Shipping took forever…. I’d normally deduct stars. But the bed is so worth it. I’m so glad I found this company randomly while searching other similar style beds that were showing up in ads on my Facebook and instagram. I much preferred a company like this- off the grid(not trendy and spending a lot on marketing), and with good reviews on customer service. I called one time to check on the status of my order and they answered right away, same with email. From the day I placed the order till it arrived at my home was ~9 weeks for the ensui bed. But it is gorgeous, great quality and was easy to put together.

Ordered some tatami mats. The lead time was quoted to be 8 weeks, but they arrived 3 weeks early. They were hand delivered in perfect condition (no mold/dirt/dents in the box). Outstanding service, and at a significantly lower price than competitors (haiku designs) for the exact same product.

Solid bed frame with amazing quality. Bought the king size tall tatami platform bed in natural finish to replace my old queen size beautyrest mattress bed. A 3 inch latex mattress topper is added on top of the tatami bed. Finally no more backache! Ordered it on 11/4 and received it around 12/25.

We ordered the Tatami Room queen bed and Mado headboard in 2014 and loved it so much that we are in the process of ordering a king bed and headboard seven years later. It’s incredibly solid with a simple beauty, and we’ve found nothing to match its quality at this price point. When I contacted the company prior to buying in 2014, they responded to my questions promptly. I’m so glad they are still in business, and I only wish they still had the tall headboard available. A small disappointment, however it won’t stop me from ordering a second bed from them.

We were needing to get a new bed frame after having a cheap one for several years. I really wanted to find one that had Japanese joinery to decrease squeaking and instability that can develop via screws. I found Tatamiroom and decided to order a king sized bed frame. Despite the delay in getting the frame due to COVID (which is understandable and they provided due notice about this), we have been more than 100% satisfied since receiving it. It was extremely easy putting it together and upon opening the frame, I was extremely impressed with the sturdiness. The size of the legs was almost shocking. Our sleep has improved significantly since getting the frame and in some ways, our mattress (almost 5 years old) almost felt more supportive after getting the bed frame. Can't say enough positive things about the quality and price of the frame. So very happy with our purchase! :)

I am absolutely thrilled with the bed. I got the tall tatami bed. Including the mattress (purple mattress) it's 23.5" tall. It was extremely easy and quick to assemble with 2 people, I think you could do it by yourself but it would be a little annoying. Everything fit together easily. The instructions aren't very detailed but it's not that complicated and easy enough to figure out (or watch videos online).

The bed itself is gorgeous, super solid, sturdy, and incredibly comfortable compared to our old bed frame and having the mattress on the floor.

It did take longer than the stated 4 days to ship, it was more like 2 weeks. It's to be expected that things aren't normal right now (fall 2020) but it would have been nice to get a heads up that the shipment would take longer than normal. Once it shipped we got it quickly and it was packaged extremely well and arrived in perfect shape.

Overall this is a great product for a great price and waiting a little longer for it was well worth it.

I originally ordered a bed frame identical to this one from Thuma. They kept delaying my shipment, with no idea when it would actually ship, so after waiting 2 months I cancelled the order. I saw comments on Reddit that others had done the same, and then ordered from Tatamiroom, and were extremely satisfied.
Before I ordered the Thuma bed frame, I asked my mattress manufacturer sales rep if the specs looked adequate for the mattress I was purchasing. He said the slats were 3" apart, an they preferred them to only be 2". The Tatamiroom slats are 2" apart, so despite the great marketing abilities of Thuma, Tatamiroom is of better quality. I wish I had known of Tatamiroom before I placed my order with Thuma. My only suggestion to Tatamiroom would be to hire the marketing team that Thuma uses, it's the only thing they do better.
I am 64 yrs old and cannot fix anything that requires more than a kick or a butter knife, but I was able to put this frame together, with my wife's help, in 30 minutes. It was exactly as advertised. It was also packaged extremely well. I live in Portland ME, this frame traveled from CA, and arrived in perfect condition. The frame is beautiful.
I called the Tatamiroom 800 number twice before placing my order. My calls were promptly answered by a human at Tatamiroom who answered all my questions. FYI, there is no way to speak to anyone at Thuma, all communication is done by email, so there is always a bit of delay in receiving responses.

After searching local stores for a platform bed, we (wife and I) discovered Tatamiroom. The site is easy to navigate and is self explanatory. After a bit of research we decided on the Zen Platform Bed Frame - Dark Walnut (w/headboard). Time from order to receipt was eight days. The bed arrived in three boxes and we put it together in about 30 minutes. The piece is certainly high quality and is as described on the site. The fit and finish of good craftsmanship shows. We are very pleased.

I purchased several items from Tatami Room and I was so delighted at the quality. Extremely high end products.

We ordered the Yamaguchi platform bed with tatami, Magari headboard, and one side table. Order was placed on Jan 18th, and we received it on Feb 15th. It shipped on Feb 4th, but there was some bad winter weather after that so it was delayed several days.

The bed frame arrived in 6 boxes (one was the headboard, two were tatami mats). The mats were definitely the heaviest, but easy to transport with two people. The side table came assembled in a box, and only the handle had to be screwed in. It's worth mentioning that the shipping fee did not cover the unloading equipment from the truck, so the driver had to hand each package down to us and we carried them into our house.

It took over an hour to unbox and assemble with 4 people for the majority of the time (fortunately my parents were visiting, so they helped!). Some of the pieces were a struggle to fit into the slots. The tolerance of the width of the pieces could be tightened up. The boards themselves have a smooth finish, but the slots they go into were unfinished and rough. We almost went out to buy sandpaper so they would fit. We wound up rubbing some mineral oil onto the wood and using a hammer with a leather glove (a rubber mallet would have been ideal) to pound them into place.

The finished product looks awesome, my husband and I love it! The tatami smell is great, you can tell it was newly made. Makes me nostalgic of my family's old house in Japan. The side table is very nice quality too. We are planning to order a second.

They wasted my time by canceling the order because they where not able to ship the item I ordered and paid for online.

Also lost some $ in PayPal fees...
