Song pitch - screener loved the songs but returned them for other reasons. …

I submitted to Taxi Music a few times for a song pitch for various artist. A song pitch means they are only interested in the melody and the lyrics. The producer and artist are going to record the song with their image. On two songs the screener loved the melody and had no negative comment on the lyrics but returned the songs because one was mastered too hot and the other he felt the vocal wasn’t pop enough. But it was pop enough for him to love the song. On the third song pitch he did not like the drums so he returned the song and had absolutely no comment on the songwriting. It’s a song pitch you are supposed to make your decision based on the melody and lyrics and comment on those two things.
The reasons for his return have nothing to do with a song pitch which is what this was. This is totally insane and unprofessional. Taxi’s comment was this is not a taxi screener he works for the record company. I am paying taxi music for the service - pitching to Taxi music and this man is representing Taxi. They should teach this screener what a song pith is or change the listing to song and master track pitch.

Taxi.com is NOT the place for a rock band

Taxi.com is NOT the place to market music as a rock band with an, or multiple recorded album(s) as Rock music listings are so far and few between. If there is a listing, it may likely require that your music has not been distributed already (via Distro Kid, CDBaby, etc.)

They enticed my band with a money-back guarantee (that is for the annual membership, not the hundreds spent on individual listings) but after requesting the money-back, the swindlers said that they didn’t give money back to people who were previously members 🤦‍♂️ This was pretty enraging because when I was a member 8 years ago, it was for home-recorded music that was not commercially competitive, however this new project is not just me alone; it’s my band’s music, which is commercially competitive, having been recorded in a legit studio, and with membership under a different email too 🤦‍♂️

What a bunch of swindlers.

To add insult to injury, they said we had not taken advantage of our membership enough to warrant a money back option, stating that we had not flown to LA to their annual conference (something that would cost thousands with airfare and lodging)

I think there must be a better way.

Best decision ever

Joined taxi a few years ago and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made! After I received invaluable feedback about HOW to write for film and tv and watching the taxi YouTube I learned more than I could imagine about how to navigate this business. I just signed another deal and my career is moving forward and I owe it all to taxi for getting me the opportunities. They take ZERO fees when you get a deal and the seminar where you can talk directly to industry professionals and attend amazing classes is FREE! Yes, it can take a few years if you don’t know what you’re doing but if you stick with it and keep submitting you will get there! It takes a lot of songs to make it in this industry but Taxi helps you write to briefs without burning any bridges if you make a newbie mistake. Invaluable company in my opinion.

Year after year.

Year after year I see them posting the same listings, with the same spelling and everything, my favorite "Top notch" Blah blah blah, I went to the convention and even with people who have a good relationship with Taxi, their conversations at some point are about defending Taxi as if it were part of a contract, and the negative always comes out, so you decide

TAXI is the absolute best organization…

TAXI is the absolute best organization for getting connected in the business of sync music for film, TV, commercials, trailers, etc,. But it is so much more than that! It provides a supportive community and hosts the premier convention I have ever attended. The TAXI Toad Rally is included in your membership and it is so amazing! You will meet people, learn a ton, connect with mentors and potential collaborators, get feedback and encouragement. TAXI services are simply the best!

Taxi taught me everything about naking…

Taxi taught me everything about naking music for TV and film. I thought I knew everything. I knew NOTHING! They will open your eyes about what production music is all about. What else? The composers connected to TAXI are friendly and dedicated.

Join for the Road Rally!

I'm a member of Taxi mostly for the Road Rally yearly conference which is free with the membership, plus you get an extra ticket to bring a guest. Anyway, I learned most of what I know about music sync and production due to the motivation I get from Taxi. I'm now pitching music to two music libraries regularly and submitting to Taxi listings when I can get something done that fits the listing. I'm looking forward to making more connections and developing those relationships into a second career.

"The TAXI ride to nowhere "Make sure you are already RICH to get anywhere even CLOSE to getting your music heard .

The problem for me is that to me a " DEMO ' is just that a DEMO not a finished song ready for broadcasting . Professional demos cost a lot of money and the artist is unlikely to do it MY way at all . The add says " Broadcast Quality not necessary yet when the reviewer responds they always use the excuse that the " quality wasn't good enough or the the vocalist could have been better . So this is rigged for people who already have a ton of money to get professional musicians to make a professional DEMO . My lyrics might be great , but they never even get looked at by the Artist since he/she is not the ones doing the reviewing and gets to even read them . So What good is TAXI to writers who can't afford thousands to make a " DEMO " that is never going to get on the air anyway ?

It didn't work for me

I signed up for TAXI with high hopes, but after going through the process, I feel the need to share a few honest thoughts for others considering it:

1. You Need to Be Almost Industry-Level Already
This service isn’t for artists who are still developing their craft. Unless your music sounds like it could be placed on the radio or in a film tomorrow, you're likely to get rejected. The standards are extremely high, and that’s not made clear enough up front.

2. Not for Beginners
TAXI doesn't help you grow as an artist. It's more like a gatekeeper or match service for people who are already there. If you're looking for guidance, development, or support, look elsewhere.

3. English Only (Though They Don't Say That Clearly)
Most listings are for English-language songs, and if you submit anything else—even if it’s well-produced—it will likely be dismissed. I wish TAXI had made that clearer in the beginning.

4. Accents Can Be a Problem
This part was particularly discouraging. Even a slight accent in your vocals seems to be a disqualifier for many listings. It feels like there's very little room for vocal diversity or global talent unless the listing specifically says so.

5. One Small Flaw = Rejection
Screeners are extremely critical. If there’s even a minor issue—flow, mixing, lyrics, etc.—your submission will get returned. The feedback can be useful at times, but often feels rigid or dismissive.

Overall, TAXI might work if your music is already at a professional level and fits very specific commercial molds. But for most indie artists or those with a unique style or background, it’s more frustrating than helpful. I expected a more open, constructive platform, but instead found one that feels overly narrow and opaque.

Do not waste your money.

Do not waste your money with this company they are not legitimate. And they will forward your music to people who are just as sketchy as they are. Shameful that they continue to take money from artists. Just don’t do it, use your money for better things and pass on these guys, 100% sure of this.
