What the F Thalys with these new…

What the F Thalys with these new seats?????? 5 minutes and my back hurts! How shameless is Thalys to put in these s*%t squeezed in, uncomfortable seats???? Worse than Ryanair! But the prices are much higher than before

Cancellation and no refunding

I am using Thalys since 2014 and I have made the Brussels - Paris itinerary more than 60 times. Pre-pandemic, it would be a 5 star review.
Unfortunately, from 2021 and beyond, every trip had some adventure in it. During my last trip, and after waiting for 40' in the platform in Brussels Midi (with a freezing temperature of -6 degrees), we were told that the train was finally cancelled. I tried to rebook my trip through the call centre, but the line was busy for a long time. All trains were sold out for the next 4 hours. I finally managed to onboard to a full train that left almost 2h later than my planned departure. The cherry in the cake, was that even though I was eligible for compensation, after some initial interaction, I had no further feedback from Thalys (using the messenger service); and all these despite my efforts to get a follow up. After 1 month from that incident, I still do not know if I will be compensated or not. Amazing experience, considering a 240 EUR ticket for the BRU-GDN itinerary...

Rotterdam to Paris Return

Trip Rotterdam Central to Paris (Return)

Trip there was fine, train left on time, seats easy to find

Trip return, journey itself was fine again train left on time, however make sure you take snacks, food or refreshments. The Bar carriage, houses next to nothing, and what is stocked, it’s tasteless, small and over priced.

We made the mistake of thinking we will purchase food and drinks off the train, do not do this.
30€ later,
2 x ham sandwich in packets
2 x cans of bio coke

So journey, train itself was comfortable and a quick great way to get to Paris.

Delayed, uncomfortable seats, expensive, no luggage room

About 7 out of 10 trips are delayed, so not rely on arrival times. I’m only now writing a review after many terrible trips on Thalys. They’re so often delayed. There is absolutely never enough luggage storage so forget having a place to put your bag unless you’re the first to arrive at the departure station. The seats are painfully outdated and horribly uncomfortable and dirty, you’ll spend your time shifting around in your seat. Use Thalys as a last resort. Hopefully they will redo the whole experience, it’s overdue.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience! We just asked the staff for something and a black man at 12:24 on 26.12.2022 from Amsterdam to Brussel line was completly rude and got angry at us. He used offending words towards my husband and friends.
Hopefully you can do something for this.

It was the warst experience with this…

It was the warst experience with this train we get from Amsterdam to the airport Schiphol. One of the controls (afroamerikanische) when come to control the ticket was rude and use the world's (f..CK sh..t). It's not normal. To the agency pls you must training your staf and they should never kind of this world and be more polite.

The worst company and service!

We used train ( Amsterdam - Brussel) from Amsterdam Central station to Schiphol airport and Afroamerican man from service was rude and used non normativ lexicon. I don’t think that such people can work there, so please take an action and teach him how he should speak and explain. It is the worst company that I used and I have never will use it anymore!

Electric outlet exploded

On my way from Paris to Amsterdam, my iPhone charger literally exploded. They immediately secured the seat as it was not safe to use it and gave me instructions how to report the incident. I did as said and after a long time they offered me a voucher for discount on the next trip!! Not sure how that will replace a phone charger… No one reacted to my reply and they just sent me the voucher a few days later. Ridiculous customer service.

Totally unreliable

Totally unreliable : delays, trains cancelled without clean compensation, poor service on board... the time saved doesn't compensate the inconvenience. After too many disappointments, I have decided to get back to my good old car. It's less environmental-friendly, but it's more bearable.

Standing ovation for the staff of…

Standing ovation for the staff of Thalys!

Last weekend we had the celebration of 35 years International Plywood. With most of our people ( 33 persons ) we went to Arcachon and we travelled by train.
All the people received an envelope with the programme and detailed information about Arcachon. Also some pocketmoney for some spendings for these days.
The youngest one of our team, Ruben 14 years old and for the first time travelling alone abroad, forgot his envelope in the Thalys from Rotterdam to Paris.

His mother started a mail conversation with Thalys from home. After some mail contact we could identify us and then the waiting started if everything would work out well.

On our way back we had to go through metro station Montparnasse to Gare du Nord. Line M4. When we arrived there line M4 was closed!? Change of plans.
Finally we arrived at perron 9 where the train was waiting. Probably all the staff on the train knew that there was a big group arriving because all the conductors were standing in the doorways to encourage us to get the train and counting of the minutes we had to get on.
At the door where we had to enter the train was a lady of Thalys, who was calling for Ruben. He had already passed her but I knew about the story. I received the envelope from her with all the belongings in it.

To make a long story short:
We want to thank all the staff and conductors of Thalys 9351 ( from Paris to Rotterdam 18 september ) for all the support in catching the train and giving back the envelope to Ruben.

Very bad experience

I had 6 issues while traveling with Thalys and I still need to get my money back. I contacted them on August 26 two times and still haven't heard back from them.

Incredibly rude service

The train was on time but the staff in first class were very rude. For a ticket that costs 180 euros per person, the staff needs to be able to provide good service. The female conductor was incredibly rude, she woke me up midway and said I could not sleep as the next passenger was being disturbed. The funny thing was the passenger sitting next to me was my own wife. We were travelling together, the only reason she did that was because I was Asian and my wife was white so she assumed my wife was a stranger and went out of her way to wake me up and lecture me about etiquette. When my wife pointed out we were a couple and she had no issues she blabbered something in French and walked off. She never apologised for her incredibly rude and intrusive behaviour. We took trains across Europe but thalys by far is the worst. I would take a flight from Amsterdam to Paris rather than take their train again

THALYS As a holder of an interrail ticket I…

THALYS- A FRAUDULENT COMPANY? By use of my interrail ticket I unsuccessfully tried to book a seat via THALYS homepage. Called the helpdesk (from my Eu tel nr) to that tel nr as advised on their first side on their homepage. I was greeted by an automatic messenger, which informed of a call charge of €0.30/min. I had no choice other than accepting as I need to make this upcoming travel. This charge was not advised on the front page. (Later I had to search via several pages, before finding the information of a cost for this helpdesk + the price for a call). I waited almost 20 min before getting an agent on the phone, and spoke for less than 1 min (just to ask where on their homepage I could book a seat). As per my telephone invoice I spoke for 21.39 min and was charged €15.24 for 1 min of talk! Should it be allowed to charge a customer for the waiting time, then 1 min cost €1.40, and not the advised €0.30. Though the amount is not ruining me, I'm handing this case over to the EU consumer protection. This affair seems to be highly fraudulent :-(.

Old-fashioned app+website

The app is old, 0 user-friendlyness! It’s crazy to have an app like this for a travel and transports company. When you purchase a ticket on this app or the website it always bugs at some point of your customer journey. Thalys do something! You make way too much money to propose this customer experience.

Thalys Amsterdam - Rotterdam 2 trips went well

My wife and I took Thalys Amsterdam to Rotterdam on August 28 and Amsterdam-Rotterdam roundtrip on August 30. We bought our (regular class) tickets on the Internet for 21 Euros each way per person. All three trains were right on time and the cars and seats were clean and fine. Due to the short trip we had no interest in the dining car and we had no luggage other than a small knapsack.

Worst travel experience of my life .

Worst travel experience of my life .
Me and my husband were travelling from Amsterdam to Paris . We were told to keep our bags in the overhead compartment my the Train staff . We found out later that we were robbed . It is a big scam.we lost a huge sum of our hard earned cash which we had carried as cash for various reasons . We are frequent travellers but 1st time in Thalys.
I am angry 😡 beyond words and I wish someone would investigate. I tried complaining but got no help. We were left with no cash and many more days to travel. It is the worst experience and I don't wish it for anyone. Please be careful and also wish someone would investigate...and help us .

Extremely bad service

In June the Thalys back to Rotterdam was cancelled 1 hour prior to departure. I have been trying to contact them for several months now to get my money for the ticket back. They are not answering the phone en there is no reply to email or even digital contact forms. This is the worst service I have ever seen. I’m never traveling with the Thalys again!
