Very shady business

Been a customer since 2017 ..they were decent in past years for a couple of claims...has a vandalism/arson incident in my parking lot which caused extensive damage to my vehicle and they outright refused to even entertain my claim and raised it saying I didn't have adequate coverage...I have escalated to the next level but seems like they are trying to be elusive and are giving me the runaround....they have also blocked reviews from being added on Google..which is quite shady...please stay away from this company

The Personal cannot even do the simplest of tasks and will cost you extra money.

I had to submit a car insurance claim asking for no money as that was not the purpose of the claim. An incident 3 months ago that I fully caught on my car dash cam, was later, unbeknownst to me, had the Tesla driver side swipe my car on a highway, then telling her insurance that it was 100% my fault so she she could get her windshield replaced for free. I submitted my claim as now my car insurance is now going to sky rocket. Puja Pall, Claims Adjuster, said my dash cam does show it was NOT my fault, but due to "rules of the road", would assign 50% blame to each as we were both in the same lane. Stupid of course, but better than nothing. She said my Letter Of Experience would reflect this that very same day. It didn't. The Letter of Experience emailed to me had not been updated at all. Daily calls and emails have resulted in zero responsiveness from Puja Pall. So now, I have to get new insurance with an erroneous Letter of Experience. I have submitted a complaint through The Personal's internal Complaint's Department but this process is lengthy and I need new car insurance in 3 weeks.
The one saving grace were the fantastic men that assisted me in Sales, and the pre Claims submission process. Puja Pall gets cannot do her job and and actually costs her clients considerable money due to her lazy unresponsiveness. My rate for the next 10 years will reflect The Personal's complete lack of responsibility or care, not to mention a considerable amount of money. DO Not use The Personal. A quick google search revealed their well known poor customer service, but it is Puja Pall that is responsible. I look forward to seeing the result of the internal Complaints process.

Rate change, but no correspondence

So far so good, except my year was up and they upped my rate without any letter or email sent out stating the change in price. It’d be nice if they let you know. Not terribly impressed with the lack of communication.

So, AFTER they renewed my policy and took a payment at the new higher rate they finally send me an email saying “thank you for renewing your policy”. I tried to contact them via email, but even though they say they have an email contact, I can’t seem to contact them. The more I learn about this company, the less I like.

It’s been over A Year Later, Still No Fair Resolution – Extremely Disappointeda year since we…

It’s been over a year since we submitted our hail damage claim with The Personal (claim #R1636844), and we are still fighting to get a fair and accurate settlement. Despite having a replacement cost policy, The Personal has repeatedly relied on undervalued estimates and refused to reassess the claim properly even after we submitted detailed documentation correcting obvious errors in their initial assessment.

Our original estimate misrepresented the quality of materials in our home by no fault of our own— listing builder-grade vinyl siding instead of the premium siding installed, double-glazed windows instead of our actual triple-glazed Low-E windows, and a basic garage door instead of the custom wood-clad, colour-matched door that was damaged. We provided quotes from qualified contractors with evidence and manufacturer specs to back this up.

Instead of correcting their mistake, The Personal escalated the claim to an independent adjuster, who made matters worse by recommending low-cost repairs (painting a damaged garage door and patching siding and window framing) instead of full replacements. Every professional we've consulted has confirmed that these items must be replaced to properly restore the home to pre-loss condition — yet The Personal still refuses to issue a revised payout.

Worse still has been the communication — or lack thereof. Our calls and emails went unanswered for weeks or months at a time. Only after escalating to a manager did we see movement, but even then, it resulted in yet another undervalued offer. We’ve now been told we must wait up to 60 more days while they “internally review” our complaint.

The Personal’s conduct has caused unnecessary stress, wasted countless hours, and left us with a home that still hasn’t been fully repaired a year later. We have exhausted their internal process and will be pursuing the matter with the General Insurance OmbudService.

I cannot in good conscience recommend The Personal Insurance Group. Their handling of this claim has been slow, dismissive, and based on flawed evaluations that fall far short of their contractual obligations. If you’re considering them as your insurer, think twice.

Poor Customer service

Their customer service is really very very poor, so much short staffed, I had to wait 90 minutes on the phone just to talk to a representative for quote but dropped off eventually after such a long time and it all happened during business hours, unbelievable

Not worth it

Don't go to The Personal for car insurance. They may give you the cheapest rate you can find anywhere at the start, but they'll take money any chance they get. They'll cost you hundreds in NSF fees because they don't communicate, and you'll end up broke just because of this company.

Total waste of time

Total waste of time. I spent 2h on the phone with them, trying to put together a quote. I was very up front with them about the specific items(bikes) i wished to ensure were listed items. went through hundreds of questions. In the end they informed me they could insure me, but my bikes were excluded because i (gasp!) actually use them for their intended purpose. I told them literally the only reason i was looking at a new company was because the other one pulled the same crap. Total waste of time 0/10 would not do business with these dorks
