My Travel FX experience. …
I had been looking at the Travel FX site for a while and was looking for a good rate on the Canadian dollar. I set up to receive an email once the Canadian dollar hit the required rate. And the rate was by far the best rate of any other company I'd be looking at. The purchase was easy and straightforward and I received the dollars via Royal Mail Special Guaranteed delivery the very next day. It has to be signed for so make sure you're home. Communication is key in my opinion and they communicated every step of the way. Excellent communication! Excellent service! I will 100% be using Travel FX for my future travels abroad.

SCAM COMPANY - ZERO STARS
Absolute scam of a company! Total incompetence that costs customers money!
If I could give Travel FX zero stars, I would. This company is a complete joke. They delivered my travel currency two whole weeks after I had already returned from my trip. What good is travel money when the holiday is over?To make their pathetic service even worse, they refuse to provide a returns label for their own massive failure. Instead, they expect me to use their 'buy-back' service, meaning they want me to take a financial hit and lose money on the exchange rate just to fix their mistake!They miss their delivery window by weeks, completely derail your holiday planning, and then try to trick you into a financial penalty to line their own pockets. It is an absolute racket and daylight robbery.
The complaints procedure is an absolute joke and nothing came of it.
I've sent all this information and correspondence to my bank as I'm doing a chargeback, the head of operations seems to think if I go ahead it's "fraudulent", well they have the evidence to see for themselves.
Avoid this shambles of a business at all costs!

Thank you for your review. We understand that you are extremely unhappy with what happened, however we must correct a number of statements in your review.
Your order was processed and dispatched by Travel FX on time. Unfortunately, Royal Mail subsequently experienced a significant delay in delivering your package. We appreciate that receiving travel money after returning from your trip made the currency of little use for its intended purpose, and we recognise that this caused considerable inconvenience and frustration.
Once currency has been purchased and dispatched, it cannot simply be returned for a full refund at the original exchange rate. Currency values fluctuate and the process that applies in these circumstances, including the applicable buyback rate, is clearly explained within the Terms and Conditions agreed to when an order is placed. This is not a financial penalty, nor are we attempting to "trick" customers or profit from a delivery problem.
We must also strongly reject the suggestion that Travel FX is a scam or is engaged in "daylight robbery". Your currency was purchased, dispatched and has now been delivered to you. We appreciate that it arrived considerably later than expected, but that does not make the transaction a scam.
You are of course entitled to raise the matter with your bank. However, as the currency is now in your possession, any chargeback assessment will need to take account of the fact that the goods purchased have been received. We will provide the bank with the relevant order, dispatch, delivery and correspondence records if requested.
We are sorry that Royal Mail's delay caused such significant disruption to your plans, but we believe it is important that the circumstances are represented accurately.

Avoid unless you want to go to the small claims court if your money goes missing
ordered travel currency (Order Ref: 187934017) which was sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery but got lost in transit. For weeks, Travel FX completely ignored my emails and their customer service phone lines were completely unresponsive. When I finally reached them, they falsely claimed that I was "not covered by the Consumer Rights Act" and tried to make me wait indefinitely for a Royal Mail investigation.Under Section 29 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the retailer is entirely responsible for the goods until they are physically delivered to you.I was forced to issue a formal Letter Before Action and file an official County Court claim (Claim No: 081JE280) through the government's Money Claim Online portal. Magically, within 48 hours of filing the court claim, Travel FX capitulated and issued a full refund of £414.04.I got my money back solely because I took legal action. If your money goes missing, do not let them push you around or tell you that you don't have rights—threaten court action immediately, as it is the only language they understand.

All currency dispatches are sent fully insured via Royal Mail Special Delivery. In the rare event that a package is delayed or suspected missing in transit, our terms of service require an official courier investigation to confirm non-delivery before a claim can be finalised and funds reissued.
Regarding your order:
Courier Investigation & Refund: A formal investigation with Royal Mail was initiated on 29th July. As soon as Royal Mail concluded their investigation and officially verified the loss on 24th August, we immediately issued a full refund of £414.04. The refund was processed directly under our standard insured delivery guarantee once non-delivery was proven, not as a result of external legal filings.
Consumer Rights Act Context: As previously communicated, the supply of physical currency is explicitly exempt from the standard goods provisions under Chapter 1, Section 3(3)(a) of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 ("It does not apply to a contract for a trader to supply coins or notes to a consumer for use as currency"). Dispatches are governed by our specific contract terms and Royal Mail's insured transit protocols.
We understand that transit delays and lost mail investigations can be frustrating, especially ahead of planned travel. However, we managed this claim through to completion on your behalf to ensure you were fully reimbursed.

I had a very disappointing experience…
I had a very disappointing experience with Travel FX. I intended to order Euros but somehow received Vietnamese instead. While the order confirmation did show Vietnamese , I am certain I selected Euros during the online ordering process and asked the company to investigate whether there may have been an issue with their website.
Their response was simply to state that their website was working correctly and that they could not explain how the wrong currency was ordered. No evidence of any investigation was provided, and there was no attempt to understand how a customer could accidentally order a currency that required scrolling through a long list of options.
The only solution offered was to sell the currency back to them, accept the financial loss from exchange rate differences, and purchase Euros separately. While I accept that mistakes can happen, I expected a much more customer-focused approach and a genuine effort to investigate the issue.
Poor customer service and a disappointing resolution. I would not use this company again.
