Tradewinds Oriental Shop is a family run business specialising in providing the finest food and drinks, furniture, and kitchenware from Asia. Established in 1984, we first commenced trading at our local market in Scunthorpe selling a small selection of basic Chinese cooking ingredients and a variety of Oriental Arts and Crafts. After 2 years there was sufficient demand to open a small shop on Mary Street, Scunthorpe. Demand soon dictated a move to larger premises and in 1991 we moved to our current premises on Cole Street, Scunthorpe. Tradewinds Oriental Shop has continued to grow and in 2008 we launched our online website offering consumers within the UK and Europe the opportunity to purchase our products at the click of a button. Demand for Asian food and drink has continued to grow in popularity over the years which have led to the expansion of our current shop and warehouse premises in recent years. We now stock over 5000 products from across Asia. Our inventory will continue to grow with new lines becoming available both online and in our shop on a weekly basis. We remain passionate and great effort goes into sourcing and finding the best authentic ingredients and providing these to all our customers within the UK and around the World.

Thought I had found the perfect source but dispatch was slow which meant delivery slow. Postage not cheap. Will be looking for alternative moving forward.

Not a good experience
First time using it. Ordered frozen and non frozen.
Because I have frozen, straightaway, the delivery became express which means expensive. On top of that, frozen items had a ‘frozen packaged’ cost. Meaning, I’m charged twice for frozen items.
Ordered on a sat, as said on website, all frozen items will only be dispatched between tues-Thursday. On Monday, I’ve got an email saying 2 items is out of stock, awaiting arrival of stock on Thursday. Thinking so if the arrival is only on Thursday for items, again, goods will not be delivered until the next tues-Thursday. So, I told them to refund me that missing 2 items and continue with the rest.
Today, the big day came, yes.. the frozen items. However, the rest of the items were missing. I was not told it would be 2 parcels. Just wondering how 1 parcel arrived and not the other. Had I not chased, no one is the wiser where those items would have disappeared to.
Lesson learnt.. I will not be using them again.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry that your first order with us did not meet your expectations, but we would like to clarify a few points regarding the delivery.
Your order was placed on Saturday and was dispatched on Tuesday, the first available frozen dispatch day. The order was sent in two parcels; unfortunately, one of the DPD parcels was delayed in transit and arrived on Thursday rather than Wednesday. Both parcels were therefore delivered within our stated delivery timeframe of up to 5 working days.
Regarding the two unavailable items, these were fresh products which are delivered to us each Thursday. We contacted you on Monday to make you aware of this and gave you the option to wait for the incoming stock. Had you chosen to wait, we would have dispatched the complete order on Thursday for delivery on Friday, which would also have been within our stated delivery timeframe. At your request, we instead refunded these two items and dispatched the remainder without waiting.
We also appreciate your comments regarding the frozen delivery and packaging charges. Frozen products require specialist insulated packaging and an express courier service to maintain the cold chain during transit, which is why these charges apply.
Where we could have done better was making it clearer that your order had been dispatched as two separate parcels. We apologise for the confusion this caused, particularly when only one parcel initially arrived.
We’re disappointed that this experience means you would not use us again, but we appreciate the feedback and will take the communication point on board.

Terrible company with an awful customer care team
Terrible company, They sent me a very poor quality drinking mug, that had not had the final glaze, making it unfit for human use. They said I could return it but refuse to pay for the return postage.. You would do well to avoid!

This is a traditional-style Chinese porcelain product and, as such, the finish can differ from the highly uniform appearance of modern mass-produced tableware. We did not agree with your assessment that the item was necessarily defective or unfit for use based on the concerns raised.
However, as you were unhappy with the product, we were more than happy for you to return it to us for a refund. As we had not established that the item was faulty, we did not agree to cover the cost of the return postage.
We feel that offering a return and refund was a reasonable way to resolve the matter, although we appreciate that you remain disappointed with the outcome.

I emailed asking if they delivered to the Channel Islands and email correspondence was quick and all information given was easy to understand. Very helpful. Quick delivery to island also and was kept in communication when the delivery was being shipped over. Could not fault service at all and will definitely be using Tradewinds again for my oriental shop.

Great Store, Products, and Service
The store had a great selection of products and delivery was very quick. Products were reasonably priced, too. I had to swap an ordered item before it shipped and they were very helpful with that as well. Very good shopping experience ... a model many other places could learn from.

Good products, terrible practices
I was very happy with the product, but repeated nagging for a glowing write-up on some bottom feeding review site is intrusive and unwelcome and I hope everyone who does it catches a painful and embarrassing venereal disease.
