From Anxious to Confident: A Seamless Refinance Experience
I was extremely anxious about refinancing as it was my first time, but Stride Up made the entire process straightforward and gave me confidence from the start. Everything was clearly explained upfront, with all required information shared in advance, which removed a lot of uncertainty. Communication was excellent, and the team was consistently prompt and helpful with any queries. I had heard that Stride Up is one of the fastest ways to get finances approved, and based on my experience, I completely agree.
You are doing an outstanding job.

Fast response and smooth process with StrideUp
StrideUp provides a straightforward process during my Home Finance Purchase Plan application. Both email and call communication are fast response and quick turnaround time. I had my advice call with Rukshanara (Ruky) with previous initial call with Nosheen. They explained everything clearly that made the communication very efficient. I'm glad for choosing StrideUp, which is aligned with my Sharia-based home purchase plan and provides excellent services to the applicant.

Stride Up Experience
Rukshanara Khanom dealt with our case and I can honestly say it was extremely efficient and we were provided with all of the necessary information in a very timely manner. All of our questions were answered and the customer service that Rukshanara provided was amazing. Everything was explained in detail and even if we had to ask a question which was already explained, Rukshanara did not mind explaining it again.

Great journey with Strideup!
Great journey with Strideup who are reshaping the Islamic finance industry - my purchase was a corporate sale so had tight deadlines but Strideup managed to get from application to formal offer in 2.5 weeks which is incredibly quick (even for a conventional bank). There’s a stigma around Islamic HPPs especially with estate agents who think it’ll take forever to get an offer but Strideup are creating a new positive image for the sector. Monsur and everyone in the team were incredibly helpful and informative.
One bit of feedback I’d give is it would be really helpful having an individual case manager (preferably someone close to the underwriting team) while your application is going through underwriting rather than speaking to the customer service team. Sometimes it felt like there was a middle man, but it would take Strideups customer interface to the next level and I know this is something they could do.

We submitted our full mortgage…
We submitted our full mortgage application on 3rd November and received our mortgage offer on 4th December. During this time Stride Up requested a few clarifications, but overall the process was smooth and handled very efficiently.
From start to finish, our experience with Stride Up has been very good. They respond to emails quickly and professionally. Since submitting the application, I have mainly been dealing with Paul Kanagarajah, who has been excellent throughout.
I would highly recommend Stride Up to others — the process is not difficult, and they have been helpful, responsive, and reliable at every stage.

Started off great, horrible towards the end when it mattered
I applied for financing from Gatehouse but was not eligible due to being in a probation period after starting a new role and so I had no other shariah option at the time, other than StrideUp.
I had my initial finance offer from Strideup within a day or so in December last year which was really swift. However things started to go south soon after.
Firstly, they brought out lower HPP rates and as I had already paid the product fee but hadn't purchased the house, I was told I need to pay an additional product fee of £1,249 to move to these lower rates. This was despite making it clear I didn't take out the original product, and had only paid the product fee. This fee is non refundable which I get but I should have been told that it can be transferred to the new product. This was unfair in my opinion and was stressful even though I didn't pay this additional fee in the end.
Also, I was told they don't allow the product fee to be added onto the financing without paying for it first and only on completion the customer would get a refund and then it would be added to the finance amount. The issue is house purchases fall through all the time and other finance providers do allow this without an initial payment and refund. Customers hate non refundable fees and so at least they should follow the market in allowing this to be added onto the finance amount without any initial payment. Given how high the product fee is this should be of utmost importance to change.
My biggest complaint is that strideup refused to accept search indemnity insurance, whereas many other providers do. As the purchase took longer than expected the searches had expired and many other providers would have accepted an indemnity policy as nothing is likely to have changed in a few months. This refusal to accept indemnity for searches delayed my purchase and also cost me an additional £500 in search fees. This also meant the whole chain of transactions was delayed from the original completion date and had to be pushed back.
As stated earlier, the original finance offer was given in a day or so. That had expired and so I applied for a new offer and due to some strange reason this took over a week and I only received the revised offer after having to chase a few times. Even though nothing had changed on my end and all the latest documents were uploaded to the portal, this should have been very straightforward and seamless. I was not given any updates on the progress until I chased up and it was very stressful as the proposed date of exchange was fast approaching.
Another gripe I have with StrideUp is the lack of effort to progress things on the day of completion.
Funds needed to be transferred by 2pm on the day of completion, otherwise I would be liable to receive a completion notice, which occurs a £200 charge. In the morning I tried to contact them via phone, which is only reserved for customers, and also via email which I didn't receive a swift response to. Given it was the day of completion I expect any emails from myself would be prioritised. They only sent funds at 1pm after I had chased and emailed them at 11.42am. This is outrageous given the funds needed to be transferred from strideup to their solicitor, then to my solicitor then to the other legal teams up the chain. This was unacceptable given exchange was 6 days earlier and so there was ample time to transfer the funds. Other lenders usually transfer the day before completion.
Almost 2 months after receiving the keys I am still receiving emails from strideup asking me to sign documents. I receive these every few days and they are borderline harassment, even after notifying them several times to stop the email reminders.
The home buying process is stressful enough as it is but with StrideUp it started off great but soon changed. It's sad as it may mean that in future a seller may not sell to somebody with a shariah compliant mortgage because of how long it takes and the poor customer service, especially in the run up to completion. Surely they can use the same phone line for those who are close to completion as with those who are already customers as I really needed to speak to someone to light a fire under them to get things moving instead of strideup sitting on the funds.
In short, avoid. Unless you have no other choice.
