Expensive

It has become quite expensive for what they offer. Their gyms are not very clean, and the classes are taught by instructors who sometimes have no idea what they’re doing.

Constantly closing gyms at the weekend…

Constantly closing gyms at the weekend and forcing members to use only ONE alternative gym, The Gym Group locations look like great value. And if you don't need the gym at the weekend, it is. But the Oxford Street location (actually Wells Street) is often dirty and understaffed. The Euston Location is much better, bigger, cleaner with actual nice, friendly knowledgable trainers in it BUT Euston is often closed for whatever reason. In order to get value from The Gym Group, you have to have an upper echelon membership. If that's okay for you, then it's worth it. Also, the Yanga Water at £4 a month is often out of flavours and caffeine options - so you're paying for water.

I will give it 5* when they implement…

I will give it 5* when they implement the following feedback.

Reasonably good, great space and wide variety of equipment. Reasonably clean, more times than often, it could be more hygienic. They have a studio which is really good.

One massive downfall is no calisthenics equipment.
Their upstairs pull up bars above weight shelve in the functional section is not appropriate for usage as your feet would touch / scrape shelves. They have since put these big black metal panels (not sure what this means?) There are two multi function station and a few cable machines but not everyone can reach these.

Downstairs has a few squat racks with pull up bars, but you cannot use these if two racks on either side of you are occupied with bar bells as the bar bell ends will be in the way of you being there.

There is no other calisthenics equipment, a monkey bar apparatus with side steps would be much better.

Not everyone uses the boxing space, I say get rid of this and make it a cali section with one row of boxing if really must be. There are lots of members who train cali and are unfortunately limited causing us to go else where.

A gym should cater for all if not most athletic functions as this inspires others. Maybe it is because no PT trains calisthenics so they rather put in thousands of equipment instead.

Oh and, no sanitising stations with tissue!!! this should be standard :(

If they implement this I will renew my membership and give them 5* for actually listening to feedback - otherwise go elsewhere.

Great gym let down by lack of cleaning provision

The gym is new and all kit is in good condition. The staff are incredibly helpful and it’s a really welcoming place.

However, there are no facilities to clean the kit/floor/mats/benches after use. This means that someone will use a piece of kit/bench etc and it will just be really sweaty when you go to use it. If spray and wipes were provided, this would solve the problem. People bringing their own towels doesn’t work as most people don’t do it and those that do end up wiping sweat onto kit from their towel. An easy fix that will make the gym hygienic!
