Normally quite happy to visit Toby Carvery Redhill but tonight was very dissapointing to say the least. The amount of meat was hardly enough to make a sandwich. They had run out of vegetarian bak... See more

Love Toby Carvery
Love Toby Carvery, beautiful food and drinks. Always a treat when visiting. Great value for money too. I was served by Leah at Toby Carvery Slough. She was really friendly, chatty and exemplary customer service.
Can’t wait for my next visit. Always amazing!

Regular visitor to Toby Carvery at Eastleigh after a recent reopening after a fire it’s a pleasant experience. Yesterday unfortunately the gentleman on reception to book you in was miserable, unhelpful and generally didn’t make you feel welcome, the attitude was couldn’t be bothered. I will go elsewhere from now as there is always a choice.
Sausages tasted like complete chum
Sausages tasted like complete chum plankton would do a better job doesn’t help the roasties taste like kibble , there were peas boasting about all over the place 2 stars only for the Yorkshires
Beware of the parking scam!
The carvery at Redhill was okay, nothing amazing, but I came away thinking it was a nice catch up with friends. What I didn't realise is that I would pay for that catch up with a £100 parking charge for staying over three hours. When I entered my car registration number into the computer, upon arriving, NOTHING was said about the limit. I rang Toby Carvery who said that there was a sign on the door. However, in my excitement at seeing my friends, who I haven't seen for ages, I didn't see it. It would have been helpful to have been told by the waitress by the computer to be mindful of the three hour limit.
This has really soured my experience. I've basically been penalised for spending more money at the establishment. I will NEVER go back to such a scam pub.
Avoid!!!! Toby Carvey Watermill, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
Went to Toby Carvey Watermill, Mansfield Notts.
We wondered why it was so quiet at 4pm on a Friday. We now know why. Over priced food for poor standards.
Starters: Macaroni cheese was old and gluey pasta was chewy. Popping chicken was dry.
Sausage wrapped in bacon. Half were missing the bacon.
Mains : salmon Wellington was hard and extremely dry.
Roast potatoes were undoubtedly been sat for a long time lots were too hard to eat, other were showing sign of splitting. Not at all fluffy and crispy.
Carrot were dry. Can't tell you what the other potstoe dish was suppose to be but again the potatoes were grey from sitting under the Heater for too long. Green peas were shrivelled not at all appetizing.
The turkey was succulent and the green beans were fresh. Gravy was nice too.
I did compliant and the manager accepted my issue with the salmon but dismissed the issue with the toast potatoes by stating “ oh, I just set one and it was fine” thank you for not knowing my experienceand telling me all about yours. Great customer service. I did get a refund of the salmon. But paid £43 for despicable meal experience.
Overall, we won't be returning. It's one to aviod.
Visit to Toby Carvery, Burton
We were extremely disappointed with our visit to Toby Carvery Burton. Our table had not been cleaned properly, with visible food debris on the chairs, and the surrounding walls were covered in stains, giving the whole area a very unhygienic feel. Deliveroo drivers were also passing right next to our table, which was uncomfortable while trying to eat with them standing so close.
We asked to speak to a manager due to the conditions. Although we were offered another table, it was only available for 45 minutes and would not accommodate our group of eight, which was not a reasonable solution.
The explanation given was that the restaurant is due for refurbishment, but this does not excuse the very poor standard of cleanliness and general hygiene we experienced.
Overall, this visit fell well below expectations and basic cleanliness standards, when you spend close to £200 and can't enjoy the experience.
Photo's were taken and can be provided of the stains, left food and drivers stood by the table.
Disappointing from the off
Unfortunately today's breakfast experience at Old Forge Stevenage was well below par with issue after issue, from being over charged, not giving my trade stamp, lacklustre service. The food was also of poorer quality the eggs were oily and overcooked and the breakfast hash was dry as well as lacking cheese and bacon and hash browns were dry. Half of the hot plate was turned off leaving the breakfast plates cold and wet. Unfortunately the poor experience continued with no plates for toast or oat milk for coffee, then as we were finishing the staff were cleaning the till point behind me and showered me with cleaner.
If this was my first breakfast experience with Toby carvery I'm afraid I wouldn't be returning, from now on I will only be staying if the staff I recognise (lovely friendly lady with tattoos and curly hair) are working as they always greet us with a smile and thank us for our custom on our way out. Overall disappointing and 3 star rating is due to the previous grateful food and experience rather than today's meal.
Pretty Poor
Pretty Poor
We visited the Amesbury Toby Carvery on Good Friday Evening as a group of 9.
We were fairly dissapointed. The place wasn’t that busy possibly because they charge a premium on public holidays and the roasts meats were somewhat overcooked- possibly been on the warmer for a good few hours. Most of the food was only just warm, roast potatoes dry and powdery and Yorkshire puddings biscuit like and dry.
It’s clear that most of the veg is frozen, green beans, peas and uniformly cut carrots.
Our 9 year old periodically food fussy grand daughter chose to order from the child’s menu.
We placed the order and the waitress had clearly not been briefed on several of the child menu items not being available. In the end she ordered a chicken unfettered burger which was out in less than 3 minutes, the meat inside them was over cooked and the batter soggy - clearly flashed in the microwave.
Upside was that staff were attentive.
Unfortunately we will not be going back to any Toby Carvery again - money wasted

Wishing no disrespect to the staff there . PS 2. something overall STAR rating out of 5 WONDER WHY ?
Food was lovely
Food was lovely, drinks were flowing and reasonable. Emma H was a great waitress who made us laugh and couldn’t have done more. Was a perfectly relaxed enjoyable evening.
Great staff an friendly service
Very friendly service and food hot an delicious. Plates big which is just right for a carvery lol so make sure your hungry when you turn up.
We found the beef very very fatty…Wakefield cavery
We found the beef very very fatty couldn’t eat and the whole meal cold only warmed by gravy staff were nice though
Just excellent
Periodically over the years, I've used Toby Carvery, Dronfield (Sheffield) and it's always been a great experience. Great food, friendly and efficient service and unrushed. On the 14th February 2026 I booked a table for 5 people and again, the whole experience was just brilliant. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing Saturday afternoon at Toby Carvery. Quality food, great service, and very friendly. I would highly recommend our local Toby! Thanks Paul and Michael. As Arnie would say: I'LL BE BACK ;)
Toby carvery St Helens. So bad
Me and my family went to Toby carvery the waterside one in St Helens.
The chef was giving people bits of meat that he had carved right to the bone from a leg of lamb. He basically was picking bits up to put on my plate.
I gave him a shocked look that he tried to scrape even more off the bone that had none on it.
I couldn’t eat the lamb it was just fat and grizzle.
I told the waitress how bad the meal was. Thinking that she had told the manager. No manager came to see us so I just paid the bill and went.
The bill was £120 which was a total waste of money. Never again.
Toby Carvery Enfield Whitewebbs was a really disappointing experience and definitely not worth the £85 we spent.
Toby Carvery Enfield Whitewebbs was a really disappointing experience and definitely not worth the £85 we spent.
The service was poor from the start. We were shown to our table and then just left. I had specifically booked while making sure there would be space for a buggy, yet we were placed right at the far back with steps, which was really inconvenient. There was no highchair at the table either, despite us dining with a 1-year-old.
No one came back to explain how the carvery worked, so we ended up going up ourselves, unsure what plate options we were actually entitled to. We could see other people with different plate sizes and assumed it was adult vs child, but when we got the receipt mine was apparently an XL plate. There was absolutely no difference in meat portion though — in fact, my child’s regular carvery had the same amount, if not more, meat than mine and my partner’s. The meat servings were tiny, basically one slither per choice, despite being able to choose 3 out of 5 meats.
The food itself was awful. It was dry, hard and bland. The roast potatoes were not crispy at all, the chipolata sausages were dry, and the Yorkshire pudding was like eating puffed air. For a carvery, it was really poor quality.
The highchair was also dirty and didn’t even have a tray, which made feeding my baby difficult, and again there was no staff member around to help.
The only time table staff seemed to appear quickly was when we had finished eating — someone came to clear the table almost immediately after my last bite, and that was the first time I’d really seen anyone. We ordered dessert, and while my partner said the ice cream was nice, the rest was poor again. The apple pie and custard came with barely warm custard, and the cheesecake my son ordered was covered in sticky red sauce with the spoon planted right in the middle of it. My son is autistic, so that immediately put him off and did not go down well at all.
After dessert we were then left waiting ages for the bill while my baby was crying. I eventually had to chase another member of staff, only to be told it was ‘another lady for your area’. I explained I hadn’t seen her for ages. Eventually she came over, but by that point we were just desperate to leave.
Even the car park was awful — full of potholes and with no clear markings for the exit or right of way.
Overall, a very poor experience, awful service, dry forgettable food, and a complete waste of £85. Definitely one to avoid. No stars if I could give that.”
Uber Eats order gone wrong
Ordered from their Exeter restaurant on Uber eats, got told the order was ready and a courier was on the way. Courier waited 35 minutes then left. Assigned another courier who waited there and then, an hour and 40 minutes after ordering it got cancelled. No communication at all. If you’re too busy don’t accept orders. Ridiculous.
Very disappointed with the whole…
Very disappointed with the whole experience.
Restaurant looked run down and in need of a good clean.
The quality of the food was very poor.
I had some Turkey and Beef with my mains and was served what I can only describe as scraps of both, bits of the turkey scraps fell on the counter only to be picked up by the Chef and put on my plate.
It appeared all the vegetables were standing under lights for some time they were dried out and luke warm, the roast potatoes were rock hard and cold..
Half way through our meal the waiter asked if everything was ok and when we said no the food wasn’t hot she just walked away.
Wouldn’t recommend Toby Cavery .
Lovely food at Toby
