Serious concerns about oversight and accountability
Our experience with a shared ownership property ultimately owned by Thriving Investments has raised significant concerns about governance and oversight within the structure managing these homes.
Since moving into the property we have been dealing with extensive defects for more than 15 months, including structural flooring problems, heating system issues and poor installation of appliances. Despite numerous contractor visits arranged through the developer and managing landlord, many problems remain unresolved.
What is most concerning is the lack of clear accountability between the organisations involved. The developer points to the managing landlord, the landlord refers back to the developer, and residents are left living with ongoing defects while coordination failures continue between the parties.
Contractors have attended multiple times without clear scope of work, repairs have required repeat visits due to poor quality, and some defects raised early on were initially dismissed before later being acknowledged as real issues affecting other homes on the development.
For residents, the corporate structure behind shared ownership properties can make it extremely difficult to obtain timely resolution. While Thriving Investments ultimately owns the asset, the lack of effective oversight of the organisations managing and repairing these homes raises serious concerns about accountability.
After more than a year of ongoing disruption, the experience has had financial, practical and personal impact on our household. Residents should not have to navigate such complex organisational boundaries simply to have fundamental defects in their home properly resolved.
