Don't care

Hi, we have been bringing our pets down to you for about 25 years, and now our Lily is getting older in life and is having some problems. Lily was booked for an eye to be removed, but if the urine result showed Lily was diabetic, the operation would have to be cancelled. We were told this on Thursday when everything was arranged to do the operation, we managed to get a urine sample and got it to you Friday midmorning and was told we would receive a phone call about the results later on that day, Lily is part of our family we lover her, we had to ring up about 5.30pm and was told the veterinarians were consulting and might not be able to call us, but we would know on Monday morning when we brought her down for the operation we where told, This isn't good enough don't you agree, we have now closed our account and moved to another vets, with better telephone attitude, not being blunt about things like it dansant matter if we don't know all weekend if lily was diabetic or not, There was no concern neither.
I will never recommend you to anybody any more,

Get the paper prescription

They are good vets but have become incredibly expensive. Always get a written prescription and take it to boots. Swaine will charge £30 for per prescription then take it to boots who do prescribe animal drugs. I required two prescriptions for a months supply and they quoted £122. With two prescriptions at £30 each I got the items for £24 from boots = £84 total. Not really good enough.

Newmarket is my main port of call…

Newmarket is my main port of call although I have used bury out of hours
For those who pet is not a pet but much more like family or best friend,as it should be, you will understand, appreciate and recognise the dignity and respect they show the patient.
My dogs and myself have great understanding of how the vet works.
I recognise change and the vets diagnose the problem often only tests will produce the right diagnosis no matter how well you know your pet..
Then the correct path maybe chosen. All options are discussed prices given.
When the path is one of sadness and devastating news the teams were unbelievable and being a vet stopped and being a counsellor began...
Their job takes years of training and ongoing development as diagnostics change....
I only have positive to say

Loss of compassion

We used Swaynes for 16 years with our cat. It used to be a caring company but in the past year or so since they have been taken over by Kin Vet they have completely lost this compassion. They pushed test after test to a point where it looks like they earn commission. Yes vets are expensive but to push unnecessary tests when not needed is not on. Listen to the owner they know their pet better than you!!
The final straw was when we lost our gorgeous boy the vet told the pet crematorium what to place his ashes in when we were told we would have a choice!!! Can’t fault the Pet Crematorium at all as they went out of their way to grant our wishes & were extremely respectful & kind.
Overall the experience we had with Swaynes was horrific & added to our distress of losing our boy. I would NEVER use Swaynes again.

We went today with a poorly swollen paw…

We went today with a poorly swollen paw and saw a wonderful kind receptionist called Jackie and a lovely vet, sorry I didn't get your name.
She was very kind to ted and treated him gently. So we will now see if the medication works or if we need to go down the route of futher investigations and surgery.
As an emergecy vet our vet uses this practice as their emergency vet partner, so I haven't used them before but I may now use them instead of my current vet. Despite the 45min hour journey.

Ethel and Freddie Furcury.

I took my Budgie Ethel to have her nails trimmed, no problem. I had to take her back as she has developed a funny toe, she is 14, and again no problem.
I took my Hamster, Freddie Furcury as he was not well, and unfortunately it was a one way journey. The staff were lovely. Freddie was treated with dignity as was I. I really cannot find fault with how we were treated.
The staff are all lovely. I believe what I paid was a fair price. Certainly cheaper than previous vets.
Thank you for your kindness and help.

Excellent, accessible veterinary practice

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Swayne and Partners Bury St Edmunds to everyone. Every single member of staff is kind and compassionate and treat my cat with the utmost care. They take time to explain everything clearly. Furthermore they are extremely accessible for those with disabilities like myself who are unable to access the surgery during normal opening hours

Expensive, not thorough.

I found that they follow the reported national trend. Needlessly expensive whilst not being very thorough. So much so that I no longer go there.

Swayne and Partners veterinarian practice Long Melford

I took my cat Penne to Swayne and Partners in Long Melford at 14:45 10/6/21
She had some symptoms and I was hoping for a diagnosis.

They don’t currently allow pet owners into the practice as Covid related.
This is my second visit during Covid and our first visit stressed Penne out. I asked Florentina my vet if I could assist this time.
I was told no.
That this is the same for all pet owners.

I agreed for Florentina to take Penne for diagnosis with out me entering the vets.

Florentina came out of the practise with no diagnosis and couldn’t find anything wrong.

I was told the vet had administered anti sickness medication and I was brought 3 pouches of vetinary prescription food pouches for Penne.

I was not consulted about anything prior to Penne being administered medication.
Cats are also fussy about their food and I’ve tried vetinary food (unmedicated) in the past but my cats refuse it.

I cannot force feed my cat food pouches to make sure she takes her medication prescription that Florentina brought to me. I wasn’t asked about Pennes diet either.

I contacted the vets by phone to ask who to complain to in writing, I was transferred to Simon the manager by phone.

He insisted that in handing Penne over to the vetinary practise that I consented to her administration of medication by injection even though I wasn’t consulted first. I disagreed on the phone and left it at that in being that he wasn’t the right person to voice my concerns to.
Simon then phoned me back leaving me a voicemail, threatening me with solicitor action for leaving a review on Swayne and Partners Facebook page denying the fact that I’d contacted him by phone.

I do not recommend this business that is clearly money motivated to anyone.

We should be free to gain second opinions I believe. I don’t think this is a good code of practice.
