Unauthorised £79 Charge – Misleading “Subscription” Scam Tactics

I attempted to buy a simple £9 Speedy Security pass at Glasgow Airport, and the transaction failed. I received no confirmation, no service, and no booking. They refunded the £9, which proves the purchase didn’t go through — yet they still took £79 from my bank account without my consent.
When I questioned it, they claimed I had somehow “subscribed” to a FastTrack membership I never signed up for, never agreed to, and never even saw. Their response was a scripted excuse about a “72‑hour trial period” — completely irrelevant, because I never knowingly entered into any subscription in the first place.
This feels deliberately misleading. Charging £79 for a failed £9 purchase is outrageous, and hiding behind a fake “membership” is even worse. No transparency, no proper authorisation, and no willingness to refund an unauthorised charge.
I strongly advise others to avoid this company. Their practices are confusing at best and predatory at worst.

UPDATE
After multiple emails with their support team and providing every detail they requested, Trip Sorted has now confirmed in writing that they refuse to refund an unauthorised £79 charge, even though:
• My original £9 purchase failed
• They refunded the £9, proving no service was provided
• I never knowingly entered into any subscription or trial
• I never authorised a £79 payment
• I never received any membership benefits
Despite all of this, their “Compliance Officer” continues to repeat the same scripted explanation about a “trial” I never agreed to, and the company’s final position is that they will only refund 50% of an unauthorised charge.
To be clear:
A company refusing to refund an unauthorised payment is not a “policy” issue — it’s a consumer‑rights issue.
I have now initiated a chargeback with my bank and am filing reports with Trading Standards and relevant consumer‑protection bodies regarding misleading subscription practices.
I’m updating this review so others can see the full picture:
Trip Sorted has been given every opportunity to resolve this properly, and they have chosen not to. Their public replies on Trustpilot do not reflect the reality of their private responses.
If they issue a full refund, I will update this review accordingly. Until then, I strongly advise others to be extremely cautious.
