Awful communication

Awful communication. We tried to get in touch by email, Facebook, Instagram and finally Whatsapp over several weeks before we received any reply. After letting them know how difficult it had been to get a response, they were dismissive. They claimed there were issues with their email but wouldn’t send test emails through when requested to try and make this method of communication work.

When my husband explained their lack of communication had caused us to have to look at other caterers and that as I am autistic, this had caused several meltdowns, The Pizza Oven were dismissive again and referred to this as me “having issues”.

I had tried communicating on Instagram in a desperate attempt to have them reply and when communication was still patchy at best I commented requesting a refund. For this The Pizza Oven decided instead of actually addressing the problems they were causing, to block me. It’s not clear if they blocked me before or after they were told I was autistic.

When choosing toppings, we deliberately asked for just chicken and onion and they replied changing it to a version they have on their menu which includes pesto. Thankfully we are diligent and noticed or we would have served our 4 guests with nut allergies pine nuts. We had let The Pizza Oven know about these allergies in our booking form but they didn’t seem to ever refer to this as they continued to ask questions that were answered in the booking form. Just getting them to confirm they understood the gravity of this and to not include pesto was difficult. Given how blasé they seemed about some details, it was unfortunately necessary to have them confirm this and another unnecessary stress they caused.

Given the way they treated us, we tried to see if they would offer us a refund to allow us to book somewhere that wouldn’t treat us as The Pizza Oven had already treated us.

While the pizza was good, the dreadful communication and the attitude they seem to have towards autistic people make them a company to avoid at all costs.
