No integrity - awful experience
We had booked Tropic Bar, Bicester for a private 50th birthday party. On the day of the event, we were suddenly told that there was a gas leak and that the venue could no longer operate. As a result, we were forced at extremely short notice to find an alternative venue, causing enormous stress to the organiser, guests, and most importantly the birthday person.
Later that same day, we became aware that another private party (a 30th birthday) was taking place at the venue.
At best, this reflects shockingly poor communication and a complete lack of duty of care to a pre-booked private event. At worst, it raises very serious questions about honesty and professionalism. Either the venue was genuinely unsafe to operate — in which case no event should have been taking place — or we were misled.
This situation caused real emotional distress and significant disruption. There was no meaningful attempt to support us, relocate us, or take responsibility.
If you are considering booking this venue for a private function: do not. Our experience demonstrates that your event can be cancelled without warning and without transparency.
This review is an accurate account of our experience. I would say to avoid at all costs. The Manager is highly unprofessional and not to be trusted.
