I would recommend Tonic to anyone who is thinking about weight loss surgery. I had my surgery on 26/07/2025. I have received an outstanding service from the first phone call to them to this day. They really do care about their patients. The whole team are just brilliant, Mr Sherif Awad was my surgeon at Derby Royal Hospital, he was amazing along with all the hospital staff. I have lost 32kg in just over 12 weeks and have now reversed my diabetes. I feel fantastic. The Tonic journey continues and the support is still there. Thank you so much to everyone in the team.

Gastric Sleeve with Tonic Surgery – Life-Changing!
After returning from holiday feeling bloated and fed up with years of yo-yo dieting, I reached out to Tonic Surgery. I didn’t have a huge amount of weight to lose, but I wanted to feel like me again. I’d tried everything from fad diets, injections, fasting, but nothing stuck.
Tonic responded quickly and sent me all the information I needed to make an informed decision. I had a follow-up consultation with Dr Awad, and my husband joined to understand the process too. If you're in a relationship, it’s important to involve your partner, they’ll have questions and concerns, and Tonic made sure we both felt reassured.
Once I decided to go ahead, everything moved smoothly. The pre-op checks at Derby Hospital were thorough and friendly, and the Saturday surgery on 31st May 25 was seamless. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left, I felt cared for and informed. The team explained everything in detail and their professionalism was outstanding.
The aftercare has been just as impressive. Rebecca, the Tonic nurse, has been incredibly supportive and always available when I’ve needed guidance. Lisa, the dietician, is knowledgeable and kind and her advice has been invaluable.
One of the unexpected highlights has been the Facebook community. It’s empowering to see others’ journeys, share struggles and wins, and know you’re not alone. The fact that Tonic staff actively engage in the group makes it even more special.
I had the Gastric Sleeve surgery and I feel amazing. If you’re considering weight loss surgery, I wholeheartedly recommend booking a consultation with Tonic. It’s not just a procedure, it’s a pathway to feeling like yourself again. Truly life-changing.

Tonic have been so brilliant with me in particular my coordinator Melissa. I reached out almost 2 years ago originally and Melissa has always been so happy to give me any guidance and support and has been so patient until I was ready. I decided to book the beginning of September and advised I wanted a speedy date. Melissa rallied around late at night to reserve me an available slot. She's always so responsive and helpful. The rest of the team are brilliant too. My bariatric nurse called the day after my release from hospital and was thorough giving great advice and I'm looking forward to making use of their psychiatric post operative support to be the most successful I can be post op! Would recommend Tonic to everyone.

Completely Life changing
I had my surgery in November 2023 and it was managed professionally and efficiently.
My surgeon was Mr Simon Dexter and he put my mind at rest and explained everything to me beforehand.
I was extremely nervous as I have never had surgery before, but needn't have worried. The hospital in Leeds was amazing and my surgery went without a hitch.
The Tonic team were in touch from day 1 giving me advice and hand holding me whilst I got to grips with my body post surgery and the dietician was a huge help with assisting me in the first few weeks post surgery when you feel that you will never be able to eat normally again - spoiler alert - you can!
I had consistent weight loss over the next 18 months , helped by joining a gym as soon as I got the ok from my surgeon.
I started training with a PT every week and in September 2025 I completed a Deadly Dozen fitness race at the age of 52. I have also signed up for my first Hyrox!
I have lost 7 stone 5 pounds, gone from a size 22 to a 12 and don't have any loose skin thanks to the weight training.
Absolutely changed my life and can't thank the Tonic team and Mr Dexter enough.

I had my gastric sleeve with TONIC on 18th September 2025 and although not much time has passed, I can honestly say I am beyond impressed. My first point of contact was with my Patient Co-ordinator Melissa, who answered every question I had, calmed my fears and guided me every step of the way until surgery day. To say I felt supported is an understatement. My surgeon Mr Adamo again clearly informed me of what to expect and was lovely to meet in person. The abundance of information that I received from Tonic left me in no doubt how to manage each stage of my journey and 3 weeks after LRD and 11 days post surgery, I have lost 12kg, which feels amazing. My only regret in this whole process is that I didn’t do this sooner!! I highly recommend TONIC to anyone considering weight loss surgery.

I had a great experience
I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with Tonic. Right from the first contact they were very helpful and upfront about everything. I was given all the information I needed to choose the right procedure and hospital and even surgeon. They even evaluated me psychologically to make sure I would be able to cope.
The operation went brilliantly, and I had absolutely none of the problems or side effects that some people have.
Tonic were in contact with me every day for the first week and gradually tailed it down to once a month. There is a five year support system that gives me access to nutritional , mental health and exercise advice and I can contact Tonic themselves with any questions I have. There is even a Facebook support group.
I am very glad I chose Tonic and would recommend to anyone looking to have bariatric surgery.
(At the other end of the scale,14 months after being referred to the nhs ....my file has yet to be even looked at.)

Booking in was easy with Tonic
Booking in was easy with Tonic. I talked to people who understood how I felt and they could offer me real life experience into what to expect. This made me feel confident and knew that the aftercare provided would help me succeed.
I had a consultation with my consultant Mr Awad who was very knowledgeable and made me feel at ease. He was able to answer my questions and was able to give me all the information I needed to feel comfortable with the procedure and more importantly expectations after surgery.
When I got to the hospital, everything was professional and I felt looked after. I had my surgery August 2025, so it’s still early days for me. The aftercare so far has been great. No question is a stupid question and the team are very easy to contact.
My only personal regret is not doing this sooner.
