Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 217 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently struggle to access their online accounts, describing broken password resets, persistent login failures, and completely dysfunctional website features that consistently prevent basic navigation. People also waste hours waiting on hold for phone assistance, only to receive incorrect guidance or experience total unresponsiveness regarding their formal complaints. Some reviewers were happy with the phone support when patient staff members finally answered calls and attempted to resolve tricky account problems. Consumers noted that individual advisers occasionally provided truly dedicated assistance to help users navigate extremely frustrating verification steps and missing paperwork.

Beggars belief

Beggars belief. I can log on and get through on the phone but the information the advisor gave is just incorrect. Apparently there’s no inflationary/cost of living increases on teachers pensions! I asked the same question in four different ways but he was adamant!

Teachers Pension feels like a scam

Horrendous experience with these imbeciles, have applied for ill health retirement. My college and occupational health has completed all the paperwork and forwarded to them. All they have done is sent me the same 2 automated messages saying my claim will be kept on file for future reference! I have messaged them about this but have had no response. Have also put a complaint in however, unfortunately, they can't even honour their own timelines to respond. This is now beginning to feel like a scam, and I am now wishing I never joined the Teachers Pensions scheme, let's hope it will be better when Tata consultancy services take over or we will never get our money.

Unable to get an online statement for nearly a year

Been unable to get an online statement for 11 months. Phone calls make no difference - just empty promises of 'it'll be sorted within 2 weeks, 4 weeks or some other arbitrary made up timeframe'.
Tried to make a complaint via their website and keep getting 'URL not recognised', so I can't even tell them directly how poor they are.

All’s Well That Ends Well

Full disclosure: the online form they insisted I use when taking early retirement was rejected twice. However, once my lovely HR took over, things went very smoothly. TPS could not explain why, so asked me to upload via my employer’s portal. Pension was then processed in less than six weeks - after their issues online - but I only applied 9 weeks ahead in the first place. Everything was paid on time and I was kept well-informed.

Like others I can't log in

Like others I can't log in, I'm told my saved password is incorrect,I follow the reset procedure only to be told my account is locked. Impossible to get through to on the phone or online chat. One star is too generous.

Absolutely hopeless

Absolutely hopeless. 8 day investigation into poor service and inability to supply estimated pension has now been 20 days and has only reached stage 2 - "lookin into it". There is no accountability and as pensioners/those nearing retirement we seemingly have no leverage to access OUR money.

Just to balance all the negatives…

I have to go against the flow and say that I’m generally really satisfied with the service provided by TP. There’s a lack of clarity and replies to emails take a while, but after a nervous wait I received my pension and only a few days past the due date. It’s pretty shocking that the automated phone message warns about the use of offensive language, suggesting the clearly pressured staff get a lot of grief from professional teachers - shame!

It doesn’t deserve even one star!

It doesn’t deserve even one star!
Absolutely hopeless. I was divorced neatly a year ago but my ‘pension sharing on divorce’ has still to be implemented. I was told it would take 4 months for which I paid in the region of £2000. After several phone calls; several emails; an official complaint to Teachers Pensions…. Nothing. A total bunch of amateurs. Disgraceful that something such as this should be handled by people who clearly are unable to carry out the work. Heads should roll. People should be fired. Where is the accountability???

I think if there was an option to put…

I think if there was an option to put zero I would. It has to be the worst service I have ever known. Not able to get online even though I have all my details, holding for 30 minutes and once I get through the system, is down. It is akin to a scam, just appalling.

Appauling situation

Appauling situation. I have been locked out of my Teacher pension account for weeks and I have tried phoning without answer. I have spent wasted hours on the phone with an insane hold tune for company. I have tried resetting online over 100 times without success and their website has no means of contacting them to raise a complaint except for post. THIS IS 2025 and you should be ashamed.

Utterly incompetent

Utterly incompetent. I get a email telling me of a very important message on line. Somehow I cannot sign in. It fails to recognise my password. The reset system tells me I have been locked out. Phone up and because I cannot tell them the month I retired over twenty years ago they refuse to help. They tell me to look at letters from them. I went paperless years ago. I have had to write to ask them to reset everything. I’m not holding my breath.
Capital are utter clowns who couldn’t manage their way out of a paper bag.

Spent well over an hour on the phone…

Spent well over an hour on the phone only to speak to an 'advisor' who sounded uninterested and who actually gave me the wrong information. I'm also waiting for a response I made to a complaint in July 2024. The level of service from these people is appalling.

Awful

Awful, even by the debased standards that Crapita are famous for upholding. Website now contains no useful information, the service is in a mess, and the communication boils down to a series of excuses. ‘We are sorry if, having paid your pension for decades, you were expecting some money. Or even the promise of money. We cannot provide either. But you have to understand that pensions are complicated things. So complicated that they clearly beyond us, a contracted arms’ length service whose expertise rests chiefly in shifting blame elsewhere in the system. So we won’t be paying out any time soon, we won’t tell you when you might expect some money, nor how much you are due. It’s really so complicated - did we mention that? So nobody has any idea whether the amounts involved are right or wrong in any event. Thank you for your patience in this matter.’

Absolutely disgraceful!

Absolutely disgraceful, unacceptable organisation with NO sense of duty of care for their members. Appalling wait times to talk to an advisor, difficult to login procedures. NO updates on progress of Transitional Protection payments which have long past their 90 days initial date for payout. No advice given, very difficult to understand information regarding options.

You are a disgrace

You are a disgrace, ignorant and I do not need to write a thesis on the manner in which your organisation conducts itself. You should read the reviews and take note. However I doubt tha you are able to read and comprehend the criticisms levied at your pathetic excuse of an organisation. Repeatedly I have been ignored, information given not attended to despite conversations and responses in writing. You sicken me!

This is a government disorganised…

This is a government disorganised service with no accountability to its customers. No customer complaints procedure. No inspections unlike schools. I have written to my MP about this appalling service. Suggest the rest of you do the same until someone takes this bull by the horns. If this was a private company they would have been sacked. Capita is also selling out to TATA so the service will only become more detrimental to all teaching staff.

Excuses excuses!

I find these reviews really extraordinary, if we had this low level of rating in our schools the department for education would waste no time in stepping in and taking action! Yet here we are forgotten and considered unimportant despite years of service ! I wonder if politicians pensions are as inadequate! Everything you read about the RSS statements is followed by excuse after excuse and still no sign when we will be paid our money ! The deadline has passed by a long way so no regard for the court ruling either! It would be refreshing if someone with some influence actually read these reviews and got this resolved , preferably before we die.

An absolute disgrace

An absolute disgrace. Incorrect information regularly given to me and that’s when I can speak to someone, this also changes depending on who you speak to. The whole scheme is not fit for purpose.
No response to complaints and no real understanding of literally having no money coming in.

Not fit for purpose

Not fit for purpose. No reply to messages and no movement whatsoever on retirement claim. Am owed a lump sum and have no idea when it's coming . You can upload many documents - site is archaic . They don't respond to complaints and are keeping money which people are legally entitled to .
