Super welcoming

Super welcoming, host met us and introduced the lovely flat and all the amenities! Very spacious, 2 bedrooms 2 full baths, beautiful kitchen and living area, full laundry facilities and oh my, a stunning deck. Very well designed and appointed, located perfectly between train station and town center. Was the most delightful experience! Will definitely be back

Great apartments in Milan

We stayed in Milan at the beginning of November, were very pleased with the apartment, price and location. I was a little worried about the deposit, as I never had such an experience before, but everything was returned to the card in 7 days.

Don't risk it!

I am using every method possible to warn people about this company, and about Booking.com, who (in my view) negligently allow Sweetstay to advertise properties on their platform. At the last minute our accommodation in Gibraltar was changed. The alternative accommodation was awful. After having one shower, none of our four was able to shower again because the drain flooded the shower room. The contact given never showed up to fix it before we left. There was also water leaking through the ceiling from above. We aslo ended up paying more than the price agreed for a much lower grade standard of accommodation. You might have a great experience with this mob, but please don't risk it as if things go wrong they may ruin your holiday. Also be careful about using Booking.com as they obvioulsy seem to tolerate cowboys like this advertising on their website.

Dear Tim (or Kerrie, as it appears you are using multiple accounts to harm our reputation),

Let’s set the record straight. Five days before your scheduled arrival, a major water leak occurred in the unit you had booked with us, caused by an issue from the neighbors upstairs. We shared multiple photos with you and explained that it wouldn’t be an easy fix, while also offering a full refund with sincere apologies.

At your request for another apartment at the same rate, we went above and beyond by arranging an alternative unit that we do NOT manage. We provided the link, photos, and location details of this property, which is managed by a local property manager, NOT Sweetstay. Since you chose to stay there, we are not responsible for any issues you may have encountered, as you were hosted by another property manager, NOT by Sweetstay.

We hope you will discontinue this defamatory campaign and recognize where responsibility truly lies.

Perfect stay at castaldi

First of all, I asked for early check in and they responded by sending the keys at exactly the time and despite it was written than there should be extra fees for this early check in, they never asked for it.
The appartment was very spacious, ver very clean, very well equipped.
The location was perfect with very nice small balcony full of greenery.
The safety deposit was refunded 1 week after check out ( as mentioned in the site).
I had few questions sent by email and the response was very fast.
Finally it was an experience to be repeated again

Great location. Minimal natural light. Looks better in photos.

Liked · We were grateful to get this booking last minute as our original one cancelled. The location was very nice - beautiful neighbourhood - the Santo Spirito square is always vibey with nice restaurants. The bed was nice and firm. The bathroom is new and nicely done. Quiet area around the apartment (good for sleeping).

Disliked · On our way to Florence we were told we had to pay a deposit, city tax, and a €45 late check-in fee or we would not be able to stay. We arrived to the greeting person sleeping haha, but he was very kind. There is VERY little natural light. The apartment is so low, and the courtyard is within high walls. So very little light comes in - only in the mornings. Because of this we spent very little time here - but the dark makes it easy to sleep. No couch, lots of wires tangled by the TV, etc (not much attention to these details). No where to hang towels, so it felt like this was a new place and needs some refining work. There was a dusty smell - I think this may just be the building. Apartment looks much better in the pictures.

Got an automated response to the above Booking.com review. And an automated email after my review:
"We are delighted to know you enjoyed your stay with Sweetstay in Florence. We would be grateful if you would also leave a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review on Google, it would help us a lot to increase our online visibility."

I also tried to give them feedback via the booking chat - they did not respond (but then responded to a later message). To me it feels like giving a good experience is not a priority. So sharing here since they asked me to...

This company is a joke

This company is a joke, Terrible experience with this company. If I could give a rating lower than zero, I would. The team was completely unprofessional, both in person and through messages. It took them four days to respond to my request, and we were left in an apartment with no air conditioning, despite it being listed as an amenity. The temperature was 35°C outside, and all they provided were some fans.

There was no compensation offered, and the apartment itself was in awful condition. I seriously wonder if they have any standards for the properties they manage or if they even inspect them before renting them out. The company owner should focus on offering better-quality apartments instead of misleading customers with heavily edited photos.

If you want to enjoy your holiday do not book with SWEETSTAY at any cost.

Very poor.

Very poor.

Wanted us to collect a key from the other side of Gibraltar.

The apartment was not as described, work men were working on the apartment from 9am as it wasn't ready.

Wasn't cleaned properly either.

Convenient and warm welcoming

Convenient and warm welcoming. Payment process was clear and easy, check in on time and the staff were super friendly. I've stayed at 2 of their properties now - Italy and London, and could not recommend them more than this!

Not as advertised.. awful service

We booked sweetstay 5 in Gibraltar which was advertised as an apartment with 24 hour reception and the photos were beautiful! We had an email on landing with a request for a damage deposit of £250 which we had not been told about and were not happy about but we tried to pay it …the link did not work on either phone . We got dropped at the apartment which was above a run down closed pub and alarm bells started ringing! I rang the number and spoke to a woman who was not even in Gibraltar who insisted that the link worked and it clearly didn’t!! It was bucketing with rain and we were drenched trying to sort it out. We were eventually sent another email with directions to pick up a key from another rundown padlocked building but we had no key code and no idea which key box to use because we hadn’t paid the ‘damage deposit’ I rang the number back several times and there was no reply! By this time we gave it up as a bad job and booked into a local hotel …full complaint to booking.com and we have had a partial refund so far but I’m fighting for the rest back! We spoke to other people who were staying there and they told us it was dirty, there were items missing from the rooms like bedding (pretty important I’d say!) and I’m glad we didn’t stay!

Dear Elizabeth,

We are sorry to read your review. However, as you noted, you did not stay at the property due to being unable to pay the outstanding balance and therefore never arrived. While our cancellation policy is flexible, it does not allow for a full refund on the day of arrival. Our terms and conditions are clearly stated upfront and fully accepted at the time of booking. Additionally, there is no pub below, above, or in the vicinity of the building, so we are unsure about the location you mentioned.

Shameful

Myself and a friend booked an apartment for 2 nights in Gibraltar, hosted by Sweetstay and booked through Booking.com. We were contacted by Sweetstay on the day of travel who informed us we had to pay an additional £150 security deposit via an external link before they would release the key code for entry to the property. We had no choice but to do this, as we were already on our way, wouldn't arrive until late at night and didn't want to be stranded. One month later, despite sending emails, contacting the company on WhatsApp and via Booking.com and also lodging a complaint with Booking.com (which got me nowhere and who I certainly won't be using again) my deposit still hasn't been returned and I've had no acknowledgement whatsoever of my emails and messages. We took photos and videos on check in and again on check out to prove no damage was caused, but as I've not even had any response from Sweetstay I don't know the reason for withholding the deposit. A friend who also stayed in an apartment hosted by them in the same building at the same time is having the same problem, so this is obviously not a mistake or a one off. I am now pursuing a claim with my bank but urge everyone to avoid this company.

Dear Kelly J.,

The damage deposit is required in case of any damages. Reviews like yours, or others using platforms like Trustpilot as a form of personal revenge, often neglect to mention that damages occurred. We have numerous messages exchanged with you, including photo evidence of the damages. In conclusion, it was not a mistake—you damaged our property and were asked to pay for those damages. It's as simple as that.
