Much more affordable option for complicated personal taxes
We shopped around a got quotes from other organizations that were far more expensive and many that didn't even respond to our query. If you have questions TFX gets back to you in a timely manner and explain things well. If you want $25 credit, when you sign up for TFX go to their web site and add /clt/AM1142 after .com

Be Careful
Where to start? The first problem was that I had a PFIC investment, which they didn't catch. I had to spend time convincing my accountant that it was a PFIC.
Secondly, in spite of the fact that I listed all of my foreign accounts on the original tax questionnaire, they failed to mention that I should file an FBAR, which I had to do after the fact. I paid them close to $1,000, and I think I spent the same amount of time (or probably more) doing my taxes with them this year than I would have doing it on my own.

Disappointing experience with pricing transparency
Before moving forward, I called and explained my tax situation to a TFX representative. Based on that conversation, I was given an estimated price range. I was then encouraged to pay $50 in order to receive a $100 discount on my offer. Unfortunately, the actual offer ended up being hundreds of dollars higher than the estimate.
In the end, I chose to go somewhere else for my taxes and paid about half the price. I was also told by another tax professional that some of the documents included as extra charges in TFX’s offer were unnecessary.
My main frustration is losing the $50, although I’m glad I was able to find a better, more accurate for my needs, and more affordable option elsewhere.

Professional and Efficient
As a dual US–UK citizen, I’ve been using TFX for over 15 years and have consistently found them to be professional, efficient, and easy to work with.

Easy process, timely communication
The Taxes for Expats user experience is excellent. Starting with the online questionnaire, which is easy to fill out, has helpful tips, and lets you leave comments on specific questions in case you're not sure how to answer or have additional info to share. Once I submitted the questionnaire, I received my draft return quickly and with clear guidance on what to review. My questions were also answered quickly and thoroughly. Overall, I highly recommend. My only wish is that they could help with my non-US return!

My accountant was extremely responsive and on top of everything. I was nervous about my specific tax situation and did not feel comfortable doing my own taxes as I have in years past.
