnancy and she was so understanding and supportive. She went through every step I needed to go through and broke things down for me to understand. I told her I wanted to go ahead with the First Appointment in court alone so she sent me a ton of helpful information and step by step guides on how to fill out the financial forms correctly in time for the proceedings. I went to court without any representation and I wouldn’t have been successful if Hannah didn’t help me. She gave me the confidence and knowledge to come out empowered and seeing things clearer by the end of the proceedings. To top of the incredible help she gave me she then emailed me a couple weeks later to see how everything went and if I needed any further help. I honestly couldn’t of done any of it without her.

I was very disappointed with the…
I was very disappointed with the service I received from Stowe Family Law LLP. In my experience, the cost estimate was not clear enough. The estimate listed different hearing stages with separate fees, but it did not clearly explain that these costs were cumulative. As a client with no legal background, I reasonably understood the “Final Hearing” figure to be the total cost for the whole case up to that point.
Because of this misunderstanding, I ended up paying far more than I expected, and I felt I could not continue with the firm after the second hearing. I raised a formal complaint, but even after completing their full complaints procedure, I did not feel the issue was resolved fairly. The final response offered only a small goodwill payment, which did not reflect the difference between what I reasonably expected to pay and what I was actually charged.
This is only my personal experience, but I felt the communication around costs could have been much clearer. I am now taking my complaint to the Legal Ombudsman

Exceptional service, caring and responsive
Every member of staff has been brilliant and would highly recommend Stowe. When in an already stressful situation it is so vital to have the support of good solicitors in your corner. A realistic and pragmatic legal representation.
Hannah represented me in a what, for me, was a complex post-divorce situation where I felt uncertain as to what to do; I was being exploited by my former partner and my situation was not understood by my family. Hannah's approach was calm and professional, she was reassuring but at the same time careful to avoid promising anything. She demonstrated a great deal of empathy and she clearly managed to parry, and then defeat, the claims made against me by another solicitor. The only, relatively minor, drawback to the process was the billing system: they had split my problem into 2 cases (child issues and divorce settlement) with 2 different budgets. I found this to be confusing, but Hannah intervened, explained everything well, and was able to resolve my concerns. I am incredibly grateful for Hannah's clarity and professional skill, and her approach has given me confidence to deal with my situation as I go forwards.
