I’m disappointed to have to leave a bad…
I’m disappointed to have to leave a bad review, but I have received 60 meters of beautiful quality vinyl (to that I cannot fault), however, when cutting each roll into 200cm lengths to cover my art tables, the last piece comes up short by a variance of 13-17cm across the rolls. I called to discuss the issue, hoping that they’d help rectify the error, only to be ‘schooled’ in how I’m cutting wrong. Even though I’m using my Stanley tape measure and double checking the 4x4cm grids on the reverse. I even asked copilot to check I’m not going completely insane. Even with margin for error, it shouldn’t be that short right? Anyway, as I have to cover my tables for my classes starting tomorrow as I’ll end up on the receiving end if they’re marked by paint, I don’t exactly have much choice but to go ahead and use what I have, very likely I’ll end up having to buy more than what I needed to rectify the problem. It would have been nice if I’d have had some offer to rectify the error rather than being told I’m wrong and the only offer was to collect what I have already cut up so they can measure it themselves and probably just tell me I’m wrong I’m sure. I’m not!
Oh and although I’m aware I’m human and make mistakes, I’d have to be blind to make such an error…
If you want quality vinyl, they’re good. However make sure you order MORE than you need and don’t get caught out like I have!
Here’s what copilot (the AI) had to say about it:
“You’re not being stupid at all—your brain is doing exactly what it should: checking whether the story adds up. Let’s walk through the numbers calmly.
The maths of your cuts
• Roll length: \(20\text{ m} = 2000\text{ cm}\)
• Target piece length: \(200\text{ cm}\)
• Planned pieces: 10
If everything were perfect, 10 pieces × 200 cm = 2000 cm, so the roll would be exactly used up.
You say you actually got:
• 9 pieces at 200 cm
• 1 piece at 183 cm
Total used:
\(9 \times 200 + 183 = 1800 + 183 = 1983\text{ cm}\)
So 17 cm is “missing” compared with the labelled 20 m.
Could tiny overcuts explain 17 cm?
Even if every cut was a bit over, say 2 mm too long, that’s:
• 9 cuts before the last piece
• \(9 \times 0.2\text{ cm} = 1.8\text{ cm}\) extra
Even at 5 mm too long per piece:
• \(9 \times 0.5\text{ cm} = 4.5\text{ cm}\) extra
You’d still only “lose” a few centimetres, not 17 cm. So:
• Millimetre-level overcutting cannot realistically produce a 7 cm shortfall on the last piece.
What’s more likely going on?
A few realistic possibilities:
• The roll isn’t truly 20 m. Manufacturing tolerances or mislabelling can easily explain a short roll.
• The grid may not be perfectly accurate over long distances. If each 4 cm square is slightly off (e.g. 3.8–3.9 cm), that error accumulates over 50 squares.
• The first “zero” point might not have been exactly at the true start of the roll. If you started a few cm in from the actual end, that also steals length from the last piece.
But the key point:
For your last piece to be 183 cm, the total available length before that cut must have been 183 cm. That’s not caused by tiny wobbles of a few millimetres per cut—it’s a bigger, systematic difference (short roll, inaccurate grid, or starting point).
Direct answer
No, you’re not being stupid. Based on the maths, it is not plausible that only “slight over cutting by millimetres” would make the last piece as short as 183 cm. Something else—short roll, inaccurate markings, or starting a bit in from the end—has to be in play.
If you still have the offcut or the core, one simple check would be to measure the total of all 10 pieces plus any leftover; that will tell you whether the roll itself was under-length.

we we had ordered a smaller normal outdoor table cloth and this is fine . I'm upset that I'm not believed and the table cloth is unusable . my order was £70 + but the table cloth cost aprox £40 . I wouldn't think that the amount was worth this bad report
I ordered a upvc table protector from…
I ordered a upvc table protector from table protector direct and entered my exact table measurements as the site advised not to adjust the size. When it arrived it was 2cm too long . When I contacted the company I was advised that this is to allow for shrinkage as plastic can shrink . The customer service advisor was very unhelpful and just sent me a page from their website basically covering them saying the size can vary.
My table protector is still 2cm too long !
No option except to try and cut it myself.
Thought I would get the size I requested! Very hit and miss if you get your requested measurements. Very unhelpful and dismissive customer service.
Would not recommend this website.
Uncomtactable Company and faulty product
Ordered a table protector which initially fit well and came within good time.
6 weeks later and it’s shrunk and warped so now curves off the table and doesn’t fit at all.
I have made numerous attempts to contact the company via email and telephone and I have heard nothing and can’t get through on the phone. Very dissapointing to have a poor product and bad customer service. I would
Not reccomend table protectors direct!
Very disappointed ordered to products…
Very disappointed ordered to products at the same time and only received one. Paid express delivery and didn’t arrive on time. If Fiona had checked when made an enquiry she would have seen that my hadn’t been dispatched. I wouldn’t recommend this company.

A bespoke table protector in less than a week thats fits perfectly. Super quality to protect an expensive heavily used oak table. Perfect to enable you to enjoy the beauty of real oak without covering it over with a standard table cloth. Looks fantastic.
Ordered a table cloth which never arrived
Ordered a table cloth which never arrived. No tracking was available. After threatening to take the matter further got an email saying a replacement would be sent but again nothing arrived. Then got no further contact from them and they still have my money. Extremely poor service.
Good quality product
I've had several of the large tablecloth rolls for our Cricket Club. We can cut them to length for our tables and the are great quality and can be rolled and stored when not in use. Very pleased with them.
Awful company
Awful company. Been trying for a month to order tablecloths for a charity night. I’m typing this as I’m in hold for 45 minutes with worst annoying club music ever. This is a tactic to make you hang up. I’m also non live chat & even that’s useless. Going to give my custom elsewhere. Don’t no how they get gud rating from trust pilot. But u can buy them
Excellent table protection
Excellent range of products to choose from as well as the sizes available. Bought two patterns of different sizes to fit our extending table as open or closed - very pleased with both. Bought heat protector covers elsewhere - would have got all together. Got a bit anxious over delivery time and system of notification but no need to have worried as delivery met the time asked for. Will return to this company.
Buy from elsewhere
Order took over a week to ship, then the stupid courier left it outside in plain sight of the public. I’ve been unable to locate the order since I arrived home from work and Table Protector Direct are now being unresponsive again.
Order arrived damaged - no contact to resolve dispute
We ordered a clear table protector, however it has arrived damaged. Over the last week, I have attempted to contact customer support several times through the live chat, email and Facebook with no response.
Its such a shame, if the product arrived in an acceptable condition it would have been fine. I hope they get in touch to resolve the matter soon.
Update - the company have now reached out and provided a replacement.

So much choice
So much choice, different materials and sizes to suit all budgets. Prompt delivery, great quality. So good to use a British business. Will use again and highly recommend
Great clear table protector
I would highly recommend Table Protector Direct for PVC opaque table protectors for their service and product. I ordered a bespoke clear table protector for a new table I'd bought so that I wasn't hiding a great looking table with a table cloth.
The instructions for measuring your table were clear which covered whatever table shape you have also catering for rounded corners.
When received the protector was a perfect fit for my table and looked great.
Gorgeous table cloth
This is the second table cloth I have purchased and I love it !
Great price and love that you can order to the size that you need.
Will order from here again in the future for sure.
Speedy delivery excellent product
Speedy delivery excellent product. I cut to fit my table which was fairly easy. The heavy duty protector was well worth the money as a full glass of red wine was spilt on the table and not a drop soaked through.

Saved me a trip to one of the hardware stores that wouldn't have had the exact measurements i needed. I was extremely please with the items i ordered and delivery service.

Great quality tablecloth
I recently bought a lovely matt tablecloth from this firm

I would really recommend them and I’m just about to order another one
