I have been with Tesco Mobile for many years and have always held them in high regard.......until recently!!!
On the 26th March my mother visited me in Somerset from The Lakes and while visiting she decided to ask my advice on have a contract because of the amount she was spending on payg with O2.
To cut a very long story short she agreed to go with Tesco but it would work out best if I added her to my account as that way we would both get extra minutes via their friends and family perks.
As I already has a Nokia Lumia I suggested that she got the Lumia as it was so easy to use and with her never having had a touchscreen phone I could also teach her the basics too (she is 72).....Contacted Tesco and they said there were no more Lumia 630's in stock and suggested we go for the Moto E. So we went for that but unfortunately neither of us could suss it out very well so under the 28 days exchange we phoned back up to explain that we couldn't get away with the Moto E. This was only after 2-3 days so well within the timescale but when we did call Tesco said that they did in fact have the Lumia 630 was available and even had a choice of colours. So basically we should have been told a few days earlier that there was no stock but some more were due in. So as my mother had to go back up north I gave her my couple of months old Lumia and we agreed I would just wait for the exchanged handset.
So then the fun begins........I decided to get myself a green nokia lumia 630, which was in stock, waited for a few days for a freepost envelope, which I received and sent the Moto E back the same day. I got an email the following day confirming it had been recieved and was getting processed via their Contract repair centre so it could be graded. Days passed and after a few phone calls (explaining I needed the phone asap) I kept hitting brick walls and kept getting told it was getting processed. 6 days after I got the email I phoned tesco again to find out what was happening as I knew it had all been okayed for exchange etc etc .......so what was the delay now?......but....they did not have the phone I had ordered previously in green and was only available now in either orange or black. Great!!! as I had just purchased a lime green hard cover and accessories to match a green phone but explained I could live with it but just needed the phone!!!....... on the 15th April I was told "Good News", the phone was showing as dispatched on 14th via 24hr so will be with me on the 16th but 17th latest. I asked for tracking details but they could not give me any. Waited in all day 15th & 16th for NOTHING!!!....Called Tesco again and asked for an update on my order, more brick walls put up in front of me then I fiinally got put through to the Technical Support manager who was a very arrogant and totally unhelpful person called Lawrence, who apparantly doesn't have to give his surname. He also could not give any details on where the phone was or any tracking information and EVENTUALLY after much chat and me explaining time lost with waiting for no-shows & cost of now useless accessories, he begrudgingly offered me a months free line rental. I asked for all our conversation to be logged and for me to receive a copy as proof of the offer of the Goodwill gesture which he point blank refused to do. Said I am not allowed to have access to my personal conversations etc etc.... Again, just kept throwing up barriers for every question I kept putting to him. As of 13.30 --- 17th April I am still sat her writting this STILL waiting for the exchange handset which I have no confidence that it will arrive today either. Last thing Lawrence said to me was that someone will contact me with an update as to the progress of the handset......STILL WAITING ON BOTH ACCOUNTS!!!!. Tesco are the cheapest but for a reason& god help you when something goes wrong!!!.......Shocking way to treat a loyal customer and believe me, this is only half the story!!
Very happy being with Tesco after being with orange. Everything is the polar opposite
The customer service is amazing and very well priced, even internationally. Love the cap options
Had sim only contract with Tesco and cant fault them. I go often abroad and use Tesco mobile as in UK and never had problems with it. Works fine and fairly cheap so dont understand someone who said that he got ripped off. Recomended
The coverage is okay the monthly charges are okay but beware they are an absolute rip off if using outside the UK. There are no bundles to use abroad so you pay the unit rates abroad. I Had a text from them after less than 2 days in Tenerife to say that I had incurred extra charges of £24! I had been careful to only switch on roaming when required so I dread to think what the charges could have been. My advice is stick with the big networks - they maybe a little more expensive monthly but one trip abroad in the year and then Tesco are fare more expensive overall.
I decided to change to this mobile service provider and they've been good. Would recommend to my friends.
Been with them since 2006, never a problem. good rate, brilliant coverage - even in the wilds of Maasailand in Tanzania while filming academic stuff, Kenya, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Scottish Highlands - only failed at Wanlockhead - highest village in Scotland, but nothing works there!
Fully, Fully recommend! enjoy!
Tesco Mobile is just simply the best, i brought an iphone from tesco mobile with sim and they were so brilliant at transfering my number from my old provider to them and the phone arrived quicky, even more than that they give you free credit for toping up each month.
