We stayed due to a concert booking in a family room, the room it self, smelt immediately of drugs when we entered, we had the ventilate the room, the corridors where full of rubbish in arrival which made it difficult for us to pull cases through, whilst in the room the fire alarm went off for around 45 minutes, we made our way downstairs to be told no it’s fine go back, the alarm still hadn’t stopped going off, the beds where clean -that we could see, the rest of the room wasn’t so good, there was hand marks all over the bathroom door and light switches, the carpets where dirty also, this was advertised as close to Wembley when actually it is over an hour walk from Wembley or difficult to get to in tube or a taxi between £10 and £100 depending on the time of the night! I have given 2 stars because the lady in reception was nice when we checked in.

We stayed at cardiff gate june 26th ,i booked 4 rooms for 2 nights and 2 rooms for 1 night, on the second night we returned to the hotel for our second night stay only to find the hotel had checked 2 of our rooms out, removing all of their belongins and leaving them in reception.
After over an hour of staff not nowing what to do. With 4 of party not having any where to stay we drove the 3 hours home, leaving the hotel at midnight.
I have been trying to get a satisfactory response from the customer service/complaints department, following their processes and have been told that they have investigated this situation without speaking to myself and have not come back to me with a satisfactory outcome.
Booked the wrong date by mistake
Booked the wrong date by mistake, I was out by a month. Noticed straight away on the email receipt, reported within 10 mins verbally. Told to contact customer services.
Picked the lowest rate. Travelodge simply don't care, won't change the date or refund. None existent customer service. £150 out of pocket for a hotel we won't even be traveling too. Avoid.
Never responded to customer services complaint / request over a month later #15071-2931901
Absolutely disgusted with this company. Would rather sleep in the car than use these for business or leisure.
Liverpool Central Exchange Street.
Liverpool Central Exchange Street.
Possibly the worst hotel I have ever visited in over fifty years. It was so bad I could not stay half an hour in the room. The hotel was damp, smelly and dark...oh so awful was the smell that I had to go and book another hotel.
There were drug addicts right next to the window outside and you could clearly hear them having a row (accept that is out of the control of the hotel0 and the hotel receptionist was certainly not welcoming.
I wouldn't advise anyone in their sane mind to book a room in this very badly run and stinking hotel.
Advertised as 3-Star, but basic service falls far short—poor value for £300+ stay
We stayed at the Travelodge Portsmouth City Centre during a hot British summer. On a positive note, the room itself was clean, comfortable, and blissfully cool—making for a good night’s sleep.
We paid over £300 for a 2-night stay at a hotel that advertises itself as a 3-star property. However, standard 3-star services are clearly missing.
Arriving in the city before the 3:00 PM check-in, we were told there is zero baggage storage available. Our choices were either to haul our luggage around the city all afternoon or pay an extra £20 fee for early check-in. At this price point, pushing guests into extra fees just to put down a bag is terrible customer service.
Disappointing Breakfast (£10.99 pp) -
We went down for breakfast at 9:00 AM (service runs until 10:00 AM) to find most buffet trays completely empty—no hash browns, no bagels, 3 sausages and no dairy-free alternative for the eggs. When raised, staff hid behind the menu's fine print stating items are "subject to availability."
While occasional sell-outs happen, charging full price for less than half a menu an hour before service finishes is completely unfair.
I'm the room, the shower trap was congested and drained very slowly, which, paired with a shower curtain that didn't reach the tray, resulted in a flooded bathroom floor every single time it was used. For a relatively new hotel, these maintenance flaws are concerning.
While the room itself was comfortable, calling this a 3-star experience is a stretch when you factor in the flooded bathroom, half-empty breakfast, and lack of luggage storage. At £300+, it simply isn't good value for money.
Phenomenally unhelpful customer service
I logged into my account at www (dot) travelodge (dot) co (dot) uk and it offered me a 10% discount code - TRAVELODGE10
This was good because the price had already gone up £10 between the time I looked in the morning, confirmed with my partner, and went back to book same day in the afternoon.
Unfortunately, the code was rejected. So I took screenshots of the first screen showing the code and the screen showing the rejection message, and email both to customer (dot) service (at) travelodge (dot) co (dot) uk
Having waited a day and not received a reply - I mean, it’s not like hotel bookings are time critical or anything - I phoned Travelodge 0800 408 0797. A pre recorded announcement told me to contact customer services through a form on the travelodge (dot) co (dot) uk website and wait for them to reply. In other words you can’t talk with them on the phone.
I held over ten minutes for reservations only to be told repeatedly by Noa, who informed me he’d worked at travelodge for quite some time, that the travelodge website does not offer discount codes, so he couldn’t apply one for me.
He said, politely but again repeatedly, that if I wanted to pursue the matter, all I could do was wait for customer services to reply, which could take three to five working days.
He couldn’t put me through to anyone more senior and if I wanted to complain, guess what, I had to contact customer service!
To say I feel cold to travelodge is an understatement. Truly best avoided in my opinion.
Lets be honest
Lets be honest, Travelodge are not the most beautiful places, nor are they particulary clean, and their staff definitely not the most courteous you will find when requiring a place to stay. This day and age when most if not all services and goods are very expensive, Travelodge are asking that any paying customer also pays an additional fee of £25 for their Dog when staying in a room, so having two Dogs myself they were asking that I pay them £350 extra for a proposed stay, needless to say we did not stay! They did not ask what Dogs they are, their size, or if they were service Dogs for example, which tells you immediately they are not interested in anything other than making a huge amount of money.
Dogs are not likely to trash a room or damage it in a way close to what people would, do they ask for the same amount extra for someone taking children into a room?
The solution for me was simple, check a well known short stay lettings website, it was there I found a small house complete with garden and garage parking, whilst simultaneously saving over £200 on the Travelodge price.
Do better Travelodge, your fees are utterly ridiculous, stop making excuses of allergies and Dogs damaging property, or instead do the obvious and visibly check a room upon someone leaving. We know that you will have an excuse not to do this however, such as not enough staff, so never again will we look at a stay with you.
Whetstone travel lodge
I am writing this review following a deeply frustrating and stressful stay at Travelodge Whetstone.
We had two consecutive bookings covering the nights of the 30th to the 2nd. Upon checking in on the 30th, I explicitly informed reception staff that we had two separate reservations and asked whether we would need to switch rooms. The staff member confirmed that we could stay in the same room for the entire duration of our visit.
Despite that clear assurance, I later received a call from the hotel manager, Lidya, demanding that I immediately return to the hotel to clear out our belongings. When I explained that reception had told us no room move was needed and that I was currently in another part of London and unable to return at short notice, there was zero flexibility or understanding. Instead of taking ownership of the internal miscommunication, Lidya was aggressive, confrontational, and dismissive.
When I escalated the matter formally to Travelodge Customer Services, it was simply redirected back to Lidya. Rather than addressing the misleading information provided by her team or apologizing for the disruption, she focused on questioning why different room types were booked in the first place. The issue arose entirely because of conflicting information given by hotel staff, yet no responsibility was ever taken.
As a full-time carer for my husband, who lives with severe dementia, my day-to-day life is already demanding. This unnecessary ordeal caused immense stress, inconvenience, and upset during a time when basic hospitality and empathy should have been extended.
Verbal hostility and dismissive treatment from hotel management are completely unacceptable. I am still awaiting a formal investigation, a sincere apology, and proper compensation for the distress caused. I strongly advise potential guests to look elsewhere until management training and customer service standards at this location are seriously addressed.
Do not stay here - unacceptable standards
Chessington - Tolworth Travelodge avoid! We booked one night and the room we were allocated smelt strongly of paint fumes as it had recently been painted. Why use rooms for paying guests when clearly they are unsuitable? No option to move room, no one on reception and customer service has been non-existent. After many emails to and from a partial refund has been made but now they are refusing to answer emails. No option but to sue Travelodge in the Small Claims Court. This company will go bust if they don’t listen to their customers and start putting them first.
Newquay Travelodge.
We usually stay at Premier Inn, but on this occasion, at short notice there was, er, no room at the Inn, so Travelodge was the obvious alternative.
A little cheaper, although we did rather see why:
No bath, only a shower.
Sound proofing clearly less impressive than Premier Inn - every slammed door, footsteps in corridors and whatever occupants were up to in their rooms clearly audible all through the night.
Breakfast generally of noticeably lower quality and nowhere near as efficiently replenished as Premier Inn.
However, the real irritation was something else. Our iPhone recharging cable had stopped working so we went to reception and, so we thought, borrowed one, which we returned when we checked out.
It turned out we had been billed for it (we didn’t notice until later on); The receptionist hadn’t said so and the different receptionist just took it back without comment.
There is nothing inherently wrong with Travelodge, but Premier Inn is much better (and, no, I have no connection with Premier Inn).
The price difference isn’t all that much (Travelodge seems expensive in view of all this, and Premier Inn doesn’t).
Pay the difference, is my advice.
Shocking company
Shocking company, terrible customer service, 0 stars if i could.
Long story short, Stayed at Camberley Central during the heatwave. 2 adults, 1 child and 2 puppies (frenchies)
No parking for 2 disabled people
Shower didn't work
No aircon, a small desktop fan that pushed hot air around.
1 of our puppies seemed to have a fit during the night due to the heat in the room and died a few hours later.
Customer services were useless and offered an apology.
No refund, no offer with help towards her cremation, not even a phone call from the manager or area manager to offer condolences.
I swear i will NEVER use them again, i'd rather sleep in a layby. No words can describe how annoyed and upset we all are about this situation.
Two nights loss of sleep and money! Travelodge
I often stay at Travelodge, Sandbrook Park Rochdale. On 7 and 8 July nights I had two sleepless nights. I travel from far to visit family and friends. I often get disturbed during the night but it gets sorted and never put on Trust Pilot. The staff are very helpful. But the Manager needs to check and sort out many things. The very loud bathroom fan kept me awake all night and bathroom door latch was faulty so could not close it. Following day I requested another room but there were problems in there too So loss of two nights sleep. And wasted money. Main problem is, Travelodge never reply, they just send automated reply, that they will get in touch but never do. Travelodge still has not replied to my complaint email I sent over two weeks ago. I do not feel like staying at Travelodge anymore
I appreciate that this is a budget…
I appreciate that this is a budget hotel and the basics are there I.e a tv, kettle, 2 teabags etc, but if it says bedside lights, handwash etc I expect them to be there. Last 3 visits to different hotels these things have been missing. No change even when brought to attention
Arrived at hotel to be told there was…
Arrived at hotel to be told there was no running water and the key cards did not work. I had to quickly find another hotel which cost me an extra £200. While travelodge refunded my booking fee with them, they are not interested in the extra cost and stress it caused me. As far as they are concerned, having no running water is not a problem.
Extortionate call charges
Just tried to ring the hotel I have booked to ask about parking and got a message to say the call would be charge at 13p per minute! Utter extortion
Great service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What you would expect from a travelodge but exceptional service from Abbie on the front desk, greeted me with a smile on her face and explained everything perfectly. She made the whole experience feel special. Keep it up. Travelodge Redhill👊🏽.
Whatever!
I always return for more because I'm a masochist! 92 pounds fifty per night for a very small twin room over eight nights. Towels are changed daily and the tea bags replaced. Cleaning the room and a bed change is once per week unless you plead with them to intervene at 'half time' (that is a rubbish policy they've had for a few years now). I think Travelodge has really lost the plot (or brexit means they have to pay 'huge' wages to UK staff and the Poles have gone home). IT IS A Motel for goodness sake with no A/C and smelly carpets in many of their establishments, so why are they charging almost real hotel prices with nothing included. If they base their strategy on the U.S. model, then they've got it wrong. If you want anything a bit cheaper, then they offer you a bit lower in price on the main M4 motorway at Lea Delamare outside Chippenham, but still they are understaffed and full of Road Works gangs on contracts and en-route stopover families. As well as this, those two hotels (East and Westbound) are in a truck stop with all the noise fumes and movement (plus the all pervading stink of burnt U.S. style fast food outlets in the service area). With Travelodge, it's the luck of the draw. I pity the staff, who do their best to keep all the plates spinning. It's really awful when you look at it.
I stayed at the Widnes Travelodge last…
I stayed at the Widnes Travelodge last week while visiting my family, and I had an amazing experience from start to finish. I was made to feel welcome from day one, and the level of customer service was outstanding.
A special thank you to Jan, Jane and Shakia, who all went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. Every member of staff was friendly, approachable and always happy to help, all with a smile.
What impressed me most was how much pride everyone clearly takes in their work. It’s rare to see such an enthusiastic and dedicated team, and it really made my stay memorable.
Well done to Jan and the whole team – you should all be very proud of yourselves! 👏 I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
