They took our TV for 4-5 days, returned it and then new problems showed up after their "repair"
Our experience with this company was so awful that we ended up cancelling our insurance cover with Domestic & General because they did not provide an alternative repair service.
Here is what happened. Our Samsung TV had a black arch on the left side of the screen. We called Domestic & General, and they informed TVRS. We got a message about an engineer coming over. They did not specify what would happen. The engineers were nice, and they told us they would return it in 4-5 days. That was on a Monday.
A couple of days later, I emailed them for an update, and they did not reply. Later, we got a text message that they had to order a part. The second week, there was no communication at all. My wife called them, and the person on the phone refused to give their name. They said, "Why do you need my name?"
Every time we needed an update, we had to call them. They never provided any outlook apart from the initial 4-5 days.
We were now three weeks in. They finally said it was ready when I called. The people who delivered them were polite, and they sympathised with what we had gone through. They also said that Scot, who picked it up, should not have said it would be ready in 4-5 days.
Anyway, they connected the TV; it seemed OK, and I thought that was it.
After a couple of days, we started noticing some small discolourations on the bottom of the TV. I reset the TV, but the white discolouration was there. A few days later, we realised that these white patches were all over the perimeter of the screen.
At the beginning, they were more prominent when the background was black. However, they kept getting bigger and brighter and could not be ignored. They are now severely distracting.
We had already complained about the service to Domestic & General. They came back with something like £16 compensation. We told them that was a joke, if not insulting and did not accept it.
We called them again to report the fault and ask them to provide us with the details of another TV service in the area. They said that they did not have anybody else at the moment, so we cancelled our TV cover with them. I told them I would prefer to buy a new TV out of my own pocket than to ever have to deal with TVRS.
The TVRS guy gave me a card with the job number (full disclosure for this case) and, on the card, asked me to leave a review. So here I am, leaving the review they asked for and deserved.
The card says they guarantee all chargeable repairs (not sure what "chargeable" means: if I paid them directly or if it counts as being paid by our insurance). But letting them take our TV again and chasing them for another 3 weeks isn't worth whatever guarantee they offer.
I would not recommend them, and I would not ever trust them with anything. Not only was their craftsmanship questionable (if not dodgy), but worst of all was their lack of communication and ignoring us.
There may be an excuse for an electronic component failing; I can understand that. But there is no excuse for having such bad service and for treating their customers like this.
NOTE: Their card with ref number is provided as proof of their engagement. TVRS Job Ref No 3284625 (or 3284628) (handwritten ref number)
