Terrible customer service

My flight was cancelled due to bad weather conditions after I arrived at the airport. The customer services representative at the desk suggested that I could go and get a meal and would be compensated by Swiss air and that I had to submit my receipts on the SWISS Air website. After submitting my receipts, I received a response from Vasiti Vueti, a customer services representative, who stating that as the flight was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances I would not receive any compensation, leaving me out of pocket. Despite repeated back and forth, Vasiti refused to change their stance.

No Customer Service

I attempted to request compensation because of delayed luggage. The Open Form in the app does not work - “the server does not exist”!

After calling Swiss Air, the representative suggested me to write to Customer Relations. It has been almost a week now. There has not been a simple acknowledgment of receipt, let alone providing a response.

Experience is not worth even a single…

Experience is not worth even a single star. Just got off a flight delayed due to engine issues (!) and we arrived 10 minutes too late to board connected flight. Our connected flight was rebooked to 5 hours later and they wouldn't even bother to give me and my wife seats next to each other. We got a voucher for a meal that did not work and and offer to roam freely for 5 hours, wasting time that we were supposed to devote to much more important things. Man at the front desk, sitting under the airline logo, gave us a calling card and said to contact airlines, he was also rude, would rather interrupt us than listen (we are only economy class customers), and raised voice at us. Bottom line, it is our responsibility to ensure we buy a package that covers for possible faults made by airline, including lack of plane maintenance sufficient to cover scheduled hours, and it's not the airlines responsibility to accommodate us, as customers. This is outrageous and laughable. I would not send an animal in this flight to be treated this way. People are not a luggage!

I tried to fix a bassinet for our return flight with SWISS air. To my surprise, i found out they have changed plane models, and we were re-assigned seats. I was placed by the bassinet seat , and my Wife & 2 year old were placed on the other end of the plane. When contacting SWISS Air's customer support and tried to change the seating, they said that there is nothing they can do, the flight is full. we did not receive any notification about this change, beforehand. Totally unacceptable.

Great service, but not a lot of perks

Swiss Air is a pretty good airline overall for European standards.

There were no additional perks on board for my flight (no Wi-Fi even paid, no free food) which other competing airlines provide. However, I did find the service onboard above average, with cabin crew always trying to put on a smile for their customers.

My service was on-time and my baggage arrived without issue.

SwissAir are ridiculously expensive for really poor service

SwissAir are ridiculously expensive, 3-4 times the cost of a budget airline. And what do you get? A little bit of chocolate and a small bottle of water in exchange for several hundred pounds in additional cost and rude, abrasive and obnoxious customer service. They regularly change planes resulting in changes to seating If you pre-booked a seat it is a lottery as to if you get it and they make it really hard to find who to contact for a refund. Don't waste your time with their 'chat', they simply tell you everything you cannot do rather than point you towards what might be done.

Travelling with recovering baby, no help, rude staff, late and smashed bags

We are 2 adults, a 4 year old and a 9 month old baby who just has major surgery on his eye. From the beginning, our experience with Swiss Air was terrible. The check-in lady was rude and was not willing to discuss seat options for the long journey. We expressed concern as we couldn't allocate a bassinet seat and 10 hrs holding a recovering baby is very difficult. She waved us on and said we need to speak to the staff on the plane. Upon boarding, there were no organised queues. There was some kind of delay but none of the staff on the ground informed any of the passengers. We stood holding our babies for an hour. A few people were let on intermittently. On our boarding pass it said we had pre-boarding. We requested some information or if we could pre-board and the staff member put her hand up in our face and said "UH AH" We were shocked. Upon finally boarding, we requested a hostess to assist in trying to find a solution for us and she was also very rude and said she cannot assist currently. So I found another staff member who looked at the seat map with me but failed to assist more as she went to aid someone else. I found a third staff member who also looked at the seat map to see if something could be arranged. She promised that after take off she would find a solution. Nothing happened. An hour after take off, I went to the service area to request for some water. There was a male host who grumbled at me upon my request. He actually exhaled and looked at me and said in a very angry tone "NOT NOW, WAIT FOR THE SERVICE" I could not believe it. What is going on Swiss Air? The rudest staff I have ever encountered. I was made to feel guilty for requesting assistance. Are the staff not there to assist and help? The staff were rude, impatient and did not help at all as promised. My wife was recovering from a gastric infection and held our baby for the entire 10 hour duration. It was very difficult, painful and she couldn't even eat as there was no space.

Upon arriving our bags did not make the journey. When they arrived a day later, 2 of the bags were completely smashed. What a shockingly bad experience. We want to be reimbursed for our flight and our bags. We were treated so badly, especially considering we were travelling with young children. Our bags were late. When they arrived, they were smashed.

Worst airline ever!

Worst airline ever! We made the mistake of choosing this airline for our trip from Zurich to London. At the start of boarding, they made an announcement that they will do free check in for carry-on baggage due to fully booked flight. My family with kids decided to check in our bags as a courtesy. When we got to the counter, they charged us 80 Franc even though announcement was for free check in. Other people with bigger bags continued to check in for free as they didn’t volunteer. The staff is rude and not considerate for family with kids. Poor customer service! Don’t fly with this airline.

Day trip in Zurich
Outbound flight 2h late
Inbound flight cancelled
Rebooked flight delayed and connection not possible.
No news from the worst airline.
Would be funny if not dramatic.

Appalling Airline!

We arrived in Cairo 16 hours late and missed the first day of our holiday, due to missing the connecting flight by 2 mins even though both flights were Swiss flights. I wrote to Swiss Airlines requesting flight delay compensation and they wrote back, refusing to pay it saying the delay was 'out of their control'.

It has now been passed it over to a solicitors to deal with, meaning we will lose half of our compensation in legal fees.

Disgusting behaviour from Swiss!

Warning for flying with Swiss Airlines.

Warning for flying with Swiss Airlines.

After a wonderful honeymoon in Italy, on our way home from Naples to Stockholm, we had a connecting flight in Berlin. The flight from Naples was delayed, causing us to miss our connecting flight from Berlin to Stockholm, and we were forced to buy new tickets. We chose to book with SWISS (booking reference L7MUHA), which, for this flight, used an Austrian Airlines plane.

Upon reviewing our booking confirmation email, we discovered a significant error, a booking bug or technical glitch: my husband's name was listed twice on both tickets, and my name was entirely missing.

The following morning, when we arrived at the airport to check in for our flight, we were informed that neither of the two tickets (both issued under my husband's name) could be used for me. As a result, I had to purchase a new ticket at a cost of just under €1000, even though the original tickets had cost approximately €1314 combined.

Since then, we have called both Swiss and Austrian Airlines numerous times and sent several emails. Austrian Airlines has repeatedly redirected us back to SWISS, and vice versa, for almost two months. We have filed two complaints and refund cases with reference numbers 2408-LX-18828 and 2408-LX-18831. And were asked to file another last week even though the previous ones gave no result.

During one of our calls with SWISS Airlines, we were even advised to physically return to Vienna Airport (!) because the flight reference number (L7MUHA) had been canceled from the SWISS system and could no longer be retrieved by their staff. This was despite the fact that the flight had taken place just last month and was still visible to Austrian Airlines earlier that day.

Their customer service has been completely unacceptable, seemingly aiming only to delay the process in the hopes that we would eventually give up. We haven’t seen any genuine intention from either airline to resolve the issue or to refund us for these tickets.

When we arrived in Vienna, which we had to travel through to get home, it was highly uncertain whether I would even be allowed to board the flight (due to being fully booked) despite the sum we had already paid for the tickets.

Ultimately, this entire ordeal, resulting from a delayed flight, has cost us approximately €2,400 — a problem that should have been incredibly simple to resolve.

Awful for long flights!!

Just awful. For short flights I‘ve had good experiences with swiss but my two 11.5hr flights were absolutely horrible! The price for our tickets was pretty high but considering we had positive experiences with swiss before we decided to book. We both ordered vegetarian dishes and for both meals all we got were cold, overcooked vegetables (the same tiny meal twice)! Obviously we were starving at some point, while the other passengers got their second (also vegetarian) meal which was a pasta-dish we couldn‘t even get a piece of bread or the same dish after asking. Drinks were only served twice in 11.5 hours and brought in very small plastic cups. Over all we were hungry and super dehydrated after paying 1.200€ each for our flights! On top of that, it was freezing inside the plane - after multiple people asked the staff to turn up the temperature they said that only after a minimum of 50 complains they were allowed to raise it? Very uncomfortable experience!

My flight has been cancelled at the end…

My flight has been cancelled at the end of June and I still did not receive my refund - I had to write a specific request to ask for this (today).
I am wondering if I will (ever) receive the refund?? Ridiculously poor service while the prices requested are PREMIUM prices...!
(Due to this experience, I stopped using Swiss Air for my regular travels).

Dishonest frauds. Avoid this airline

They cancelled the flight, and lied about the reason to try and avoid their legal obligation to pay compensation. They admitted they owe compensation after I disputed it, but three months later I have not received a penny. All they do is lie and say the account details I have given them (three times!) are invalid. Dishonest frauds. Avoid this airline at all costs

flight cancelled 4 days before flight, and no service to rebook us. they just said sorry but sorry doesn't help if you don't do anything. the low cost airlines have better service than swiss, so save yourself money and headache by choosing not to fly with swiss.

Idiot airline

This stupid airline got rid of its very busy London City - Geneva route earlier in the year and said they would reopen it in October. Lo and behold, they've now decided not to reopen it at all - all the while flying FIVE journeys per day between London City and Zürich.

Surely it would make sense to have at least one flight a day to Geneva (as I say, a very busy route I used to take every week, as well as a lot of colleagues) and lower the number of flights to Zürich? Either way, with BA reopening the LCY-GVA route this winter, Swiss will be losing a lot of custom and money to their competitor. Their loss.

Do. Not. Fly with Swiss.

They broke my son's very expensive buggy and lied to us that it has been lost in London Heathrow. They never deliver buggies to the aircraft and send them on the luggage belt whereby one has to carry the child all the way until then. Our buggy was missing and then after much shouting returner totally broken and dirty. They refused to compensate and ask for a receipt from some 'repair shop' in broken English. Their number is invalid and their Swiss HO does not deal with complaints. There is no complaint procedure either. They IGNORE you and then ask some ridiculous stuff of you hoping ppl go away. They should not be allowed to operate. Do not fly with them - it will cost you more if you do. Cowboys. Never again.

They changed seats so that my toddler almost sat ALONE!!

Went through a horrible experience with this airline. I wouldn’t recommend flying with them but if you are traveling as a parent with children, baggage and stroller I would even highly advise against it. First of all, they lost my stroller upon arrival in Zurich, giving me a hard time to begin with. Then, on the way back they cancelled the flight after having sat in the plane for more than two hours already (which is a whole other story of why they even chose to cancel). Took another 50 minutes to get a bus to bring everyone back to the airport and sending passengers away for the night, making us feel like we were burdening them. Everyone had to fight for themselves to get a place to stay for the night. This included families with babies, little children without strollers and elderly. How sad to witness such lack of compassion. On the next flight they just decided to change the seats for no reason and separated me and my toddler. Thank God we were able to switch seats. This was my last time flying with them..

Denies compensation Bought a trip to…

Denies compensation Bought a trip to Canada through Lufthansa, which owns several European airlines such as swiss Air and others. The outward journey would be flown with swiss Air and the return journey with Lufthansa. The outbound trip was canceled just as we were waiting to board and start the flight and they offered a replacement trip that would take off 6 hours later to New York which required an ESTA visa to the USA and with an 11 hour wait at JFK airport and they didn't want to cover costs neither for the ESTA visa nor hotel accommodation, which I refused as I have children with me on the trip. Then another trip was offered that was similar to our original trip but 4 days later so we had to return home that day and travel back 4 days later. And when I claimed compensation for the canceled flight as well as the transport costs incurred on the day the flight was cancelled, Lufthansa denied the question and referred to the subsidiary swiss Air, which in turn denied the compensation (circumvents the EU directive on compensation for canceled flights) with reference to a technical problem on board the flight which they could not influence and it was canceled for the safety of the passengers. Regarding the transport costs, they say that they want to reimburse me, but still do not pay them back to the same payment method that I paid for the trip with, which is a (show card) and requires a Swedish bank account number with exactly 10 digits! And my Swedish account numbers contain 11 digits, which they won't accept, strangely enough, and which indicates that they don't want to pay back and, as I mentioned, circumvent the EU directive for reimbursements. Unacceptable and appalling behavior by Lufthansa and its subsidiaries how they treat travelers!!! A bunch of jokers when it comes to responsibility towards travelers. Think about that before you buy a trip with these companies. The Lufthansa group owns several airlines and has the same customer service for all these companies, which will deny you as a traveler your rights when you get into trouble!!
