Our gym in Newark Notts is run by 2 very good members of staff. The manageress, I forget her name, is very efficient. Always cleaning and checking equipment. And Ben, a very knowledgeable PTI, his sessions are outstanding, he is always checking on us and always put equipment away, when users don’t. These 2 are very helpful.

Newark gym is really friendly. The app is easy to use, book classes, check how busy the gym is, contact The Gym head office. But head office can be slow to respond.
The Newark management team always listen to feedback and try to make any changes asked for.

Excellent facilities, support and availability

Clean, easy access, good equipment, helpful staff - my favourite chain, I'd never go anywhere else unless there isn't a 'the gym' nearby!

Absolutely LOVE the gym! It’s spacious, heaps of equipment & clean

First of all the sign up process for the group is very easy and clear to complete. Where I had a query the telephone help desk was easy to contact and provided good service.

Of the gym itself, I use my local one in Newark. There is plenty of equipment available and it's well maintained and clean, as are the rest of the facilities which include onsite showers and changing areas.

I haven't made use of the personal trainers, but those I've witnessed seem to be welcoming and friendly.

I love the fact that the gym is available whenever I need to use it.
I was surprised that there were only two rowing machines available (I suspect this was as a result of social distancing constraints) I was also a little surprised that once I had my code for the doors I was able to just wander in and start my session.
So far only one of the My Gym team has spoken to me beyond saying hi, although to his credit he remembered my name the next time we met.
At a previous gym that I used a "stranger" in the room would have been identified fairly quickly and given at least a tour of the kit prior to starting. On my first visit it was nearly half an hour in before I identified a staff member.
