I had an intial consultation with Emily, who listened intentively to the issues I was facing. Emily explained what the legal position was and that there was little clear legal precedent. Following further dicussion with colleagues Emily was able to clarify the legal position and identify a route forward. The other party was uncompromising so several hearings were necessary, however I felt fully supported throughout. Emily was able to engage the services of a fantastic barrister, Tonia Clark, who was able to cut through the chaff and and get right to the heart of the matter, giving me fantastic representation in court. My legally technically challenging case was handled with the upmost professionalism and I could not have hoped for a better outcome. I would wholeheartedly recommend Stowe Family Law and in particular Emily Beven who provided first class advice and support throughout.

Over the past 6 months I have used Stowe Family Law to help resolve a very complicated and tense situation. Thanks to Hannah, Sobiah and the team, the situation was finally resolved and I can only express my complete gratitude and thanks to their excellent support, expertise and advice they have given me during this time.

Detailed and honest consultation, and she sat with me for almost 2 hours (flat fee) talking through the processes and options. I walked out of there still feeling sad, but much more confident about my options.

Having had some basic advice on my divorce which was fine and paid for, I was contacted by Stowe's lawyer by email to ask about next steps. I was clear in response, knowing that the time spent doing this results in a legal bill NOT to reach out to me and there was no point in doing anything at this point with mediation ongoing and my partner delaying things. In response, I was charged £136 for this pointless email exchange despite being told I would not.
Do I now reach back out to them to complain about this... presumably only to incur more fees for their response?

I can’t praise Amanda Phillips-Wylds, Sarah Scriven and Emily Bevan and all the team at Stowe Family Law enough. From the very start of the process when my wife first announced that she would be leaving me, and fully intended to take as much of my money as possible! Or should I say in modern terms, what she felt she was “entitled to”. After the initial shock, I had a few meetings with Amanda, and she felt that my wife wasn’t as “entitled” to quite as much of my hard-earned money as she had hoped.

It didn’t end up an easy or cheap process, due to my circumstances, but the outcome was by far the best I could have wished for thanks to Amanda and her team at Stowe Family Law in Reading. My advice to anyone planning on getting married and that has any assets worth protecting is, get a pre-nuptial agreement in place first before you sign on the dotted line, otherwise you may sadly regret not having done it one day! It was certainly some of the best money I've ever spent.
