Not really a top hotel…

Not really a top hotel though it seems to be advertised and described as THE place to stay in Swansea.Rather run down now, staff very friendly and helpful but attention to detail (Augusta room in ‘house’ across road from main building, could not comment on main htel rooms) had several items missing (tissues, some coffee pods), was pretty noisy (air con or was it electric system in communal area) and rsound proofing re.upstairs shower and drainage really poor.
Basically ok for a Premier Inn, or standard, hotel but not for c. £124 a night and restaurant/bar prices to match.
Wouldn’t stay again or really recommend.

Regarding Morgan’s Hotel Swansea

Regarding Morgan’s Hotel

Dear Sir / Madam,

My wife, daughter and I recently spent four nights at the Morgans Hotel Swansea. We had originally booked to stay in its sister hotel called The Georgian.
Not long after we had made this booking, an e-mail arrived from ”Aaron” offering us a free upgrade to stay in Morgans hotel. As it appeared to be an offer we could not refuse, we accepted.
Had we known what we know now we would never have gone there.
Firstly, on a positive basis, I must say that all the staff at Morgans hotel were very personable and helpful, and nothing appeared too much for them to do. I must however, single out one member of staff who went over and beyond our expectations. This staff member was Ben. When he met us at hotel he quickly went and got all our belongings out of the car and up to room. Unfortunately, the bed in that room was too small because wife has a disability. He then showed us another room which was available. The bed was much more suitable. However, when my wife went into the shower room, she saw the blind on the window, and just pulled it back gently to get a view of the outside. Alarmingly, all the blind fell revealing dreadful black fungus all over the window as well as the blind!
When we called Ben and he saw the state of the window, he said “Oh my God.” He was clearly dumbfounded as to what he should do. He apologised profoundly. However, it made us think of what the cleaning regime was like at the hotel. Do management have a role to play in this? Do they know what goes on?
Ben then set about finding us an alternative room, which he described as a suite. First this seemed acceptable in terms of the bed size and so we gratefully accepted it. Once again, he was on hand to remove all our belongings to this new room.
We stayed there for four nights. Yes, the bed was comfortable , but there were other issues which made as realise that this hotel, which had opened in 2002, had not really been adapted well at all.
On a founding stone built into the wall of the hotel, it stated that the building was erected in 1902. Alongside it was a more recent founding stone declaring that Morgans hotel had taken possession of the building in 2002.
All the rooms were extremely high - between 20 and 30 feet, which made them feel more like a barn than a hotel room. The suite which we had been taken to had no carpets on the floor. This wooden floor made it quite scary for my wife when walking over it. Also, the windowsill was covered in dust. When it had been raining outside, water could be seen on the windowsill!
There were no pictures on the walls and so the room looked anything but cory! The shower room was so far away we felt as if we should catch a bus to get there!!
In the shower room we noticed that there are no flannels available for us to use. Considering this was supposed to be a four-star hotel, we found it very surprising. After all, if we had gone to a cheaper hotel like Premier Inn, it would be standard. I used the shower twice. On the 1st occasion it was excellent, but two days later when I went to use it there was a fausty smell in there. I never used it again!
In one of the wardrobes there appeared to be tea and coffee ma king facilities. There was a kettle, a number of coffee pods as well as tea bags. However, the cups in there were ridiculously small and made of glass. I am not a lover of that kind of coffee, but I do like a nice cup of tea. However, the tea bag was too big to go into such small caps, so the tea did not last long.
This hotel is not deserving of being classed a 4* hotel! A great deal of cleaning and refurbishment is urgently required.
