data protection concerns

I am somewhat disappointed with my experience.

I tried to buy a UPS via their website.

Although I paid on Paypal, they said they would not fulfil my order unless I also gave them a phone number.

That's a big red light. I have big data protection concerns with this outfit, especially as I have no idea who they are. Why would they need my phone number when they have my email and postal address?

To be fair, they refunded the Paypal transaction immediately - but If you are worried about putting your phone number into the public domain then you'll have to avoid these guys.

Your first order was placed using a credit card. You did not add a phone number or contact name. You card issuer failed to verify that the card matched the delivery address, so we contacted you by email. You then placed the order again using Paypal with no name or telephone number. We explained that our couriers (DPD) require this information to deliver your parcel efficiently. As it was not forthcoming we had to cancel your order.
You accusations of us harvesting your data are absolutely unfounded.

Disappointing experience.

I am somewhat disappointed with my experience. Having spent £37.51 on a UPS, I was told by email that I placed the order when there was no stock. This was not true. I was then promised a refund. This has not appeared. Original transaction date: 1st November. Today's date: 5th December. If I wasn't on top of my credit card statement, I could easily have forgotten about this. Poor and unprofessional, however they have now rectified so I am giving the benefit of the doubt and assuming this was just human oversight. Still, 3 things went wrong out of 4, so a bit to learn on the customer service front.

Hands up here we screwed up. Whilst our website did show that there was one in stock, we had already sold it on another marketplace. Unfortunately our stock levels are not real-time, they are updated every 15 minutes. We are in the business of shipping orders, this is how we make our living. That aside, we did email you to say we had to cancel and refund you, which we failed to do. I believe that my colleague has already been in contact with you this morning and apologised for the oversight. A refund was processed first thing this morning after receipt of your email to customer services.

Misled me, breached my rights

To answer the seller's reply:
"We answered all 11 of your pre purchase emails about how to return the monitor ..."

-This is true. Their customer service BEFORE I asked for return is very good. If the story ends here this would be a 5-star review.

"At no time did we attempt to stop you returning your goods. "

-This is not true. When I told you this item might be faulty you never offered me a "return" option. You just asked me to find the manufacturer. See below their emails.

"However you informed us that the product is faulty, then changed your mind that it wasn’t."

-Yes I did. That's because Mr. Alan kept asking me if there's faulty, and yes I am unsure about whether ther's faulty because without a stand I cant test its speaker, so I said maybe there's no faulty. I dont know if I kept saying there's faulty whether I can receive the RMA number from you. Probably not.

"this process is far quicker than if we processed a warranty claim for Viewsonic"

-I believe Viewsonic will not refund me. Only you can.

Characters limited. I wish I can write more.
---------
Let me first post some email history, in case if they think I am making up stories.

I want to buy a monitor from them, but I am worried about it's image quality. So I asked them can I turn it on to check the image quality, and they said:

"You will get a full refund if you return the goods in the condition that you received them in. We do allow you to inspect the goods prior to return, which includes turning it on to inspect for dead pixels etc.";

"You can turn it on to inspect the monitor picture but if you assemble the stand, it will be considered as used."

That's good, and I made the purchase. After I received the monitor I didnt assmble the stand, I put the monitor on my bed and connected to my PC, had some gaming and found the image quality very bad. I also found the speaker isn't working properly. I asked them for return&refund. This is how they replied:

"You just told me it was faulty and that you a have been using it to play games.
If you know its faulty you must have used it so you cannot return it as no longer wanted. Please contact Viewsonic who will troubleshoot your issue and arrange for a warranty repair or replacement. It may just be a setup issue."

"We said to turn it on not connect a computer and play games on it. You were fully aware of what we consider use as you asked many questions prior to purchase."

I admitted when I received their reply like this I felt my heart stopped beating. Here comes the problem. How can I check the image quality&dead pixels if I dont connect it to my PC and gaming? And why I need to contact the Viewsonic if it's faulty, the law would ask the seller to deal with a faulty item, not the manufacturer?

"If what you’ve bought doesn’t satisfy any one of the three criteria outlined above, then the retailer that sold it to you is in breach of the Consumer Rights Act. This means that your statutory consumer rights are against the retailer – the company that sold you the product – rather than the manufacturer."

I posted what I experienced from this shop on Reddit and all the comments think they're playing dirty. One comment said:

"This is completely ridiculous. Even if there's a way to test it without connecting it to anything (which there isn't, it's not a TV with a built-in demo), then how on earth you're going to check whether the input ports are working properly? No, it doesn't make any sense at all. "Not assembling the stand" may make some sense, as it may leave some scratches or can be hard to disassemble (some monitors are tricky). But "not connecting to a PC" sounds like complete b-s-."

Althrough I finally managed to let them accept my return and have got full refund (I humbly begged them), I have to give them 1-star because I think I have been cheated and mislead. If they said I can turn it on but I cannot connect to PC I would cancel the order immediately. Also, I think their staff KNOW if I want to test the image quality I have to connect the monitor to my PC. Just like if the seller told you you can test your wired earphone sound quality, and after you connected it to your PC/player they immediately rejected your return request and say"we said you can test the sound quality, but we didnt say you can connect it to your PC and listen music". Just image what you'll then feel.

Being treated like this, after I returned the monitor I was extremely worried. I worried they may find random excuses to reject my refund. But one of their staff Lisa is good. She processed my full refund, through I have to chase every day and it took 7 days for a refund.

So my suggestion is, aviod this seller, but if you still want to buy, ask them in advance. Ask them in details. And maybe pay through paypal so you're backed.

To be fair, it's OK to buy some small stuff like batteries which you probably wont face any after-sale problems. Their price is reasonable.

Blimey, you really are going to town on this. Fortunately there are two sides to every story. The title of your review is very far from the truth and you know it.

We answered all 11 of your pre purchase emails about how to return the monitor and also 26 you sent during and after the delivery within minutes. At no time did we attempt to stop you returning your goods. We understand you may have had concerns over the purchase of a £1000 gaming monitor

As per our terms and conditions of sale that you agreed to at the time of purchase and UK consumer law, you are allowed to examine a product as you would in a shop. You are allowed a cooling off period to return unwanted goods. However you informed us that the product is faulty, then changed your mind that it wasn’t.
All ViewSonic warranty is handled directly by them so had you actually received a faulty product they would have arranged a replacement or warranty repair, this process is far quicker than if we processed a warranty claim for Viewsonic.

After you decided the monitor was not faulty, you returned it, we processed your return and gave you a full refund within 7 days. By law we can take up to 30 days.
It seems you would have rather we came to your house, picked the monitor up and handed you a fist full of readies on the spot.
Occasionally we unjust reviews but you sir have just won hands down.

great service, few drawbacks

very timely delivery for such a specific item, a lack of a photo of the part meant a lot of searching around to confirm the part, a carrier what offers no signature delivery or at least an ability to choose a time slot would be appreciated as well . other then that brilliant service

I'm Happy

I'd never heard of this company, so I paid for my computer monitor with PayPal (you know, just in case).
Turns out I had no issues whatsoever. I ordered one day, and it arrived the next - indeed, it arrived before the email saying it had been dispatched!
Good price, good service, I'd happily recommend them.

Great stuff (also Jim is an absolute hero)

TLDR: If you are worried whether these guys are legit, I can assure you they 100% are and you shouldn't have any issues ordering from them!

LONGER VERSION: Was looking all over the internet for a white ASUS monitor and these guys were literally the only ones who had it (and the price was suspiciously good, too).
They only had 1 piece left, so I emailed them just to make sure it was still in stock. Not only was it still available, but Jim was actually kind enough to reserve it for me!
Ordered it with the DPD Next Working Day delivery and voila, there it was on my doorstep, less than 24 hours after placing the order :O Brand new, sealed & working perfectly! Thank you guys so much!!

P.S. Just keep in mind that they will email you with the tracking details the day AFTER you place your order, so if you're like me who chose the Next Day delivery, chances are you will have already received the order by the time they arrive :)

Great site for all your IT needs

Website simple to navigate & orders easy to place. The item I ordered was not in stock so I was offered a slightly dearer replacement with a matched price, what’s not to like.
Item was dispatched very quickly.

Ridiculously high postage costs

Whilst the product was exactly what i needed i felt the delivery was exceptionally and unnecessarily high for what could have been posted in a standard envelope yet they felt to charge me 5.99 for a FedEx delivery. Simple ear bud replacements should not be going through this type of delivery. Not very sustainable as the packaging was huge in comparison for the merchandise. Shame really.

First bad review I've left for any…

First bad review I've left for any retail company but I felt compelled to do so because I feel we have been very badly treated by this company and having read through a lot of previous reviews realise that this is not the first time they have argued about returns or deducted ridiculous amounts before issuing refunds. We purchased a Microsoft keyboard with wireless mouse via Amazon. When it arrived my husband set it up and tried it out and it worked fine ... all good, so the packaging was disposed of. He didn't use it for a couple of days as he was working elsewhere but when he did he quickly realised that it was a keyboard which had UK Querty internals with US Querty keys rendering it completely useless. My husband has to write code and some of the key functions just weren't there. We contacted Amazon and arranged the return. As we no longer had the original packaging we bought a box and a roll of bubble wrap and packed it securely. The cost of the item was £110 and I received an email from them stating they were keeping 50% of the cost because it didn't have the original packaging and because we hadn't returned the batteries. There were 3 AA duracell batteries with it and we did forget to put them in but £55! There was no comment about the fact that the keyboard was not a UK one! We have had several email exchanges but they won't budge on the refund or accept that there's anything wrong with the keyboard. Their last comment was that it had fingerprints on it ... of course it would have as it was used... how else would we know the problem. We have escalated the issue with Amazon. We wouldn't have thought to check that the keyboard was a UK one. The company is called Stuff-UK, we live in the UK and purchased through the Amazon UK website. I'm sure they will respond with some sort of justification for their actions but quite honestly there isn't one.

You ordered a US International layout keyboard from us via Amazon, advertised as part number PP4-00001. We shipped you a brand new factory sealed product matching the description. In short, we supplied exactly what you ordered.

Amazon sell keyboards for many different countries on their UK website. The image of the product that your purchased is the correct layout for US International.

You contacted us, accusing us of selling “seconds” and miss-selling. You also reported this to Trading Standards, who not only have approved our terms and condition of sale have also not contacted us about the issue.

We issued you with return instructions to send back your unwanted goods.

You returned the goods with missing parts and no packaging. Legally we are allowed to deduct an amount to cover the loss in value of the goods. Since there is no way that we could possibly sell the used products that you returned as new, we will either have to dispose of them or sell them as second hand at a greatly reduced price. It is highly unlikely that we will realise even 50% of the original value hence the deduction from your refund.

You argued that we mis-sold the product therefore it didn’t matter that you have not returned all of the goods and packaging. Even if this was the case, you are still legally required to take reasonable care of the goods whilst in your possession.

Fortunately, the large majority of customer’s that return goods after inspecting them, take reasonable care of them whilst in their possession. They return the goods in very similar condition to when they received them. These customers get the full price of their goods refunded.

We do publish the amounts that we deduct on our website.

Furthermore, Amazon have allowed the reduced refund after seeing images of the returned product, as per their selling partner guidelines.

We do listen to our customer’s and offer some flexibility, but we will also stand by our rights.
