Two wheels on my suitcase would not work

Two wheels on my suitcase would not work, after several mails and video, they would not do anything, they suggested I lubricant wheels which I had done and had told them in mails. Have only used suitcase approximately 4 times. I don’t think they should advertise 5 year warranty as this is false representation

Excellent customer service

I purchased 2 suitcases and a cabin bag last Friday which arrived last Saturday . One case unfortunately had a fault on one side in the fabric with a small split . It was luck that I spotted it as to be fair it was not obvious . . On Monday morning I contacted customer services who from the off wanted to sort this out . I dealt with Melissa who asked for pictures . On receipt emailing me for a code in the case with instructions where to find it . In the meantime a replacement had been despatched as I had been informed by DPD of its forthcoming delivery . It arrived today Wednesday and is fine . Inevitably sometimes things can go wrong but I have to say that Melissa and Tripp have given excellent customer service and I have no hesitation in recommending them . I would add that I have had a Tripp cabin case for about 15 years used about 30 times per year hence needing larger luggage I chose Tripp . Many thanks Melissa for excellent customer service .

Bought a Tripp large duffel wheel bag and after one journey there was a tear by the handle. Contacted Tripp and within a day there was a response from Kaye in Customer Service and the issue was resolved very quickly with a replacement. Can’t fault the excellent customer service.

Large Tripp Retro Suitcases

I ordered two large retro suitcases from Tripp. The quality is shocking. I know that cases can be mishandled in airports but these cases had marked before checking them in, from serious dents, deep scratches to missing wheels. They are an embarrassment when checking in to accommodation. I have contacted Tripp after sales and have been advised that I should have purchased protective covers or had them shrink wrapped at the airport to prevent such damage. Nowhere in the spec was this mentioned and I certainly would not have purchased them if I thought they were really only fit for ornamental purpose. As for the five year guarantee, it doesn’t cover any of the damage. Do not invest!

Good afternoon,
Thank you for your review.

We are sorry to hear you’re unhappy with our guarantee and our items.

Suitcases will be subject to scuffs whilst the case is in transit, especially with baggage handlers. Sadly this would be for any case purchased within any store.

With our cases they are tested to make sure that they can withstand a lot of force and pressure, as we appreciate that baggage handlers are not always careful with your luggage.

Cosmetic damage is not something covered under the manufactures warranty.

I apologise for any further inconvenience caused by this,
Tripp.

I have had Tripp suitcases for years

I have had Tripp suitcases for years. There’s nothing wrong with my most recent one because I’ve not received it!!! It’s been with DPD for 13 days. I ordered a new suitcase after my last one was damaged and I’m flying to Australia tomorrow so the suitcase I’ve ordered will not arrive in time. I contacted Tripp to ask them why it’s taking so long to arrive. They need to escalate it with DPD because it’s clearly lost. My parcel has been in the sortation facility in Birmingham for 13 days and the message says it will resolve in 24 hours but this has not happened. Tripp need to send me a new suitcase because DPD have clearly lost it. But they aren’t doing anything to help other than sharing the tracking details and saying to expect it to arrive today (it’s said that everyday for 13 days). Tripp need to either send me a new suitcase or give me a refund as it’s not good enough.

First order got declined by DPD and the replacement order was incorrect

I ordered with plenty of time before my holiday - to collect at a DPD location, as it was advertised as a free service. The company did not charge me for this, and as a result, the parcel was refused by the collection point and returned back to the company.

This took a good 4/5 days. Worried that I might not now get my suitcase before my holiday, I contacted the customer service, who did reply fairly quickly on a weekend to be fair to them, who organised a replacement order.

Now, today, the day before my holiday I have just received my "replacement order", which is completely different to the one which I ordered.

Shocking service, not sure how thats even possible to mess up an order twice in a row

Good Afternoon,
Thank you for your review.

We are really sorry to hear that your original order was refused by the store.

This isn’t to do with the free delivery however although this is rare, sometimes shops refuse to accept parcels if there is a lack of holding space at the time.

If you’d like to contact the assisting advisor who replaced the original order and let them know about the mis pick of the replacement they will continue to assist you.

I have had Tripp suitcases in the past…

I have had Tripp suitcases in the past and have not had any issues. My most recent purchase came and unfortunately had an issue with the built in lock. I contacted Tripp regarding the issue and they advised that they would send me a replacement lock.
This lock is built into the case so unsure how I was to replace this. When I asked, their response was to watch a YouTube video.
I have not asked for the replacement lock to be sent as I fear I may damage the case when I try to remove the lock. I will just have to buy a standard lock to lock the zips together.

Broken wheels can only be replaced under guarantee

We’ve used trip suitcases for several years and have been very satisfied. However on our 2 large suitcases the wheels have broken. On their website they advertise spare parts but when I tried to buy new wheels they said they are only covered under the 5 year guarantee. We’re now left with 2perfect suitcases no longer usable. This is ridiculous. You would think if they stock spares, you would be able to buy the parts.

Allowing for reasonable wear and tear, should any manufacturing fault become apparent during the guarantee period, in most instances we will try to provide new parts.

…Cabin Bag

I purchased a cabin size hard shell suitcase in October 2025. The first time I used it was only on a car journey for 2.5 hours on a motorway. I placed the bag in the booth of a new car with nothing placed on top of it. When I reached my destination it was scuffed. I contacted Tripp and they just replied that the bags are tested to withstand hardship but are made to protect what is inside therfore my complaint was not considered as a problem. They just suggested that I should buy a suitcase cover. It never suggested or recommended that on the description on the website before i purchased the luggage. I replied that this case had not even been put through the hardships of Airport baggage carriers Airplane holds and baggage carousel. I feel there would be no colour left on my suitcase if I was to fly. I got no satisfaction from customer support and just told my issue was not covered by any guarantee even though my bag wasn't even a month old! I have bought several Tripp suitcases over the years with no issues but after this experience and the comments from Tripp it will be my last. I would love to see the so called tests that the luggage is supposed to go through.
I do not have my order number but I have the number on the reply from customer support
ENQ448010
I had deleted my emails after my case had arrived as I unfortunately didn't expect any problems

Disappointing response!

Purchased several cases from this company and notice that the handle had cracked on a large suitcase. Contacted Customer Support about the 5 year guarantee and was told very quickly that it was obviously an airline fault and could not be covered by the 5 year warranty. Will not be buying anything else from this company.

Faulty wheels - Replacement not arrived

I received a present of a Tripp cabin bag purchased online through Tripp which is perfect for my needs size wise but one of the 4 wheels was faulty. After using it a couple of times the case became usable so I contacted Tripp Customer Service explaining the issue including photos & receipt showing I was within guarantee period. Customer services replied very promptly and offered to send me replacement wheels with instructions on how to replace. I was very pleased with this solution so gave my postal address and waited for new wheels to arrive. That was a month ago and I am still waiting on the replacement wheels. I have emailed multiple times and gotten assurances a couple of weeks ago that they were in the post for a second time but still no sign of them. My reference number is ENQ440319 and would appreciate if this request could be escalated please as I have a trip planned soon and no usable case to bring with me. Thanks
Update: I have double checked and ENQ440319 is the reference number on all my many emails with tripp customer rep - Girish. I received an update from Girish yesterday that a new replacement case will now be sent - If & When I receive this I will update this review. Final Update: New case just arrived so have updated my review score. No idea what happened to the two sets of missing replacement wheels but v happy with final solution. Thanks

Tripp Suitcase - very poor quality

Extremely dissatisfied with the quality of my suitcase which was only purchased in May and used once before both zip pulls broke and detached from the suitcase lock. The Company refused to replace the damaged suitcase or repair the zip pulls and did not honour the 5 year guarantee stating the zip pulls not covered under warranty. Although
the customer service rep was as helpful as she could be within the confines of Company policy, I was only offered replacement zips which are useless as the lock is damaged

Wheels didn't last 4 holidays

Over a year ago I bought a tripp suitcase. The wheels broke and the customer representative wasted my time saying that she sent out wheels to me when she didnt. Do not buy from this company as you are not valued as a customer. I believe the product is poor. You are better off buying from a cheaper competitor as you are paying premium prices just for the brand name. Tripp has a problem with it's design. The wheels are not fit for function.

A refreshing experience

Had an issue with a detached lining in a case that was 2/3 years old. It took a couple of photos and mail exchanges with customer services (Kaye) and in less than a week we received a new replacement case. First class service and customer support. What a refreshing experience ! Thank you Kaye & Tripp. Highly recommended.

Very poor quality

First time I have used a new Tripp suitcase, and upon collection at the luggage belt, the zip was completely open. Locks still in place. Luckily held together by the luggage belt. I travel frequently, long and short haul.
In all my years travelling, ( also worked for an airline) I've never, ever had this issue. Quality is terrible.
I've complained to Tripp, their response, is disgusting, and the zips can come apart and it's normal in transit! What suitcase is designed with this flaw and Tripp think this is acceptable.
We purchased 4 suitcases from them, plus luggage tags and suitcase straps, which are pointless as they are elastic, no matter how much you tighten them, the stretch is ridiculous.
Waste of money, will never use again as can't be trusted. Also, due to the quality of the finish, the case will look extremely scuffed.
Read their 5 year guarantee, it covers for nothing.
I'm now going to proceed through my credit card company and make a claim with them to get my money back under section 75 for poor quality goods.

Response from Tripp customer service says it all:

All our products have self-correcting zips. The teeth might have been separated due to some impact or sharp object during transit causing it to part. This can sometimes happen in transit. To correct the zip open both zips back to the very start of the zips. You then zip the cases closed again and you should see the teeth will realign.

Regarding the scuff marks. These are to be expected. The Horizon range has a glossy finish and may colour in areas where there are deeper scuff marks due to the nature of the materia

Not lasted the Tripp very well

Bought 4 medium Tripp World hard bodied suitcases around March/April of this year in preparation for a long-haul holiday, from which we’ve just returned. This was the first journey for these cases. I bought them as we wanted suitcases which would be easily manoeuvrable through the airport until check-in and once picked up at the other end.

In the interests of fairness, I’ll describe how we used the cases. Our suitcases were all under 20kg each when packed, and we did not need to unzip the expandable middle of the cases to allow more space. The journey was UK to Middle East where we transferred to the flight for the holiday destination, and back again, same pattern in reverse. We did not have to reclaim / recheck-in the cases during the Middle East transfer.

Here’s what happened.

On the outward journey by the time we had reached our destination:
* my case had lost one of the plastic inner wheel covers described as a “hub cap” on Tripp’s website. It still seemed to roll fine around our hotel room.
* my daughter (who had decided to set a combination and use the in-built TSA lock) found that the square looped ends on the zip pulls were bent when she unlocked her case - meaning that the in-built TSA combination lock couldn’t be used again. Luckily we had a spare padlock and were able to still padlock the bent looped ends of the zips for the return journey.
* my son’s case had a large dent in it, where something had been dropped on it in baggage handling, deforming the shell of the case.
* my partner’s case was unscathed.

On the return journey:
* my case when reclaimed in the UK had developed a less gliding motion and now had more of a slightly “wayward-wheeled shopping trolley” action in how it moved when packed. When empty, upright, closed and with wheels on the floor, the case can be rocked. I am guessing one of the wheels at a corner has been pushed up, out of alignment, in baggage handling on the return.
* my daughter’s case - no further damage.
* my son’s case had acquired another dent deforming the shell of the case, in a different place to the first dent. At check-in on the return journey the airline had already noted the suitcase was damaged and made him sign a waiver.
* my partner’s case - no damage beyond some cosmetic scratching to the outside of the suitcase

That’s one case which has completed the journey without drama and just some scratches. Which is really disappointing.

Have not bothered to contact Tripp as the guarantee is in relation to manufacturing defects and not baggage handling. I can’t find the order number / email, either. But if 3 out of 4 cases get damaged in baggage handling on their first journey, it seems likely there’s a design problem (or several) with the suitcase itself.

The dents in my son’s case did push out leaving only a ripple where each dent was. Not sure if that will have affected the structural strength of the plastic suitcase body in those areas. But the wheel on mine and the now unusable combination lock on my daughter’s, is definitely not what you want from a suitcase.

In short, these suitcases might be fine for short-haul, or destinations where the baggage handlers use kid gloves and velvet cushions to move the baggage, but my experience with them leaves a lot to be desired.

Orders cases 2 weeks ago

Orders cases 2 weeks ago. I live in Ireland. Cases never left the UK and are now on their way back to Tripp.

Sent an email to their ‘customer service ’ team and was told they don’t know why they are being sent back. I requested a refund and was advised I’ll have to wait for the cases to go back into their warehouse.

I’ve a holiday next week and no cases and no refund.

How can they take your money and not know why the cases never shipped and then refuse to give you a refund until they locate the cases!! Surely this is illegal?
