Not worth it.

Went to Westgate shopping centre in Oxford. Although it's free to charge you have to use swarco. Now normally that wouldn't be an issue but I had to download an app in the underground car park where WiFi /mobile signal is non existent. I ended up going upstairs and then managed to download the App, that's not all. I have to fill in literally 4+pages of personal details but that's not it. Last page I had to verify email /account and the email wasn't working. After 30 minutes in the coffee shop, account created. I needed the charger number which I went down to the underground park and got the details (took a photo) as no Internet there. Everything set? No way. That would be too easy. I had to provide my credit card details. At that point I, out of principle, gave up.
I would like to say, I live locally (15 minutes) away from Oxford, used Westgate parking for over a year and it used to be free. Plug and go. Now it's still free (according to swarco rep I spoke to over the phone) but I still needed do give my account details.
worst thing ever going electric.

I’ll continue to use the chargers as its simple.

A charging point provider making it as difficult as possible

I went to Oxford for the day and parked in the Westgate shopping centre. There are loads of charging points - all provided by Swarco e.Connect. However, to use one, you need to download an app ... and there is no mobile signal and only very weak Wi-Fi in the car park. After leaving the car park to download the app, it then requires screen after screen of personal details to register - you can't just enter payment details and plug-in. After 20 minutes, I finally filled in the forms (even choosing a password was a rigmarole - it kept rejecting my passwords without saying why). Then I had to figure out how to use the charger - which had been saying occupied (yes, by me) - before finally getting a nice little graphic on my phone saying it was charging. Only it never did charge my car.
Swarco e-Connect 'helpfully' told me they send out cards in case there's poor wi-fi/connectivity, but that wouldn't be much help on the day.
This is yet another reminder why 'going electric' is a nightmare. Multiple apps, inconsistent procedures and non-existent support. It's difficult enough to find a charging point, but even the companies meant to help you make it as difficult as possible.
And it wasn't just me ... all around me, cars were plugged in and not charging, and, when we left, the chap next to me had just given up trying to get his car to charge. Luckily I have a hybrid, so could get home on petrol. Great for the environment - well done Swarco.
