Found this company following an advertisement on Facebook, Paul Corderoy was extremely helpful and put together an absolutely superb package for Route 66 at an unbelievable price, furthermore, he tailored the itinerary to exactly match my requirements including stop overs and hotels. Lucky for us, he also managed to secure us some additional upgrades which other companies could not even come close to competing with

Sold a holiday they couldn’t deliver as presented – full refund only agreed after ABTA complaint

Our experience with US Airtours / TravelPlanners started out great. A sales agent who’d just done our itinerary, made fab recommendations, and planned an itinerary with near perfect flights and hotels and a decent price, ABTA and ATOL bonded so decided to go ahead. However serious concerns were raised about the accuracy and consistency of the information provided after booking.

We booked a cruise holiday costing approximately £12,000 for two people, based on the itinerary, flights and arrangements presented to us. We were told that TravelPlanners secured flight seats three years in advance and that final flight details would be available one year before departure. This timescale repeatedly changed—to one year before our return, then 11 months, 320 days and finally “six months at the latest”, the flights didn’t arrive 6 months before.

After approximately ten months since the booking and chasing for flight information since the 1 year before mark, we were told our booking was subject to an “Advance Registration” process, which had not been explained when we booked.

We were also explicitly told that all our flights were “booked and secured”. TravelPlanners later admitted that one had not been booked and requested an additional payment to secure it.

We were promised Singapore Airlines for all flights except one internal sector. However, the itinerary provided included three Lufthansa flights, one Korean airline and only one Singapore Airlines flight. This was particularly concerning because we had been told that the original Etihad flights, supposedly secured three years in advance, were unavailable. Despite sending the compliance officer emails from the sales team confirming the promised flights and airlines, our concerns were attributed to confusion on our part rather than properly addressed.

We were assured that we could select seats once the flights appeared in TravelPlanners’ system, but were later told this would not be possible until ticketing, approximately six weeks before departure. We were also told that airline booking references and access to the reservations could not be provided until the holiday had been paid for in full.

We genuinely wanted to take the holiday and made considerable efforts to preserve the booking. We accepted alternative flights, offered to extend the holiday at our own expense and were willing to incur additional costs so we could still be away for my husband’s 40th birthday. Despite this flexibility, TravelPlanners could not provide arrangements that restored our confidence.

We complained for almost three months. TravelPlanners maintained that they had acted appropriately and attributed the issues to confusion about Advance Registration. However, our complaint concerned specific assurances that proved inaccurate, including flights being described as booked and secured and the promised airline arrangements.

Only after we escalated the matter to ABTA did TravelPlanners agree to cancel the booking and refund all money paid in full, without deductions. Their Operations and Compliance Manager described this as a gesture of goodwill and denied that the holiday had been sold on a false basis or that TravelPlanners had acted incorrectly.

We later booked an alternative holiday with another company. Within approximately 30 seconds of paying the deposit, we received airline booking references and login details for our reservations—information TravelPlanners had said could not be provided until full payment, six weeks before departure.

The refund has resolved the financial dispute, but not the loss of confidence caused by the changing information and contradictory assurances.

My advice is to confirm exactly what has been reserved, secured and ticketed before committing financially. Check the airlines, itinerary, seat availability, booking-reference timescales, any possible additional payments and what “Advance Registration” actually means.

Above all, get absolutely everything in writing.

Our money has been returned, but our confidence in TravelPlanners has not.

Paul got in touch straight away, and when I say he was so patient with me, that is an understatement. Nothing was too much trouble after numerous tweeks and requests to the quote, which we decided to go with. Christine has been excellent in supporting us book a 2x family split Disney/Universal holiday. We gave 2 ideas to start with, tweaked a little bit and she gave us competitive quotes factoring in all the elements we wanted. Process has been easy, and I found the level of contact excellent.

I have booked quite a few holidays now with Paul, he is a really helpful knowledgable and a professional holiday planner, he will always try to find the best hotel and price for your budget, he discusses everything clearly so there are no hidden surprises.
What I like about Travelplanners is they design your holiday itinerary to fit around what you want and you can’t book these holidays easily yourself as it’s complicated so you need an expert such as Paul.
I can’t recommend him enough, and will be looking forward to my next trip!

This is the 2nd time we’ve booked with travel planners.
This time it was Paula who arranged everything for us. Having lived there herself for many years, there isn’t much she doesn’t know, so she was very helpful.
We’ve moving around quite a bit whilst we’re there, and Paula made a few suggestions to make it easier to save us wasting any of our days. I just felt more confident in our choices due to her advice. We cannot wait, it’s going to be an amazing trip.

Paul and his team always go the extra mile when it comes to finding the perfect holiday. I found booking a recent trip to Australia particularly challenging, but Paul was able to find the ideal itinerary within our budget while meeting all of our expectations with ease. The team was extremely helpful throughout the entire process, and I cannot commend them highly enough. Highly recommended!

I have booked several Celebrity cruises with USAirtours / Travelplanners for my family of 5 and have also introduced 6 other families to them who also booked with them.

This year I had a down turn in business and was forced to move the cruise. The sales person was then less than helpful and suddenly didn't have the same customer service skills as he did when he was selling me the various cruises and I was pushed through to aftersales.

When I came to rebook they tried to charge me over 15% more than the Celebrity online rate and also charged me more than the required £150 per person when I initially booked. When I challenged the inflated rate they said that this was the rebooking rate and even when they then applied discount to the rate it was still more than £1000 more than the Celebrity rate.

I was obviously not going to give anymore business to a company that treats its customers like that and asked for a refund or even partial refund of my deposit; they refused; stating their terms and conditions. If this is how they treat customer who have spent 1000s and 1000s of pounds with them, God knows how they would treat someone who only books a cheaper holiday with them.

I strongly urge anyone thinking about using them to read the other reviews and use a different tour operator.
