Thrifty foods has gone too far

Thrifty foods has gone too far. For some bizarre reason they decided to move food throughout the store making it impossible to find common items. I spent too much time today hunting for items that I regularly purchase. Apparently Sobeys believes I want to go hunting every time I enter the store. I’m done with them.

Thrifty’s website is very frustrating to use. When I do an order the screen keeps flipping back to a starter page. Frequently I search for items I know are in the store but don’t appear online-especially in the vegan or plant based category. I recently was using the website of Waitrose in the U.K. and you were able to see a list of ingredients of the item you were buying and country of origin. This was most useful, especially if you have a person with allergies in your family. Thrifty’s obviously needs to do work on its website and might consider adding those features.

Amazing Flower Bouquet

Sunday Feb. 1, 2026 we visited Thrifty Foods in Tsawwassen to buy flowers for a grieving friend, & Brittany, the employee that day, was so helpful in suggesting, choosing, & arranging the flowers for the bouquet, that the end result was incredibly lovely. The quick & efficient service, the attention to detail, and the caring interest, made a great impression us and on the person receiving the bouquet. Thank you Brittany! Thank you Thrifty’s! Your staff is always helpful and accommodating.

So I'm walking down the aisle at the…

So I'm walking down the aisle at the Hillside Thrifty's and being in a lighthearted mood I said to the chub chick on the ladder who was stocking the goods "you missed a spot". (I should have known she's a they/them/zir type person or whatever). With a scowl on her face she replies "you almost ran that lady behind you over." I turn to see this lady right behind me. Now, how I can run over someone when they're behind me can only mean one thing...somebody's living in altered reality and it ain't me! The chub then walks away with that same scowl on her face and say's that I'm making fun of her job. I was going to say no, I'm making fun of life but I figured her type doesn't know what fun is. At least she's working at a job and then I think well she's got a lot of body to feed so I figure her parents said if you're going to live in our basement and not pay rent well at least get a job and pay for your own food so we have some. Yes folks, she's a libtard, democrat, lefty type who doesn't know what fun is. They only know hate, spite, and cruelty. I can spot these types a mile away. I know she can't stand to see someone having fun so she let loose some of her sad life on to me...which bounced right back at her. Poor thing, sad sad life.

The most friendliest staff

Every time I go into a Thrifty foods Store, I am greeted with the most friendliest staff in comparison to other food stores. Super kid friendly too. Always a laugh and a smile. I am not sure how you screen your staff but you are doing a fantastic job. Free paper bags too.

The Thrifty app needs work

The Thrifty app needs work. It has left me frustrated on more than one occasion…gets struck so cant process order, order fails to go through, etc.
In general, while many staff are pleasant and helpful, things have deteriorated since Sobey’s took over from Alex Campbell. They keep pushing the Compliments brand and over-pricing others. Some brands have been discontinued so Compliments is all one is left with.

NOT happy with most of the staff and their lack of courtesy.

Shopped here today and the only staff member who did a good job was the cashier I dealt with. She was friendly and chatty which deserves the one star. Every other staff member I saw seemed miserable and failed at the most basic customer service skill; courtesy. I watched a customer try to get past a staff members cart in an isle and the staff member could easily see he was having trouble getting past but she didn't lift a finger to move the cart. She just stared at him struggling to get by. When I went past I shoved the cart out of the way but what a hag. Also experienced a staff member loading the meat section block any access to a good portion of the steaks and made folks wait until she was done. It wouldn't have taken much effort to move just a bit to allow folks to shop. Once done I had a cart and needed to get to the underground parking but the path was blocked with a sign saying no carts on the moving walkway. I ended up ditching the cart and struggled with the groceries I had to get to my car which was a total pain. It's been a while since I shopped at Thiftys and after today it will be a long time if ever that I return. Customer service isn't rocket science but most of the staff I saw today definitely failed the test.
