After being so inconsistent with the gym…

After being so inconsistent with the gym going from place to place for nearly a year—I’ve been with TGG and I appreciate the price, facilities on offer and classes. The instructors are great, the ambience is nice and I get a great workout every time.

Although the equipment could do with an upgrade in some areas, it’s manageable so can wait until that happens.

Thanks to all instructors that make it an enjoyable experience—Inga, Lukasz, Anup & Alex 🥰

Great value for what you get

Great value for what you get. The equipment is modern and well-maintained, there’s a good mix of cardio and strength kit, and the opening hours work well around a busy schedule. What really stands out is the community vibe — people actually say hello and encourage each other. Made getting back into fitness so much easier.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Very bad customer service

Very bad customer service . They are assuming the things and blocking the pin because i am giving training to my son. Very arrogant manager named Kinga .

This gym is a joke

This gym is a scam! DO NOT REGISTER.
I had membership with them for a couple of months and then after paying for the next whole month I cancelled my membership from next month onwards. They took my money and immediately terminated my access! I had the whole month remaining which I had already paid for yet my pin stopped working and the people working there never let me in.

I came all the way to use the gym on Saturday and the employees simply said call this number on Monday, the manager is not here, we cant do anything! We are just employees! What a shame! Taken money for the whole month yet not allowed into the gym.

THE GYM GROUP CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!
I joined many gyms and as advertised, this location (SLOUGH) of the gym group is clean and big. I can only say nice things about my experience. However, I encountered an issue that I don't know about in terms of billing and instead of the operator helping, I felt like I was blamed. I called the Customer service team (03003034800), because I went to the gym and I had no access. My membership was discontinued. I changed my membership to standard and paid £5 for an admin fee (apparently every change you do there is an admin fee), I received an email confirmation about direct debit and membership that it was successful. But when I went to the gym, I had no access. I was told by the CS over the phone that because I changed my direct debit details and was telling me that it has been removed yesterday (18/03/2025). It made it more confusing because I received the confirmation email on 16/03/2025, that all is well and in place. Instead of being helped, all I feel was blamed by the customer service and I felt like I'm being brushed off. The operator's responses are "hmm, okay", "hmm, yeah" when I tried to make a point. We ended up arguing over the phone because there was no accountability. This is the reference number of the email I received W82866278. To the company please investigate the call I had as that is not a good practice as a customer service.
With this experience, I am not sure if I'm going to use this company ever and I will make sure that my friends and family will know about this negative experience. If the company truly value their customers, they will do something to correct this. But I wont expect anything from them anymore.

I have been a member of the gym group…

I have been a member of the gym group for a few weeks now, and my account is not working despite my payments being up to date. This issue has been extremely frustrating, and the lack of response from the gym's customer support has only added to my dissatisfaction. I hope they can address this problem promptly and improve their services.

Poor customer service

In the last 6 years of being a member I have not experienced such poor customer service and support as I have in the last 2 weeks.

My membership has been suspended and I find it both unfair and unfounded. No evidence has been provided and no warning was given. I was advised to attend the gym between 8 AM and 8 PM, Monday to Friday, if I had any concerns or needed assistance. However, during this time, no staff members were present to address my issue or provide clarification regarding the accusation for the last three(3) days. I haven’t been able to access the gym for going on a week now, as there has been no staff members available to speak as mentioned in the email sent to me and as advertised in the gym.
This lack of support has only added to my frustration, as I have been given no opportunity to defend myself or receive any evidence to justify this decision. If there is any evidence against me, I ask that it be provided so I can address it accordingly. I have always valued my membership at the Slough branch and have been a member since 2019. In such a competitive market, I don’t understand why such a loyal customer would be treated this poorly.

I have spent the last year out of the…

I have spent the last year out of the gym navigating and recovering from illness and injury.
Just over a week into my return and having paid to freeze my membership all that time. Below is the email I received from the Gym:
Hi James,


It has been brought to our attention that your recent behaviour at The Gym Group Slough was once again unacceptable.

You've received this warning for the following reason:
Taking a bag onto the gym floor

We would like to remind you that repeated misconduct will result in the termination of your membership. To avoid this happening, please remind yourself of gym rules on our website.

I don't appreciate the tone or false insinuation in this email. Still, more importantly, it shows a lack of respect for paying customers by the Gym Group or the current management of the Slough branch.
Not something you expect from a company operating within a competitive market.

Not professional

Suspensions issued without cause

The staff that work in this gym seem to have some comprehension issues. I had my membership suspended without warning for 'not re-racking weights'. I remember the incident where I was asked if I had been using the machine in question and that I needed to re-rack my weight. I explained that I hadn't been using the machine but had just taken a weight from there to use on a machine I was using. This apparently translated in their mind as a refusal to re-rack weights. Quite aside from the fact that if this rule was being enforced membership wide about 75% of users would be suspended, it's ridiculous to suspend membership for something this minor without warning, even worse when you havent even done the thing they're accusing you of. Avoid.

Robust cleaning regimes are still in place and we continue to pump in 100% fresh air ventilation, day and night, we clean on a daily basis, including cleaning of all equipment and gym facilities with anti-viral products. We encourage members to bring in a sweat towel to use after they have used a piece of equipment. Having cleaning stations has resulted in a significant increase in the amount of paper waster and we are focussed on minimising our waste as part of our commitment to Net-Zero. We are proud to be the very first Carbon Neutral Gym Chain in the UK. This is just a part of our efforts, for example we are also taking steps to reduce the amount of single use plastics in our vending machines. We apologise for any inconvenience caused due to the Wi-Fi not working properly as The Gym. Rest assured that we will look in to having these issued resolved with the service provider as soon as we possibly can. Your feedback helps us to improve the service and facilities that we offer our members and we take your comments on board.

I have recently joined this gym after being with a gym for 8 years, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well this gym was fitted with up to date equipment. The cleanliness was excellent and the space was amazing.

I previously thought this gym was 'ok'…

I previously thought this gym was 'ok' for the price it was, i had friendships with members and pt's here which made my gym sessions more enjoyable. However recently it's been pathetic. We have a New manager who has recently joined and implemented new rules-1 being no bags on gym floor (any kind of bag) I understand big bags on the gym floor can be a hazard so i stopped bringing that but it seems he wants to
change everything and thats including not being allowed to wear bum bags which I find ridiculous, I dont want to risk my phone being broken. Today I signed up to a new gym and cancelled this one after having my pin suspended for a second time. In the gym group slough, U can't use plug sockets, theres signs and instructions everywhere, u can't spray down your machines and clean them, the toilets are always broke and don't flush-ive seen the womens toilets in some right states that it's concerning its women using it. I also see men on the gym floor (a certain one in particular) taking videos/photos of the women in there, the womens room is tiny and cramped. The only good thing about thegymgroup recently is that its cleaner and in the car park and the upstairs weight training section is better with it moved around and halved for classes but I honestly feel like I'm in school constantly having my membership cancelled for silly reasons instead of juat speaking to me about it there and then, it is literally like getting a detention for talking in class. The new manager has not introduced himself or even cracked a smile and i think a friendly approachable face is important. Thegymgroup music is terrible(always have to take my headphones) the taps don't stay on longer than 5 seconds and the water is cold, the hand dryers also blow cold air, no hairdryers, you also can't charge your phones, there are also no full length mirrors in the womens changing room.
EDIT- because I left a bad review and spoke with the manager about my thoughts on the gym I have now been barred from all thegymgroup facilities. Not that I would go back but goes to show how they deal with their negative feedback 👌

The bad out weighs the good.

Unfortunately The Gym in Slough suffers from a number of problems which outweigh the good.

They have had 3 managers in 2 years, so no consistency in the way the place is run.

The toilets are disgusting, several times I have trained in the morning; weekday or weekends and found the mens floor covered in water/urine. The toilets themselves have excrement or stuffed full of toilet paper.

There are machines that have been out of order for close to 2 months.

It's full of people filming themselves using tripods and on occasion seen men take videos of women working out.

It regularly runs out of anti-bac sprays or tissues so you go to a machine to see sweat residue stains.

The current manager is not even responding to emails.

Finally, I've approached two PT's when they were not training customers to enquire about their services to be told to pick up one of their business cards and email them rather than chat in the gym!

These are my experiences in just the last 12 months.

All equipment necessary for a good gym…

All equipment necessary for a good gym is available. It's functional. Showers tend to be partially blocked from time to time. They need to be maintained properly on n a regular basis. Staff friendly. Premises clean and tidy.
