I hired a dress onto the volte which…

I hired a dress onto the volte which was successfully hired many times with no issues. My last hire was from a person who completely ruined the dress. I started the formal complaint and review process, sent evidence and never heard back in regards to compensation for the damage to the dress the hirer made. Absolutely disappointing. I would not recommend this platform to anyone.

Love The Volte

Love The Volte! I’ve always had such a fantastic experience hiring through the platform. The support team is incredibly helpful and always quick to respond whenever I’ve needed assistance.

I also lend out multiple dresses on the site, and it has been a great experience from that side as well. The platform works really well for both hirers and lenders. If you’re a lender looking for a place to list your dresses, I would definitely recommend The Volte.

Dress Cancelled

Booked a dress well in advance for a Year 12 formal, with delivery scheduled just days before the event. The day before it was due to arrive, The Volte cancelled the order, claiming the dress had a stain and wouldn’t be ready in time.

This left no realistic opportunity to find a replacement, causing enormous stress right before a major milestone event. Quality control issues like this should be caught weeks earlier, not at the last possible moment.

A refund is the bare minimum and does not make up for cancelling at such a critical time. A discount voucher for future use is meaningless when the service has completely broken trust.

This experience was utterly unacceptable. I would never recommend The Volte, especially for time-critical events like formals or weddings. If you’re reading this review, check the others — the same poor service is reflected there as well.

I booked a dress in early December for…

I booked a dress in early December for my formal on 31 January. Volte accepted the hire within days. The day before the dress was due to arrive, Volte emailed me and cancelled the hire with no warning and no real explanation.
This left me with zero time to find another dress. I had to rush out and spend 600 dollars on a new dress the day before my formal. The stress and panic this caused was unreal.
This business shows no care for customers or important events. Accepting bookings and cancelling them at the last minute is careless and unprofessional. Do not trust Volte if you need a dress for a special occasion. They will drop you without notice and leave you stranded.

DO NOT buy their vouchers. The website was already glitchy with errors, every time you use the voucher you need to email them again to ask for a new code. A complete waste of time and money.

Lenders Be Careful! Dodgy Business Advice

I've been a lender on The Volte for several months & think anyone using it for borrowing or lending deserves transparency.
I pointed out that the 'shipping' fee they advisertise to customers doesn't cover express shipping outside of any city in Australia. I also pointed out that the advice to use express shipping isn't given on order confirmations only noted in their lender handbook which you won't know about unless you go looking for it.

I was given direct advice from their support staff to simply hike my fees, overcharge for hire costs under the guise its a hire fee the client is paying, while actually absorbing costs for shipping?
That isn't only ethically wrong to not provide customers with a clear idea on what they are paying for, but also doens't align with the legal requirments of ACL. You can't tell a customer their paying $14.95 in shipping, then take $20+ from the booking & advise lenders to abdorb shipping costs.

I asked was it an option to provide correct shipping costs to The Volte so my ads were honest to our borrowers, and was told thats not an option.
They insist on lying that shipping is only $14.95 to always appeal to clients.

For my exmaple, I asked for $100 hire fee to be paid, they charged the customer $136, after booking fees I was left with $83, after paying express shipping to & from the customer I am left with $27. Thats $27 for a $500+ designer dress, that was off my shelf for 3 weeks while it was being used unable to be booked by others. They want me to tell the client the hire would be $200+, without explaining $60 of that is express shipping cost ALONE.

Its such a shame as the idea of promoting sustainable fashion, supporrting women to have their own side hustles/income is awesome.
Whats not so awesome is blatantly robbing the lenders, lying to the borrower & expecting the lenders to also be okay with lying to customers on your behalf. I'm totally fine to pay for express shipping, what I'm not okay with is being told to lie to my clientel & over charge them in hire fees becasue The Volte thinks its better business to not be honest on shipping costs so it seems like a bargain on the surface.

terrible experience yr 12 formal

I have a had a terrible experience, I booked my dress months ago for my year 12 formal and less than a week out my hire cancelled on me. I then went with a “super lender” with 5 star reviews and they have cancelled on me four days out. It caused so much stress and I would not recommend. If someone asks for advice I will not be directing them to this company.

Terrible, don’t use this hire company!

There is a reason they don’t have google reviews!!! Terrible service, we booked a formal dress months in advance, it was cancelled a week before formal with no communication from hirer. The only positive was that we got the refund! Do not use this dress hire company.

Please beware, don’t hire from here

Very dodgy website and some of their lenders. No proper sizing on their website ordered a dress and wasn’t accurately described. I didn’t wear it and went return but they didn’t refund me. Very disappointed with their customer service or should I say lack there off. I won’t be hiring any clothing from this website!

What a terrible experience as a first…

What a terrible experience as a first time customer. I had an event that I needed the dress on time for. Placed the order via mobile - was unable to add a unit # for my apartment due to a website limitation. Regardless it’s normally fine to leave address without unit as it gets put in lobby. The dress never arrived and I had to buy an urgent replacement.

When I asked for refund the process was horrendous - volte said the vendor declined to give a refund for a product I never received. I explained the limitations of their platform and they refused to refund and said I would have to take it up with vendor.

If you (the volte) are providing a service it should not be on the customer to negotiate with the vendor. Such a poor experience and will never use this platform again.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Hired a dress for a wedding in March which was delivered while I was overseas. When I returned home, I opened the package only to discover the lender had sent the wrong dress. I contacted the lender and customer support. No response from the lender, however, customer support asked I send the dress back ASAP which I did. I requested a full refund as I had to rush to the shop and purchase a new dress as there was only 3 days before the event. Customer support then came back to me and refused to give me a refund because I didn't report the issue within 10 hours of receiving the dress. I explained the situation and they requested evidence of my flights. I provided my flight tickets and they came back and refused again (unsure why they asked for evidence then!). I am so confused as to how they expected me to report the incorrect dress when I wasn't in the country and I clearly would not have had any time to wear the dress if thats what they were worried about. I asked them if they were aware of a cloning mechanism where I could be in two places at once. After a significant number of emails back and forth, they said they can try and negotiate a partial refund with the lender. I refused as I was out of pocket for a dress, plus return postage and an additional dress I had to purchase due to the lenders fault, yet there are no repercussions for the lender who sent the wrong dress and didn't have to get it dry cleaned as it was never worn!? I have reported the issue to Fair Trading. Buyers beware if your postman comes early in the day and you don't get home until the night because even if the dress is wrong you've exceeded the 10hr reporting timeframe!!! WHAT A STUPID POLICY!

Worst customer experience

Worst customer experience! They sent me a stained dress and refused to refund me. Said I had to speak with lender directly or get it dry cleaned myself.
Argued that I’d opened it over 10hours after receiving it because it was shipped earlier than the day it was expected so they didn’t have to cover this, even though I in fact opened it on the first date of renting. Also insinuating I must have worn it.
So rude!! And no standards for customer service.

Possibly the WORST hiring experience i…

Possibly the WORST hiring experience i have had. Dress came a day late, i missed the transport to the event to wait for the dress which was delivered crushed and filthy dirty. The lender was not at all helpful and quite rude from the start. I was told i would get a refund and now customer service are not even replying to me. I do not recommend hiring through this platform if you do make sure you do not hire from Liz & Hayley in QLD, so rude and filthy dirty dress that they should be ashamed to hire out. They ruined my entire event and had zero care that they did.
